Chapter 193
Driving up the hill, Anastasia was basically just stepping on the gas, hardly ever needing to brake. There werenât many cars on the mountain road, so she pretty much hit the gas and zoomed up the hill.
Anastasia racked her brain but couldnât think of anything fishy. She had parked her car in the parking lot on top of the hill. After chatting with Christine, she started her car and drove down the hill.
âEverything was normal,â Anastasia said. âI didnât notice any problems while driving up.â
The cops looked at Anastasia. âThis case is a bit odd, we need to investigate it again. Have you pissed anyone off lately?â
Anastasia shook her head. âApart from arguing with Selena, I canât think of anyone else.â
After brainstorming, Anastasia indeed couldnât remember any enemies.
After the police left, Herman saw them out, reminding them, âYou can check the surveillance in the parking lot of the villa on top of the hill. If the car wasnât tampered with at the companyâs parking lot, it might have been messed with up there.â
Hermanâs clue gave the police a new direction.
âMr. Salstrom, donât worry. Weâll get to the bottom of this.â
âGood, appreciate it.â
Herman walked them to the elevator. Their conversation was overheard by Julie, who had just arrived.
Hearing about the surveillance check at the villaâs parking lot, her face turned pale. She panicked, walked out another exit, and quickly dialed a number. âDad, Iâm in trouble, you have to help meâ¦â
Indeed, the one who had actually done something was Julie. She was previously relieved that Selena could be the scapegoat, but Selena steadfastly denied it. Now that the police and Herman began to question the accident. It couldnât be traced back to her, or sheâd be
screwed.
She just wanted to teach Anastasia a lesson; she hadnât expected such a serious car accident.
The accident happened and Anastasia was so lucky to survive. What a pity.
After the cops left, Anastasia fell into deep thought. Someone really wanted to harm her, and now she was in an inactive position, unable to prevent it. It was terrifying to think about.
âAnastasia.â Herman returned to the room. Seeing Anastasia lost in thought, he knew what she was thinking about.
He walked over, sat on the bed, held her hand, and said, âDonât worry, Iâve got your back.â
âWho do you think wants me dead? Iâve thought about it for a long time, but I really canât figure out who Iâve pissed off or who I have a deep grudge with,â Anastasia said casually. âDid you flirt with some other woman besides me?â
This was just a casual remark from Anastasia, but Herman took it to heart. After all, Anastasiaâs accident happened after Herman publicly announced that he was married.
âWhoever did it, I will find out⦠and get justice for you,â Herman said seriously.
The topic was too heavy and could easily cause unease, so Anastasia changed the subject. âHow is Pattie doing in kindergarten?â When Anastasia was unconscious, it seemed she had heard Pattieâs voice.
âPattie is very adaptable and has made many friends in kindergarten. When you were unconscious, I accompanied Pattie to some school activities. Let me show you the picturesâ¦â
Herman took out his phone and showed Anastasia the photos from the school group.
Herman had secretly sponsored Pattie and donated a lot of new equipment to the kindergarten. The principal was very shrewd, knowing Herman was a wealthy man. They tried to maintain a good relationship with him, and thatâs why he was in the school group.
Pattie was treated very well in school, the principal had already told the teachers to take special care of Pattie.
The photos and videos from the last parent-child activity were shared by the teachers in the group.
The video of Herman and Pattie playing games made a smile appear on Anastasiaâs face. Pattie looked so happy in it.
âItâs a pity that I didnât join you. I had promised Pattie before, but I didnât keep my promise.â
Anastasia was a little regretful.
Herman said, âThe school often has these activities, after you get discharged, we can accompany Pattie together.â
âHmm.â Anastasia was looking forward to this. She was browsing the photos and videos, and casually said, âIf I didnât know better, Iâd think that you and Pattie are father and daughter. You see, when you smile, you both have dimples on your faces. Itâs like looking in a
mirror.â
