Chapter 31
Anastasia felt a level of embarrassment sheâd never experienced before.
She noticed Hermanâs gaze falling on her black lace panties and quickly picked them up and hid them behind her back.
She looked down, her face as red as a ripe apple.
Herman was amused by Anastasiaâs reaction. Just as he was about to say something, he unexpectedly looked at Anastasiaâs chest. Only then did he realize that she was not wearing a bra.
Herman also felt incredibly awkward. He turned to the side and said, âI was about to whip up something to eat.â
âUm, Iâll go clean up a bit. Iâm a bit messy.â
With her head down and her panties hidden behind her back, Anastasia quickly retreated to her bedroom.
The smile on Hermanâs face deepened. This girl was always so shy.
Back in her room, Anastasia washed her panties again. This time, she didnât dare hang them out on the balcony, so she hung them by the window using a hanger.
After taking care of this, she suddenly remembered that she hadnât put on her panties yet. Thinking back on Hermanâs actions, she suddenly understood and felt extremely embarrassed.
Did he think that she was trying to seduce him? Anastasia felt like she wanted the ground to swallow her up.
She had accidentally pulled him down with her when she fell last night, and they both ended up on the couch. And now he saw her drying pantiesâ¦
Anastasia slapped her hot face. Suddenly, Herman knocked on the door from outside.
âAnastasia, I made spaghetti Wanna join me?â
She had only had a drink that night and was actually a little hungry now.
âComing!â Anastasia answered loudly. She quickly changed into a conservative set of pajamas before heading out.
Herman had cooked two servings of basil pesto spaghetti. It smelled delicious and was sprinkled with cheese on top. It looked extremely appetizing.
âIt smells amazing.â Anastasia sat down and couldnât help but pick up her fork. âYouâre really good at cooking.â
This was the first time he showed off his cooking skills since they had started living together.
âI can do a few simple dishes.â
As soon as Herman finished speaking, the house suddenly went dark.
Anastasia was already nearsighted. Now, without electricity, her vision was as bad as a blind personâs.
âWhatâs going on?â Anastasia asked.
Herman turned on the flashlight on his phone and said seriously. âIâll go check it out. You stay put.â
Herman went to check the corridor and saw that there was light there, so it wasnât a power outage. He came back in and said, âWe might be overdue on our electricity bill.â
When Flynn bought the house for him, they were in a rush and didnât have time to check the balance for utilities. He didnât even know how to pay for them. Anastasia had experience with overdue bills. She asked, âWhereâs the electricity card?â
Herman didnât know where the electricity card was. As the CEO of Elysian Technologies, he never needed to worry about these things.
Herman responded quickly, âI canât find it.â
âWe could ask the landlord to pay for it. You can pay for it on your phone,â Anastasia suggested. âThatâs what I used to do. You could give the landlord a call.â
If Herman called the landlord, heâd give himself away. He was the landlord.
Herman said seriously, âItâs late now. I donât want to bother anyone. We have candles. We can use those.â
Anastasia thought Herman was just being shy about calling the landlord, so she didnât think much of it.
Herman found some candles in a drawer, lit them, and placed them in the middle of the dining table. The orange glow lit up the whole room, and they sat across from each other.
With the candlelight, Anastasia laughed and said, âIt feels like weâre celebrating a birthday. Having a candlelit dinner.â
âAnastasia Herman suddenly called her name.
âHmm?â Anastasia responded.
âI have a gift for youâ Herman took a jewelry box out of the drawer and handed it to her.
Anastasia asked curiously, âWhatâs this? Is there a special occasion today? Why are you suddenly giving me a gift?â
