Chapter 137
Pattieâs words were enough to bring a tear to your eye.
Herman held Pattie close and grumbled, âAlright, I wont take you home.â
Nelson wandered over and said. âMr. Salstrom, Kenny Ledford was looking for you at the office. Seems like the Ledfords are on their last legs, and they wanna talk about buying out Ledford Estate Managementâ
âSureâ Herman got up, took Pattie by the hand, and headed out.
Nelson dashed ahead to get to the car door.
Herman took Pattie to Elysian Technologies headquarters, where Kenny was already waiting in the reception room,
A female secretary approached. âMi. Salstromâ
âIrene, take Pattie to the playroom.â After giving his instructions to Irene, Herman crouched down to Pattie and said, âIâve got some stuff to take care of. You can go play with Irene for a bit, and Iâll come find you later.â
Pattie obediently nodded.
Herman gently tapped Pattieâs nose, then got up and headed towards the reception room. âNelson, get the contract ready We might need it todayâ
Herman had been stringing Kenny along. Now was the perfect time to buy out Ledford Estate Managemerit
Nelson responded, âYes, Mr. Salstrom.â
Secretary Irene took Pattie by the hand and said, âCome on, Pattie. Lets go playâ Pattie watched as Herman left, then followed Irene.
Elysian Technologies had a dedicated childrens playroom for any clients with kids. Pattie glanced at the slide, the carousel, and the ball pit, but didnât show any interest. She just sat on the foam mat, not talking, just sitting there blankly.
No matter
Irene tried to engage her, Pattie remained silent and didnât laugh. She didnât show any of the usual liveliness you would see in kids.
âIâm going to grab some fruit and snacks for you, Pattie. Just wait here for a minute, Irene said, though Pattie didnât respond. With a sigh, she went out to get the food. Irene didnât know what the relationship between this child and Mr. Salstrom was. As a subordinate, all she needed to do was carry out her bossâ orders
Irene went out to get some snacks. Just then, Katelyn, who had just returned from a trip, walked in carrying a limited-edition bag.
âIrene, whereâs my son?â Katelyn called out
Seeing Katelyn, Irene respectfully answered, âMalam, Mr. Salstrom is in the reception.â
âAll he does is work. When am I going to have a grandkid?â Katelyn grumbled. Then, noticing the snacks and candy in Ireneâs hand, she asked, âWho are -those for?â
âMaâam, theyâre for Pattie, Irene answered.
âWhoâs Pattie?â
âSheâs a little girl Mr. Salstrom brought in. She seems a bit down, so I got some candy to cheer her up,â Irene replied, not mentioning her suspicion that Pattie might have autism, seeing as she was so quiet.
Hearing that it was a little girl Herman had brought in, Katelyn became curious.
âWell, where is this Pattie? I want to see her.â
âSheâs in the playroom.â
Hearing this, Katelyn hurried off to the playroom. As soon as she entered, she spotted Pattie, who was sleeping on the foam mat Pattie was sleeping peacefully, looking like a little fairy who had somehow ended up in the human world. She was serene and beautiful.
âWhat a pretty little girl, Katelyn couldnt help but exclaim.
Despite Pattieâs obvious malnourishment, her features were delicate, her skin smooth, and her cheeks had a healthy glow
Not wanting to wake Pattie, Katelyn carefully approached her. Upon closer inspection, Katelyn was even more taken aback. âTrene, where did my son find this little girl? She looks like a little princess. Sheâs so beautiful. If only she were my granddaughter.â
1 donât know, maâam.â Irene shook her head.
âGo get a blanket. We donât want the child to catch a cold.â
Katelyn was eagerly hoping for a grandchild. Seeing such a cute and beautiful little girl, she wished she could take her home.
âOf course, maâam,â Irene smiled.
While Irene went to get a blanket, Katelyn crouched beside Pattie, feeling a strange sense of familiarity.
Pattle was having another nightmare, her body trembling in her sleep. Katelyn, the experienced mother, immediately picked her up and cradled her, patting her gently to reassure her. It was then that she noticed the red, circular birthmark on the back of Pattieâs neck, and her expression changed slightly.
