32. Red Velvet Cake

ETHAN'S POV

I sighed, putting the pen down as I completed another part of the paper work that had been procatisnated by me in the past just to spend a little time with my mate which always turned out to be more than little. So when she was gone, or more like when Rose took her away, I decided to use this time and also regretting not completing my work earlier.

My muscles ached because of sitting on the chair for too long, the girls left around morning and now it was almost evening, which also made me worry about them and then a desperate knock came before the door opeaned making me alert cause nobody, except my parents or Emma, entered my office without permission.

"Someone's trespassing", Zach said between heavy breaths.

"Where?", I asked standing up ignoring the pain in my back.

"The north side. We gotta hurry", he said as we started running towards the north as it was one of the most common area for the pack civilians to hang out, consisting of cafes and shops, plus the chance of Emma and Rose being there was pretty high.

Some of us turned and some stayed in their human forms ready to fight whoever has trespassed our territory when we finally reached there some of our guards had already caught the culprit as they stood around him with him on his knees, his hand behind his head as he was completely helpless or so we thought until he smirked lightly looking at all of us and then he closed his eyes all of us stood there frozen when suddenly red smoke appeared out of  nowhere blocking our view and when we were able to see the first thing that came into our view were a huge pair of red wings as the guy gave us a fanged smile and flew away before we can process what happened.

"He's a vampire?", Someone from the crowd said or more like scream.

Out of instincts I jumped towards him at the same time turning into my huge brown wolf, I almost missed him but caught his leg pulling him with me.

We landed on opposite sides, "Look I don't want to hurt anyone. I'm just here for someone whose really important to me so get out of my way and let me do my thing and you won't even know I was here. But if you don't...", He said shrugging carelessly rolling his shoulders getting ready to fight as he knew we weren't gonna let him go.

I didn't move from my position, my paws digging deeper into the ground, as a challenging growl escape my mouth. Both of us moved at the same time aiming for eachothers head but I ended up on top of him scratching the side of his face only a bit before he turned us and scratched my left paw, my left hand when I turn back, with his elongated nails which did hurt pretty bad but not enough for me to give up.

His wound wasn't healing and neither was mine because of our rival natures specially when we wanted to harm one another. We got a few more hits on eachother until a voice came from the crowd, "STOP!"

Making both of our heads turn towards the voice and my heart almost stopped as I saw Rose and Emma both walking towards us with a worrying look on their faces. As I was distracted the vampire took his chance punching me and I barely turned causing him to hit my cheekbone and not my nose but within seconds his weight was lifted from me as I turned I saw Emma straddling him with one of her hand extended into paw that she kept against his neck and then she asked him, "What's your business here?"

"I-Rose", he said in a breathless voice. Nobody seem to understand what he meant, well except Emma and Rose herself as Emma's expression turned from anger to the one of shock pretty quick.

She stood up letting him stand too, most of the guards tried to attack but I called them off wanting to know the reason behind letting him go by Emma herself, but before anyone can ask we got our answers as Rose herself went to the guy and wrapped him in a hug being careful not hurting him but it all went in vain as he returned her gesture by pressing her body again his tightly.

The way touched eachother told me it wasn't something friendly but more like romantic, with that though my eyes went to Jack who too apparently had understood the situation and looked like was trying his best to not show any emotions.

ALISTER'S POV

Stupid. It sounded like the correct word for the werewolves, well for most of them. Literally attacking me for doing nothing. But I finally had my floare in my arms and that what mattered; not the fact that she might probably kill me for pulling this little stunt, just having her back again in my arms was worth everything.

"You're so stupid, I hate you", she said with her arms still around me making me chuckle.

"How can you laugh? I swear to god I'm going to kill you", she said finally pulled away and looking at the injuries the wolf guy gave me, to be honest he was kinda good but no way in hell I was ever gonna accept that.

"And I'd be my pleasure to die if you're the one doing it", I whispered in her ear making the blood rush to her face but our moment was interrupted with someone clearing their throat. I turned to see the wolf who had pushed me.

She has this powerful aura around her, which was pretty impressive as she was literally a teen but the way she carried herself, you can feel the power radiating from her as she asked me, "So you're the Alister?", her voice not wavering once, as her eyes narrowed.

"The Alister?", I asked raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah well, this one won't stop blabbering about her almighty mate", she said looking at Rose giving her a smirk which got her a glare in return. But my focus was more on the part where she said Rose didn't stop talking about me.

"Yeah well that's me", I said shrugging and flinching as I must have hurt my shoulder or my wings while fighting.

"Yeah well, you two can do this somewhere more... private", she said pointing a finger towards us and then continued, "and I'll explain what happened, lets go", she said and almost immediately everyone started following her.

Rose took me to her house, after I disappeared my wings, which was fortunately empty as her dad was an engineer and because he worked for humans too her mom and dad both were constantly traveling leaving her alone for most of the time. I caught a glimpse of sadness in her eyes as she talking about them being away but I didn't push the matter not wanting to force her into telling me something she wasn't comfortable with.

