She looks at sunsets with awe,
Sees their beauty up close and raw,
She looks at models and wonders how God made them so perfect,
She looks at flowers and takes them in,
Each more beautiful than the other,
If only she looked within,
And looked at herself like she looks at the flowers,
Maybe then she would see herself differently,
And feel more empowered,
She looks at babies and animals with soft eyes,
But if only she looked at herself and saw the beauty that lies,
In the irises of her pupils,
In the strands of her hair,
In the curl of her lips,
In the specks of her fingertips,
If only she looked at herself the way she does at them,
Maybe then she would realize the beauty that always has been within.
