33. The Alisberg Lake

EMMA'S POV

When I woke up the first thing I noticed was the dark and cold room that I was kept in, the floor I was sitting on was cold and so were the metal chains that held my hands and legs, they were long enough to let me move a bit around the room but not too much, anytime I tried to move the chain would burn probably because it was covered in wolfsbane. There were no door's or windows in the room except the one door, which was probably locked and it's not like I can reach it. My clothes were torn, I can feel the dried blood on my wrists and ankles as the wolfsbane on the chains won't let me heal myself.

The worst thing was I didn't even know how long has it been since they bought me here. All I remember is going to check on the girl, whose name is still a mystery to me, and her attacking me from behind and me passing out probably because she made me inhale some herb that'd make me sleep or some shit like that.

After waiting for god knows how long the door finally opeaned revealing the girl, "oh so you're alive", she said looking at me with disgust making me roll my eyes at her and before I knew what happened I felt my left cheek burn and I realised she just slapped me.

"He wouldn't want you to do that Zoe", a male voice said from the doorway. I couldn't see the speaker but it seemed like he could see me.

"I don't care. She deserves it anyways for taking away whats mine", she raised her hand to slap me again but suddenly someone blocked her, the guy who blocked her, turned around his platinum blonde hair falling on his silver blue eyes, he gave me a smile which was supposed to make me feel better but it didn't work as the smile didn't even reach his eyes making him look cruel.

"Hi, I'm Ivan. Nice to meet you", he said taking my hand in his and kissing my wrist, if the situation wasn't how it was, if I wasn't being held captive and if I wasn't already in love with someone else, I might've thought the act was charming but right now all I felt was disgust. I pulled my hand back not caring about the chains burning me making him raise his eyebrows at me, "you're feisty. Nice", he said his eyes roaming all over my body making me feel more and more disgusted with him.

"Do you speak?", He asked again.

"Ofcourse she does although I think I'll just have to make her do it ", Zoe said taking a step towards me but Ivan stopped her by saying, "he's calling us come on", and they left without another word locking the door again unfortunately.

When some times passed they gave me some food which consisted of some dry bread and water after which I instantly passed out meaning they mixed the sleeping herbs in my food too.

The next day I didn't eat it after realising they'd try to mix the herbs in every meal. So they stopped. And decided to inject it directly. After that I decided to eat as I was going to have to take the herb anyway, atleast I'd have some kind of energy in my body.

The next days were the same, they'd let me use bathroom, one meal a day, and some doses of the herbs which just didn't make me sleep but weak as well.

It was the same everyday, until one day I heard some people talking, "he wants to see her, soon. We'll have to prepare her", after that there were two meals per day which was a bit better than earlier. I knew my kidnapper wanted to see me soon so I decided to not waste any energy as it might help me in future when I need it.

After a few days, exactly after my meal when they usually druged me, the door opeaned and came in a man whom I was seeing for the first time and I hoped it was the last as there was this dangerous, bad and powerful aura around him. He went to the corner of the room and pulled the chains so now I was hanging by the wall my legs not even touching the floor.

He took my face in one of his hand making me look directly in his eyes and I did without hesitation but what shocked me was that his eyes were identical to mine making me gasp and ask, "who are you?".

"The real question here is, who are you?" He replied.

"What are you talking about?", I asked.

"You'll know soon, very soon", he said and left. I thought that was it until two men came in with different knieves in their hands surprisingly not covered in wolfsbane because when they cut my skin with it, it healed almost immediately. I realised later that their point was to make me suffer as much as possible and almost drain me of all my powers.

Almost.

As what shocked me was after they left and all I could do was lie their and think about my family, my friends, my pack and most importantly my mate I heard a voice, more like felt it in my head that belonged to my mate say, "Emma?"

"Ethan", was all I could reply with before I passed out again.

ETHAN'S POV

"Found anything yet?", I asked the pack members who were send to find Emma. They shook their heads not even one of them saying a word. "Nothing?", I asked hoping to find something, anything about where she was? Or what was even happening to her? The mark on my neck burned in a painful way and it just kept increasing telling me something was very wrong. I told the others to leave a frustrated sigh left my mouth as punched the wall of my office thinking it'd help but it didn't.

At this moment the only thing that could calm me was a certain stubborn, feisty yet caring blonde who was the reason of my agitation. I decided to go back to our room so atleast her scent would help me think peacefully, which seemed to work till the door opeaned and Zach stepped in.

To say he wasn't in a good shape would be the understatement of the year, as the moment his sister went missing he was the first one to leave to find her. We had to force him to even rest as he was hell bent on finding her. His clothes were crumpled, and the shadows under his eyes told the story of his sleepless nights. When he looked at me his face lacked any emotion, my bestfriend was long gone, right now he was the brother who failed to protect his sister and would do anything to have her back even if that meant threatening their Alpha.

I was sure he was here to warn me or something but then he said, "Please Ethan, find her", his voice cracking mid-sentence causing me to look at him as a traitor tear ran down his cheek which he immediately wiped but obviously not soon enough.

"I will. I promise", I said more like trying to convince myself, and then pulled him into a hug he didn't return it right away but then his arms slowly wrapped around mine and his shoulders started shaking making me realise he was crying.

The strong front of the guy who never gave a shit about anything, who never worried too much was just a cover Zach always held; but never in our friendship had I ever seen him breakdown. I decided to let him calm down, after a while he left when Anne came to call him which was probably good as she'd be more helpful than me.

Again when I was left alone with my thoughts my mind went back to all the good times, even the smallest things and little moments which I realised weren't that small. Our midnight talks, and early morning cuddles which I always complained about, our work dates which ended in both of us falling asleep in the office, our laughs and her scoldings about even the silliest things, all of that came crashing back to me, all I could think of was her, from her scent to her smile my mind was clouded with her thoughts when I felt myself saying her names and then I heard it, a faint whisper in my head, "Ethan".

I thought I was dreaming but then I remembered about the link we had because of the matebond, it gave every pair of mates a stronger connection which made it easier to talk to eachother even though they were far away from eachother which must be what happened right now. I tried to do it again, using all of my focus and power on it, trying to find a way to get to her but I got nothing. I kept trying for the next few hours even when I was working hoping to know something but it was all useless.

I thought it must've happened in the heat of the moment or something but then I woke up again around midnight, sweat covering my forehead, my head was pounding as if someone was trying to get in my head, so I took a deep breath trying to calm down and relaxing when I heard it again, "the Alisberg lake", and then the voice was gone.

Everything was silent again but now there was hope of having her back in my arms, soon. I mindlinked some members of the pack, grateful for having the gift of being able to mindlink my pack, that we were having a meeting, none of them complained about having a meeting at almost two in the morning when we were all gathered in the room I finally broke my silence and said, "I think I know where she is."