Then we went up to her room and it definately matched her personality. Most of the furniture was dark brown, her bedsheets and curtains were cream coloured, there were some photos and other personal stuff all of it totally organised, it was spacious with a small balcony kind of thing, plus a door which must lead to her closet and also another door which lead to her bathroom.

She pulled me into the bathroom and told me to sit on the tub when she came back with what looked like some healing stuff I expected for her to put it on me but her being the unpredictable person that she is she literally handed it over to me.

When I blankly stared at her she said, "Put it on yourself, I'm not helping you", turning to leave when I pulled her back wrapping my arms around her with her back again my chest as I said, "I'm sorry."

Without even looking at me she said, "So am I" and left.

A tired sigh left my mouth. All these years whenever I thought I'd have a mate I always expected a shy girl, who'll cook for me and shit I know it was kind of sexist but now that I look at her I think she's perfect for me. Turning towards the mirror I tried to remove the blood but my right shoulder was in too much pain, it felt like I might have dislocated it. Everytime I'd try to move I'd just discovered another injury which just made my task more difficult.

After a while Rose came in and took the ointments and bandages from me, pulling me to sit on the bathtub again.

"You know you've got alot of making up to do", she said removing the blood from my face, the scratch on my face was almost healed but it still needed some cleaning.

Rose tried to clean it standing a bit away from me being careful to not even mistakenly hurt me but then I pulled her to stand between my legs and said, "you know I think I can make that red velvet cake you love", looking at her face as her eyes lit up at the mention of it alone, bringing a smile at my face aswell.

"I think your shoulder is dislocated. I think I can fix it", she said eyeing my shoulder.

"You think? Um- I-we should just go to the doc you know", I said trying to not show the unsurity in my eyes.

"Come on, I've been doing this for a long time. I'll just move it at three okay?", She said in a dismissing tone and I nodded hesitatingly. I took a deep breath and tried to relax as much as possible and then gave her an encouraging nod.

"1", she said and suddenly moved my shoulder causing a wave of pain to pass but then it eventually reduced as I tried to move my shoulder it felt normal. I looked at her with shock and a look of betrayal but she just shrugged saying, "it's a trick that never fails".

"How do you even know how to do that?", I asked and her reply was, "When you grow up fighting with boys you just pick up these little things". There weren't any other major injuries as some of them were already healed others were just small scratches or bruises. After that she handed me a shirt which was probably her dads and then we went downstairs to make the cake I promised her.

ETHAN'S POV

Emma told us about Rose and her vampire mate as all of us listened to her carefully as a vampire and a werewolf being mates was almost impossible to even think about, let alone it being true. I don't think its ever happened before in the history but then again if two people were meant to be mates then I don't think their differences can bother them because from what I saw with Rose and the vampire, Alister, they did look at eachother the way I think I probably look at Emma.

Jack was still quite his brows furrowed deep as if he was in deep thoughts. When we reached the pack house Emma asked, "Will you be okay for a while? I kinda need to talk to Jack", nodding her head towards him and I nodded.

I just went back to our room and started to wash the blood off of my left arm and clean it as the other wounds were almost healed on the way back here.

When vampires and werewolves gave eachother injuries it took longer than normal for them to heal but they did heal eventually also taking up most of our energy. With the work I did this morning and the fight I was pretty tired so I just decided to lay down for a while just hoping for Emma to be back soon so I can just bury my head in her neck, smell her and relax; the thought of it alone made my wolf purr.

A few minutes passed, turning into an hour making me worry about her. Deep inside there was this feeling telling me that something indeed was wrong so I went to Jack's room. When he opeaned the door he too looked like he's been asleep for a while now. Maybe they were just tired and feel asleep after talking for a bit?

"Where's Emma?", I said trying to look past him into his room just to confirm she's okay.

"Emma?", He asked with a confused look his mind was still probably fogged with sleepyness. But then he continued, "Yeah well she was here when we came back we talked and then she left saying she might check up on that girl Rose bought you know", he said running a hand through his hair.

"Well she isn't back yet!", I said in a urgent tone and now all the sleep from Jack's face was gone too.

"What? She might be with that girl lets go", he said, both of us walking towards one of the guest room where the girl was supposed to be. We knocked a few times but when nobody answered, we tried to open it and it wasn't locked; when we went inside the room was pretty much the same everything left untouched except the bed, we checked the bathroom and the closet and yet found nothing until my eyes fell on a small note on the study table. Which said,

We have her. Don't worry we're not going to kill her, yet. Just making her realise who she is. If you want her, come and get her.

And I knew they were talking about Emma.

Yes my lovely snowflakes I updated early. Even I myself can't believe it, plus this is like one of the biggest chapter I've written and from now on most of the chapters will be bigger as I first thought I might end this book in 30-40 chapter when I started writing but we can see how its going so I'll try to make the chapters as big as possible.
