Jerome frowned.
âMikayla why are you dragging Kylie into this? What does this have to do with her? I investigated because you were eager to find about the truth.â
Mikayla scoffed and remained silent.
He was infuriated. âNever mind your nonsense back then but how could you say that in front of Dad earlier? When did I ever show the intention of marrying Kylie?
Mikayla mused about what happened in her previous life. He actually divorced her to marry Kylie. He even prevented her from leaving the mental hospital, worried that she might jeopardize their wedding.
She knew Jerome had yet to discover his feelings for Kylie because she hadnât been causing much trouble. Clearly, she couldnât tell him this, so she brought up what happened a few days ago.
âWhen you drank the drugged lentil soup Grandma sent last time, didnât you go to Kylie after I rejected you?â
Jerome barked out a sardonic laughter. âMikayla, do you think Iâm an immoral jerk whoâll fuck another woman when Iâm already married?â
Normal men wouldnât, but he never had any feelings for Mikayla. She wasnât certain what heâd do once he was drugged. She hadnât heard from him during those two days, after all. The next thing she knew was the post she saw on Kylieâs social media.
Jerome saw right through her thoughts. Cupping her chin forcefully, he gritted out, âI went to the hospital. Do you need me to show you the medical records?â
Mikayla yanked his hand away. âI donât want to see them. I told you, thatâs none of my concern.â
He was seething. âMikayla, you told Aubrey to cause a scene back then because you thought I was with Kylie during those few days?
âKylie said Mr. White wanted to thank me over a meal, but he left when I arrived. Thatâs why she was the one there! Since you were so bothered by it, to the extent that you were goading Aubrey to cause a scene, why didnât you just ask me instead?â
Mikayla was getting worked up as well. âI didnât instruct Aubrey to do that. She framed me Jerome kept quiet not believing her.
She couldnât help but sneer. âYou donât believe me, do you? You tell me to tell the truth, but you donât trust me when I do. Whatâs the point of all this, then He pressed his lips together and muttered, âIâll look into this.â
âNo need.â Mikayla regained her composure. âIt doesnât matter at this point. Iâve done something similar in the past, after all. Itâs completely understandable for you to doubt me.â
*Jerome, I know youâre reluctant file a divorce. But ask how long is our marriage going to last even donât propose a His expression faltered. âIâve never mentioned wanting divorce you.â
âOf course. You wouldnât have brought it up.â
A mocking sneer spread across Mikaylaâs face âYouâll just put me in a difficult spot with your and toward me until I can no longer bear it. Iâll either cause you a lot of trouble, or Iâll just opt for âNo matter what I do, youâre always right. Donât you think thatâs even worse than bringing up a divorce?
âI told you, Iâll try my best to fulfill your requirements from now Jeromeâs eyes bore into hers. âAnd clearly have feelings for me. We donât have to go as far as getting a divorce.â
Unfazed, Mikayla confessed, âI admit that just get rid of my feelings for you after all these years, but canât endure this any longer with the amount of affection I have for you.
âJerome, tired of this. I really donât want to get involved with you anymore. If you even have a sliver of guilt affection for me please just sign the divorce agreement and get this over with quickly.â
Jerome stared at her before he tossed the ointment for her wrist to her. He rose and left promptly.
A stab of frustration pierced through her as she held onto the ointment. He still hadnât agreed to her terms despite her brusqueness.
