Chapter 100
Herman looked a bit chilly, furrowing his brows at the sight of Collin Witt entering the room,
âWhy are you here?â Herman asked, his voice deep.
âJust passing by and thought Id see what youâre up to. Havenât seen you about recently,â said Collin nonchalantly. He let Hermanâs secretary pour him a coffee, then made himself comfortable on the sofa. âHeard you gave Blake a beating yesterday? You havenât thrown a punch in years, quite strangeâ
âJust flexing my muscles a bit, Herman smirked. Just because i havent thrown any punches in years doesnt mean I ve forgotten how to fightâ
What could possibly make you use your fists? Heard it was over a girl?â Collin asked curiously
Herman corrected him casually âSheâs my wifeâ
âWife?â Collin choked on his coffee, coughing uncontrollably. âHerman, are you joking? When did you get married?â
Herman pulled out a marriage certificate from his drawer and placed it on the table. âLast month.â
Collin put down his coffee cup and hurriedly inspected the marriage certificate.
He saw a photo of Herman with a very beautiful woman. The document was definitely real, no doubt about it
âHerman you got mamed and didnât even invite me for a drink Collin exclaimed. Thats heartlessâ
invite you when we have the wedding said Herman stowing away the certificate like a precious gem, locking it back in the drawer
Collin pinched himself; it hurt, so he wasnât dreaming
âI thought at most youd be dating someone, didnât think youd go and get married,â said Collin. âTonight you must bring your wife to meet me Youâve kept this a big secret.â
âNot tonight, Herman said âWe can catch up laterâ
With the Ledford family matters unresolved and Anastasia now fired, he wasnât in the mood to introduce her to Collin tonight
âBecause of the Ledford family thing?â Collin asked, sitting down. âYouâve cost Ledford Corporation billions. Kenny must be cryingâ
âHe should be,â Herman replied, his voice steady, his index finger tapping against the table âThe crisis at Ledford Corporation is snowballing. Itâs only going to get worseâ
âAre you going to completely destroy them?â Collin asked, a hint of fear in his voice.
Iâve given them a chance to survive, Herman smirked Kenny will probably have to sell Ledford Estate Management to keep his head above water.â Collin said, âThe market opened this morning with Ledford Corporationâs stocks nosediving, Selling it now wouldnât do much goodâ
-âHe has no other choice, Herman said casually, sipping his coffee. âLedford Estate Management is the only valuable asset left. Ledford Corporations
debt to the bank has to be cleared this year
Collin watched Herman in thought for a moment, then voiced his suspicion, Something seems off. Did you have your eye on Ledford Estate Management from the start?â
âYes,â replied Herman calmly.
Collin fell silent
âHaving lost billions to you and now with the possibility of you buying Ledford Estate Management for a song, Kenny might just faint,â Colith teased. âYouâve had a good run in both love and business. Your wife must be your lucky charm.â
Hermanremained silent, memories of the lovely morning with Anastasia flashing in his mind. He yearned to be a king with nothing to do, living a leisurely life with his queen.
Collin seemed to remember something and laughed, Herman, do you remember the night I left for abroad a few years ago? We all went to the club for a drink to send me offâ
âI vaguely remember Herman said
Collin said, âThat night, we planned to get you drunk and have you do something silly, but in the end, we lost you. We thought you had some sort of allness. By the time we found you, your clothes were gone. Twe held onto this memory for years, just to ask you, did you meet a hot chick that night?â
Herman frowned, it was a few years ago, and his memory was fuzzy.
He was indeed drunk that night and had almost no memory of it, only that he had been having an ambiguous dream since.
âI was drunk. I donât remember,â said Herman seriously.
1 bet you met a hot chick, Collin said provocatively. âI saw the scratch marks on your neck. Definitely left by a woman.â
