The beach. The beach. THE BEACH. WE WERE FINALLY ON THE BEACH.
I ran towards the sea. I could feel the sand underneath my feet still wet because of the rain which just stopped a while ago every time I took a step forward but it didn't matter. I could see the sea waiting for me, making sounds and trying to reach for me.
I felt a wave of relief pass through me the second the waves hit my ankles.
I looked back jumping happily and saw Alec walking towards me with a smile on his face. Even though it was night I could see his face in the moonlight.
The wind made his blonde hair blow away from his face while he put one of his hands in his pocket.
"Hurry up." I hurried himâmotioning with my hands.
He laughed shaking his head. I ran back to him and taking him by his arms dragged him with me.
I was not letting him miss this fun.
"It's cold, isn't it?" I asked the moment both of our feet were touched with the small waves making their way.
"It is." He said holding my hand.
I could feel myself freezing as I felt his hands intervening with mine. I couldn't move my head to look at him. I was only looking ahead at the sea with the full moon.
The waves pulled back before coming back.
I could feel my heart beating fast against my chest. To get my attention off his hands which were wrapped around mine and the way they just felt warm I tried asking him a question.
"Why the beach?"
I could see him turning his head to look at me through my peripheral vision. I looked at him and found him looking at me intently.
"We could have gone anywhere. Why did you think of beach?" I elaborated.
He thought for a while before looking ahead. I could still feel the warmness of his hands as he said,
"Do you really want to know?"
Of course I did. Why would I ask him otherwise.
Using his other hand he pointed out into the vast stretch of sea. I looked at him confused. Then slowly he pointed his finger a little upwards.
He was pointing towards the horizon where the land and the sky met.
What about it?
"Look carefully." It was as if he read my mind, "After the rain stops and the dark clouds go away, this always remind me that there is still clearance. That it will not always be filled with dark clouds. They will go away once." He looked down at me with his oceanic blue eyes twinkling, "and when they do, the stars will come back to shine brighter. Just like now."
I couldn't remove my eyes from his. It was like he was holding me in a trance.
"The beach. The sea." His voice was soft, "It only makes them look more beautiful when they let the stars shine brighter once again in them."
I knew what he was talking about. I couldn't help but look ahead at the stars. He was right. They were shining brighter. Luminous. And pretty.
I sighed.
I saw Alec walking towards the sea. I looked at him confused before he bent down and took a handful of water in his hands. I was still watching him when it all happened suddenly.
He threw the water at me. In my face. Directly.
My mouth wide opened I stared at him. What the heck? All of a sudden?
I could see him smirking at me.
How much I want to wipe that smirk off his face.
Without wasting any more time I ran ahead and attacked him with a series of water splashes.
"You enjoy that?? You want more?" I continued splashing him. I could hear him laughing as he covered his face.
"You will get tired eventually. I will not go easy on you." He turned his face to the other side.
Dang it. He was right. My arms were already hurting by moving them continually. But I cannot let him get to me. Not right now!
So I started using my legs. I would swing them in the water making it all hit him and get him soaked.
"Oh you are evil." He said once he noticed that I changed my tactics.
If I kept my tactics going on it would take a while and he knew it too because rather than waiting anymore he started attacking me back with the water. He started using his leg too.
I stepped away trying to avoid the water.
He laughed in a evil voice making me look at him, "Guess who is already soaked in water again and doesn't care about it anymore?"
Oh no.
"Guess who is getting his payback?" He asked with a mischievous look on his face.
I couldn't help but laugh in a meek voice. He isn't going to, is he? I tried to give him an innocent look but he shook his head.
Dammit.
I held my hand out for him to stop him for a second, "Guess who is running away?" I said lastly before running away.
"Serene! Stop!" I could hear him running behind me.
I screamed on top my lungs as I felt him getting closer to me. Putting in more efforts I tried running harder.
"That's not fair!" He yelled.
"The world is unfair." I replied.
"Stop." He said again but I wasn't listening to him because he was literally just behind me now.
Why does he have to have those long legs? How can he move that fast in water?
Is he a fish or what moving around the water so fast?
I could see that he was already catching up to me so I tried to change my direction.
Don't ask me why I thought that was a better idea because the second I tried to outwit him (that's what I thought) by running in the opposite direction, he stretched his arms out to hold onto me.
He did hold. Not my arms or anything though.
No.
HE HELD ONTO MY HAIR.
I screamed in pain. My hair. My poor hair. My scalp. God. Not my hair. Alec realised he was holding onto my hair because he let it go almost immediately and apologised.
If only apologies worked! Can he return my lost hair? NO, RIGHT?
I stomped my foot towards him as he looked at me afraid. He doesn't have to be afraid. What is the most I could do? A punch? Yes. A punch in the gut is definitely the least I could do right now.
And so I did. I punched him in the gut for making my hair suffer.
He held his stomach lightly before looking at me with bewilderment, "But I apologised!"
"Really? Then I am sorry too." I smiled at him sweetly.
He stared at me like I have gone mad.
"Stop looking at me like that." I mumbled.
"What?"
I groaned, "Just shut up." And I pushed him back a little.
Little did I know that my push would make him lose his balance.
Now the thing is, I wouldn't have cared much if he had just fallen by losing his balance. He was already soaked for god's sake!
But the idiot decided that he couldn't go alone so held onto my arm and being tall and heavy person he was he actually made me fall with him in the water.
God, wasn't I feeling sour towards him.
I coughed out some water which had entered into my mouth as I tried to get up. Alec's hand was still in mine as I tried to shake it off.
"Well that was fun." He muttered as he sat in the water now.
"Shut up." I grumbled as I tried to get the water out of my top by squeezing it.
"Don't be mad." He said.
I snapped my head to his and I swear to god I contemplated once again to punch him but I tried to stay cool by controlling myself.
"Sorry?" He said with puppy eyes and his deep yet soft voice.
Kill me already.
