Chapter 0073
Calvin couldnât understand why Hansel had done all those things when he actually couldnât bear to part with Miranda.
In the end, the person whoâd ended up in a bind was Hansel himself!
Mirandaâs apartment was a mess after Hansel had shown up unannounced last night.
After he left, she cleaned the place thoroughly. Since it was late by the time she was done, she decided against going to the library. Instead, she did her revision by solving two questions that day.
For dinner, Miranda prepared two tortilla wraps, but she couldnât finish them, By the time she finished cleaning up the kitchen and sat down, it was already 8:00 pm.
She planned on solving another question before going to bed. As she was setting her alarm, her phone vibrated.
She checked her phone and saw that someone had sent her a friend request. The personâs profile only displayed the name âSam Cooperâ.
Miranda blinked in confusion. She couldnât understand why Sam had sent her a friend request.
Sam was one of Hanselâs close friends. However, Miranda didnât know him well personally. Theyâd met at social gatherings and dinners multiple times. Yet, theyâd never spoken to each other much.
After a momentâs consideration, Miranda approved the friend request. She was worried Sam mightâve sent the request to talk about something urgent.
Strangely, though, nothing happened even after half an hour had passed. It appeared that Sam mightâve sent the request by mistake..
Miranda found it strange, but she didnât dwell on it. She put her phone aside and continued working on solving the question.
At the bar, Sam put his phone away and lifted his gaze. He spotted Calvin, whoâd returned to the bar after taking Hansel home.

He nanowed his eyes. âYou took him home safely?â
Calvin nodded and took a big gulp of his drink. Good thing I left as fast as I could. It wouldâve been bad if iâd run into Mrs. Johnson.â
Evelyn had stopped by the mansion frequently in the past two days. Everyone whoâd happened to run into her had been subjected to a round of intense questioning.
âBy the way, you said you were busy whenever we tried to get you to hang out with us recently. How come youâre free tonight?â
Sam gazed at the brandy in his glass and smiled slightly. âWell, Iâve finished settling
my matters.
âAh! I just remembered something.â Calvin put his glass down.
âWhat is it?â
âHas Miranda finished taking the postgraduate admission exam?â
Sam answered, âIt was two days ago.â
âHuh?â
âIt ended two days ago.â
Calvin snickered. âYou remember that so well.â
Sam curled his lips. âWhen have I ever forgotten about these things?â
âHmm. As expected of someone whoâs in the finance industry. Youâre always so detail
-oriented.â owns all © content.
Sam replied, âThanks for the compliment.
âYou donât even bother acting humble. Also, itâs been almost six months now. Yet, Hans and Miranda still havenât gotten back together. How unbelievable!â
Sam responded with a hum.
âAre you not surprised by this?â
âWhy would I be?â Sam said rather indifferently, âIt was bound to happen sooner or later.â
âYouâre right. Theyâre bound to get back together sooner or later.â Calvin interpreted those words according to his own assumptions.
Sam was rendered speechless by his response. âThat reminds me. Youâre close to Miranda, right?â
Calvin puffed up his chest. âOf course! Iâve even had Mirandaâs signature dish, the cream of vegetable soup, before. Weâre not just close. Weâre super close!â
Samâs eyes gleamed with a
sheâs completed with her exterious glint. âShouldnât!
do something now that
You should celebrate with her.â
âCelebrate? How do I celebrate with her?â Calvin was stumped.
âWhy not treat her to a meal? This way, you might even be able to help those two reconcile.â
Calvinâs eyes lit up as he thought about Hansel, whoâd been drinking heavily these days. âYouâre right. Why havenât I thought of that? Miranda wonât accept an invitation from Hans, but she will if itâs from me.
âIâll arrange a gathering with an excuse to celebrate Miranda completing her exam. Then, weâll create an opportunity for the two of them toâ¦â
âThatâs a brilliant idea.â Sam nodded. He raised the glass to his mouth and concealed the slight smile on his lips.
