"Good morning, Lily. It's been three days now and I miss those ocean eyes, your voice, your laugh and your smartass comments. Come on, baby, wake up for me"

Jason sat on the hospital bed next to his wife as he hugged her sideways and talked to her like he did for the past three days. He placed one of his hands on Lily's belly and talked to his baby girl too.

"Hi there, Hope. I can't wait to see you, sweetheart. I knocked you miss mommy's voice just like me, but don't worry everything's gonna be alright. Mommy is strong and she'll get through this, right?"

And then Jason felt it.

A small kick to his hand that was placed on Lily's belly. It's like Hope was there listening to him and the happiness Jason felt just from this little kick was bigger than the ocean.

Lily's parents entered the room and upon seeing Jason's smile they thought that Lily woke up. Her mother rushed to her side with a smile on her face, but that smile slowly faded as she saw her daughter's eyes still closed and her body unmoving.

Disappointment bubbled through her as she cupped her daughter's face and placed a kiss on her forehead. Her husband stood by her side and held her close to his chest, trying to support her to stay strong.

"What happened? Why are you smiling?" Lily's mother asked Jason.

"Hope, she kicked my hand"

"Hope? You gave her a name without Lily?"

"No, Lily named her. She's our hope"

Lily's mother shared a look with her husband before looking back at Jason with confusion before she decided to drop the matter for now.

A knock echoed through the room grabbing everyone's attention before the door swung open and in cane Lily's doctor holding some files in his hand, but that look on his face was enough to wipe that happiness Jason felt for a few minutes.

"Good morning, doctor, any good news?" Lily's dad asked.

The doctor sighed and looked down at the file in his hand then back at everyone in the room. Jason stood up from the bed and walked towards him slowly, waiting for him to talk.

"Unfortunately, I have some bad news"

Lily's mother squeezed her husband's hand in fear and looked back at Jason who had a straight face. But underneath that cold mask was a fire of emotions swirling inside of him.

"What is it?" Jason asked.

"We did everything we could to make Lily feel better, but her body isn't responding to any treatment. Her body gave up on fighting"

"W-what do you mean? She won't w-wake up? She will stay in a coma forever ?" Lily's mother failed to keep herself together.

"No. She won't stay in a coma forever, but she will be in a coma in her last few hours."

"What do you mean?" Lily's dad asked, as he was about to lose his temper.

"Lily has one day, a maximum of two days, before cancer completely takes over her body"

"My daughter's gonna die?" Lily's mother cried out.

"I'm sorry, there's nothing left for us to do"

Jason who was silent the whole time, grabbed the doctor's collar and pushed him back to the wall in anger.

"What do you mean she's going to die?! You said there's a new treatment, you said she's going to get better! She didn't want to spend her last days in the hospital, but you said she won't and that she will recover and now you're standing in front of me telling me there's nothing else you can do and she's gonna be dead by tomorrow?!" Jason screamed in his face.

"Mr. King, I am truly sorry. Lily was like my daughter, but believe me I tried my best to make her recover"

"Bullshit! I don't fucking believe you"

"Jason, son, calm down" Jason's father said as he and his wife entered the room only to see this scene in front of them.

"Don't tell me to calm down, dad. Did you hear what he just said? He said Lily's gonna die tomorrow." Jason suddenly turned towards the doctor as a question popped up on his mind.

"What about my daughter? What will happen to our baby?"

"There's a big chance that she will alright and that we could save her, but I can't promise you anything, she's still not ready to be born"

"This is not happening, I am not gonna lose both of my girls."

"Come on, honey, let's go out for a bit, yeah?" Jason's mother told him.

"No, I am not leaving Lily's side"

"Honey, it's just for a few minutes. Her parents and your dad will be by her side, you need some fresh air."

Jason hesitantly nodded and left the room not before he glanced one more time back at Lily.

She's going to die. How can he ever accept that idea?

Jason and his mother sat in the hospital's garden. Jason closed his eyes and breathed deeply trying to stay calm, but his leg that was shaking rapidly showed otherwise.

His mother placed a hand on his leg to stop his leg from moving and it worked. Jason looked back at his mom with bloodshot eyes and that look in her son's eyes broke her heart.

It's not easy for a mom to see her kid breaking apart in front of her and yet she can't do anything about it.

"Jason, honey , you have to stay strong for Lily and your daughter and especially for your own self. I know this is hard more than anything, but you can't do this to yourself."

"I don't want to live without them, mom, the thought itself kills me. How can I live without Liky in my life? How am I gonna live with the thought that I lost my wife and my daughter who I never get to see?"

Jason looked behind him as he heard a cry. A girl was breaking down in tears as her parents tried to calm her down, but they themselves were crying.

"He died, mom, he left me alone. What will I do without him" The girl cried out in pain.

Jason imagined himself in her place and he could take it anymore.

"I can't stay here, I need to leave for a little bit, mom." Jason said as his breath got cought in his throat.

"Where are you going?"

But Jason didn't answer he just ran out if the place as his mother kept calling his name. She didn't want him to be all alone with his thoughts.

Jason ran out in the road and almost got hit by a car, but that didn't stop him. He kept running and running till he couldn't breathe anymore, till his legs burned in pain and his knees gave up on him as he reached his destination.

Looking at the small cabin where he first met Lily he cried his heart out. He saw her everywhere around him, when they hid from the rain, when they had their date, when they came here every time they needed to run away from everything around them.

Jason screamed on the top of his lungs in pain and distress. His heart was on fire and no matter how much he tried to calm it down it just kept getting worse and worse.

"Why, God, why? Why do you have to take my pure flower, my Lily? What has she ever done? She's the purest soul ever, why do you have to take her away from me?"

Jason had so much anger coursing through his veins he started hitting the cabinet with his bare fist to relieve some pressure, but with every hit he got angrier and angrier.

"Why did you let us meet if you were going to take her away from me? Why did you let me fall in love with her if she's going to leave me all alone?"

Jason kicked the cabin's door open and rumbled through the stuff he kept in it before finding the bottle of alcohol he was looking for.

He opened it and sprayed it all over the cabin from inside and from outside, then he pushed a piece of cloth in the remaining alcohol and burnt it before throwing the bottle into the cabin's window.

He watched the flames burning everything in its way and swallowing the cabin entirely. He thought the fire inside of him would calm down, he thought that burning the cabin would give him some type of relief and peace.

But it didn't, in fact it only made him sadder seeing his favorite place, the place where he and Lily first met, turning into ashes by his own hands.

He stood there , frozen, watching the fire.

The reflection of fire in Jason's eyes reflected the fire burning inside of him as he fell on his knees again in despair....
