Chapter 3: 𝐼

A Shriveling FlowerWords: 9038

❕This book will be narrated from third person POV

The dark gloomy clouds roared with thunder as raindrops fell down heavily and harshly soaking the whole town.

The once dried streets flooded with rain and the grass that used to look all shriveled had more than enough water seeping through its soil.

And through all this chaos and crazy weather a splash of water grabbed Jason's attention. It was someone's hurried steps running through the water puddles that were caused by the storm.

Jason didn't expect anyone to be here ,in his safe place, away from everyone. It was a small abandoned cabin that used to sell coffee to the passing cars.

It was on the top of the hill and had a big window that overlooked the city. Jason would usually sit on its roof , but obviously the weather wasn't suitable .

And then someone crashed his peace and frantically entered .

It was a girl.

It was too dark for Jason to see her face , but he was sure that it was a girl from her silhouette

Jason didn't move and Lily didn't notice him either.

Lily thought she was all alone and wasn't aware of the pretty boy who was sitting in the corner studying her.

She tried to get her now soaked hair ,that was sticking to her face ,away from her eye. She cursed quietly as a strand of hair accidentally got inside of it.

Jason faintly smiled at the girl when he heard her muttering "fricking stupid hair". He found her entertaining and adorable.

Lily never actually cursed, she just simply didn't like too, but don't let that fool you she wasn't a quiet shy little girl.

Matter of fact she was quite the opposite

She was like a firecracker that is ready to blow in your face if you trigger it. And that's why her being in the same room with the fire itself wasn't really good.

"It's freezing." Lily said to no one in particular.

"What do you expect after running under the rain in this cold weather." Jason said, announcing his presence.

Lily , who was scared shitless , screamed loudly in fear.

She thought it was a ghost .

I mean you'd think the same if you were alone in the middle of nowhere, in the dark might I add, and heard someone speaking to you.

"Oh my goodness! You scared me to death! Who are you? What are you doing here?" Lily was too scared and didn't know what to do or say.

Jason only chuckled at her frightened state .

"Why are you laughing you weirdo?"

"I'm the weirdo?" Jason was having the time of his life getting on her nerves.

"Yes, sitting in the dark corner like a creep and watching me" She crossed her arm rubbing them in an attempt to get herself warm.

"For your information I was here before you, you're the weirdo who bursted inside like a madwoman, and started talking to herself without checking if there is anyone inside"

He was right and Lily knew that , but she wouldn't admit it.

"You could have told me or made a noise or something when I came inside instead of almost giving me a heart attack"

" With the way I can hear your voice shaking I don't think a heart attack matters now, you'll die from hypothermia if you don't get yourself warm"

"Thank you for your concern sir, but I'll live" Lily said sarcastically.

"Sir , hmm I like the sound of that" Jason teased.

"Shut up" Lily warned, which earned her another chuckle , but it screamed danger.

"Never tell me to shut up again little girl" Jason tone went low.

Lily felt the sudden shift in the atmosphere and decided to stay silent.

A few seconds went by before Lily decided to sit down on the other side of the cabin facing the same window Jason was staring out of.

She flinched as something hit her face and an amazing smell hit her nose.

It was a hoodie.

Jason gave her his black hoodie that he had on and was left with only a black flannel to cover his upper body.

"Put this on before you die here and then I'll have to deal with your dead body"

"Thank you" Lily thanked him and didn't hesitate to take off the shirt that was sticking to her body like a second skin.

It was too dark for him to see anything and that's why she didn't bother to tell him not to look.

Jason didn't even glimpse at her, he might be mean and an asshole , but he's not a pervert. He had a sister of his own that he'd kill for her, Sophia. So just like he wouldn't want any guy to do that to his sister, he wouldn't do it to any other girl.

As soon as she put it on she felt the warmness engulfing her. The shirt was still warm from his body heat and she was thankful for that.

The hoodie was too big for her small frame. She felt like she could drown in it ,but she didn't mind that because this meant she could take her pants off and still the hoodie would reach the middle of her thigh.

Jason had his jacket placed on the floor behind him since he was laying on it a few seconds before Lily disturbed his peace.

He grabbed it and flung it towards Lily, but this time it didn't hit her in the face , instead it landed next to her.

"Put this under you , it'll keep you warm"

Lily smiled to herself " Thank you, but won't you be cold now?"

"I'll be fine" he dismissed .

Lily appreciated his gesture and thanked him again. She sat on the jacket then hugged her knees and laid her head on them . She already felt warm enough for her bones to stop shivering.

"So what are you doing here all by yourself?" Lily asked, trying to get rid of the awkward silence.

"What are YOU doing here?"

"I'll tell you if you tell me"

"I like it here ,I come here often to clear my mind" Jason said nonchalantly.

"Yeah It's nice here with view and everything"

"Wait till you see the view from the roof"

"I would love to" Lily said when she noticed the hint of excitement in his voice.

"Now your turn"

"I- I just got bad news and felt suffocated in my house , I needed some fresh air" Lily answered, her mood dampening as she remembered the earlier events.

"Want to talk about it?" He asked ,shocking himself.

He never cared about anyone but his family and it was weird for him to first give a random girl his clothes and then try to comfort her?

"Not really" Lily replied with a soft sigh .

She didn't want to bother other people with her problems .

Jason respected her wishes and didn't pressure her any further. He knew how it felt when people won't take a hint and push you out of your comfort zone just because they're nosy.

He hated when people did that , in fact he didn't actually tolerate anyone outside of his family.

"Would you like to play twenty questions, we're stuck here until the storm calms down anyway , might as well pass our time with something"

"You basically want me to answer questions about me when I don't even know you" Jason was hesitant, of course he would when his dad is the leader of one of the strongest Italian mafias.

"Well that's exactly why we're playing the game, to get to know each other" she said in a 'duh' tone.

"Fine"

"Okay, I'll go first" Lily excitedly said before adding " Let's start with the basic stuff , what's your favorite color?"

"Black"

"Seriously, why is black every guy's favorite color?"

"Because it's nice"

"Black is not a color it's a shade"

"Whatever the fuck it is ,it's my favorite, smartass"

"Okayyy ... then what color do you like , other than black?"

"I thought the game is that you ask one question then I ask one question"

"Ugh fine, your turn"

"What's your name?".

"Lily"

"Your turn" he simply replied.

"What's your name?" She mimicked him.

"Jason"

"Well ,Jason , your turn"

The game went on and they got to know each other more.

Lily got to know that Jason is only a few months older than her, he's 16. He has seven brothers and one sister and that absolutely shocked Lily.

She felt bad for his sister who had to grow with seven brothers, that must've been a nightmare. Although she'd do anything to have a big brother.

She also managed to know that he lives a couple blocks down her street, but he didn't tell her where exactly he lives or what his family name is.

She has never been to his street before . Little did she know the street was all owned by the kings.

And finally, she managed to get him to tell her what his second favorite color is . It was light ocean blue color.

Ironically that was exactly the color of her eyes...

On the other hand, Jason got to know that Lily is an only child and she'll be turning 16 soon. Her favorite colors were purple and white .

He knew the place he lived in by heart , he's training to join the mafia afterall. So when she told him her name and the street she lives in he guessed that she might be the White's family daughter.

While she thought he was playing her game to have fun he was actually secretly collecting information about her.

Soon enough and after the little chit chat they had Lily drifted into sleep without being aware of it.

Jason looked over at the body that was laying on the floor and sighed. He was planning on going back home , but he can't just leave her here alone.

What should I do with this Lily ? He wondered.
