Chapter 105
Cason was in a pretty bad shape, canât leave the hospital for now.
When Monica arrived at the hospital, she coincidentally encountered a few individuals who had come to collect debts from Cason.
Casons fatherâs factory had been seized, and he himself had been detained, so these individuals frequently came to the hospital causing disturbances, demanding that Cason repay his fatherâs debts.
Monica stood at the ward door, heard Cason promising the debt collectors, âChill out, folks. Whatever my dad owes you, Iâll square it all up. Just give me a month. Once Iâm back on my feet, youâll get your moneyâ
The debt collectors were skeptical about Casonâs promise, all of them firing back, âWhy should we trust you, Kirkwoodâs company has bitten the dust, what else can you guys bring to the table?â
Demi jumped in, âGuys, cut us some slack, Iâm sure we can get the dough together.â
Cason gave Demi a nod, then Demi whipped out a promissory note for everyone to see.
Cason said. âIf you donât trust me, this note can serve as proof Amonth, and Iâll have all debts paid off. I canât run away. Iâm broke now, if you push me or get me killed, youâll get zilch. Might as well give me a shot.â
His words were convincing. All they wanted was the cash, no one had anything to gain from Casonâs death.
If Cason kicked the bucket, where would they collect their debts?
With Casonâs dad in the slammer, they cant exactly go to prison to demand payment.
The debt collectors thought it over for a bit, exchanged glances, then the ringleader took the promissory note and said, âFine, Iâll give you a month. If you donât pay up, you can go join your dad in jail. Letâs roll, guys.â
The ringleader waved his hand, leading the rest out.
Casonâs face was grim and he lowered his head, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, but the smille didnât reach his eyes and his whole person looked somber.
Monica was at the ward door, watching the debt collectors leave one by one. Just as she was about to enter the ward, she heard Demi say, âCason, where are you gonna get the money in a month? The losses from your dadâs factory and from the law firm total eight million bucks. You canât possibly repay
that.â
Demi was freaking out, but Cason seemed unfazed, snorting. âThereâs someone whoâd be willing to cough up the moneyâ
Demi asked puzzled, âWho? Who can cough up that much?â
Cason said cryptically. âEight million bucks or reputation, which do you think weighs more for the Salstrom family of Riverdale?â
âWhat? Whats the Salstrom family got to do with this?â Demi was confused.
Cason mumbled to himself, âWhether itâs eight million or ten, hed hand it over willingly, after all, who doesnât care about his dignity?â
âCason, what are you talking about?â Demi was completely lost. âYouâre thinking of borrowing from Herman? No way he d lend you anything, heâs the one who put the Kirkwood family in this state.â
Cason confidently said, âHe would.â
Monica was taken aback at the ward door
Did Cason really know that secret and planned to use it to blackmail Herman for money?
Considering all this, Monica couldnât help but rush into the ward, shouting, âCason.â
Cason and Demi were both surprised at Monicaâs appearance.
Cason then scoffed, Here to gloat? Whereâs that bitch Anastasia?â
âCason, watch your mouth, who are you calling names?â Monica snapped back, âAnastasiaâs been nothing but good to you, you brought this on yourself.â âI almost forgot, you and Anastasia are birds of a feather, both of you are bitchesâ Cason was like a rabid dog, biting at anyone he saw.
Monica lost it, âCason, you want me to send you to the ICU? You have no right to slander Anastasia, and you still want to get money from Herman, youâre shamelessâ
âThatâs what they owe me Cason laughed sarcastically, âYou and Anastasia are good friends, you must know what sheâs been up to. Sheâs been sleeping around behind my back, even got knocked up.â
