Chapter 254 âWhat are you doing? Are you going to leave me alone?
said Jerome said sarcastically. âWe lack manners, so leaving early to disturb meal.â
âJeroms, youâre quite something.â Zachary scoffed.
He stopped eating. Then he got up and left immediately.
Mikayla felt somewhat embarrassed.
The meal turned out to be a fiasco.
âDonât bother about him,â Jerome said. âAre you still hungry?â
Mikayla shook her . âIâm .
She couldnât imagine how Jerome endured Zacharyâs teaching when he was young.
He wasnât as happy one might think despite being born with a silver spoon.
Fortunately, she wouldnât be a member of the Miller family for much longer. Otherwise, she might not meet Zacharyâs expectations.
The next day, Mikayla and Jerome arrived at Wandaâs house.
Mikayla could feel her head throbbing in pain when she thought about Zacharyâs attitude the night before.
If it werenât for Wanda, Mikayla wouldâve directly told Zachary, âIâd no longer be your daughterâinâlaw soon, please donât try to change me.
âDonât worry. Grandmaâs here. Sheâll support you. Besides, Dad would always be late.â Jerome comforted her as he figured out what Mikayla was thinking.
Mikayla nodded. âDonât you have work? You should get going.â
Just as Jerome was about to leave, Wanda came out. She was delighted to see Mikayla Kay, youâre here! Come over here quickly!â Wanda exclaimed.
Mikayla joyfully ran over to Wanda. âGrandma!â
âYou finally came back,â Wanda said. âI was afraid youâd stand me up again âLast time was my fault. I wonât do it again,â Mikayla apologetically said.
âThatâs more like it. As a punishment, youâll have to stay with me the whole day. Youâre staying for the night too!â Wanda said.
Since Wanda had spoken, Mikayla agreed to it.
Mikayla thought she wouldâve needed to help set up the venue, the housekeeper had everything sorted out.
She just had to spend time with Wanda. Thatâs .
After lunch, Mikayla walked Wanda to her study.
The room had a nice scent of lavender. Soft music was playing in the background as well. Wanda had always liked reading.
Last time, she called Mikayla over and asked her to postpone her divorce in this same room.
In the blink of an eye, over 40 days had , and tomorrow was Wandaâs birthday.
She took out a book, and Mikayla helped her carry it.
Wanda asked, âKay, have you not changed your mind yet?â
Mikayla couldnât remember how many times Wanda had asked her this. Her answer remained firm.
Wanda lightly sighed and didnât say anything else.
Mikayla looked at her and felt guilty.
She held her hand and said, âGrandma, donât worry. If you donât mind, Iâll still be your granddaughter. Iâll come to visit you often â
Wanda patted her hand but kept quiet.
âOh right, Iâve prepared a gift for you. Since youâll be busy tomorrow, Iâll give it to you today,â Mikayla said while handing a delicate bag to Wanda.
âThese are the photos we took at our last gathering. I made them into an album for you. Since you love essential oil, this is a diffuser I bought for you. And these are aromatherapy sticks that I made to help you sleep better. The gifts may not be expensive, but Iâve prepared them all by myself,â Mikayla said.
Wanda accepted the gifts. âThank you, Kay. I love them very much. But what I want most is for you to continue being my granddaughterâinâlaw.â
âGrandma, Iâ¦â Mikaylaâs words were cut off when Jerome walked in.
