Mikayla didnât expect to meet her parentsâinâ
again before the divorce.
âIf youâre too tired, forget it. Iâll tell him youâre resting.â Jerome calmly said.
âIâll get changed and come down later,â Mikayla reluctantly agreed.
Jerome didnât refuse her and went downstairs first.
Mikayla removed her makeup, changed into a decent dress, and went downstairs.
Zachary had already arrived and was sitting at the sofa In the living room.
He seemed to be in his 50s and was wearing a sult.
He looked slightly more robust than Jerome and had a stern expression that made him appear distant, making it difficult for people to approach him.
âYouâre here.â Jerome saw her and got up to greet her.
Meanwhile, Zachary glanced at her.
âHello, Dad.â Mikayla smiled politely and greeted him.
Zachary replied, âHmm.â
He then took his teacup and drank his tea.
Mikayla felt a little awkward.
She could win the hearts of Edward and Wanda easily but she couldnât get close to Zachary. He was too stern.
Jerome tugged her over and sat down on the sofa. He whispered, âDonât be nervous, itâs okay.â
Mikayla didnât push him away. Instead she decided to listen and sat down with him.
âWere you out of town these past two days?â Zachary asked.
Mikayla nodded. âI accompanied Grandpa to visit an old friend.â
You had no idea I was coming back?â Zachary asked again.
âDad, your return is not a big deal/ What does it have to do with Mikayla?â Jerome spoke before Mikayla could.
Zachary glanced at Jerome coldly. âDid I ask you? When did you become so ?â
Jerome remained indifferent/and didnât retort despite being scolded by Zachary, It felt somewhat strange to Mikayla..
She had been married to Jerome for some time.
Chapter 353 Although it was her first formal meeting with Zachary, he had been indifferent to her Why did he suddenly seem to dislike her now?
The Davidson family wasnât as prestigious as the Miller family.
Considering Jeromeâs status, he could find someone better. It was normal for Zachary not to like her.
Mikayis didnât dwell on it any further.
Amy came over and informed them that dinner was ready.
Jerome took Mikaylaâs hand and wanted to to the dining room Mikayla didnât want to be criticized again, so she politely said, âDad, you can go first.â
Zachary kept quiet and went to the dining room.
The meal took place in silence.
Mikayla had already eaten her fill earlier so she just sat there casually and drank some soup.
âHas no one ever taught you table manners?â Zachary asked coldly.
Mikayla was stunned when she realized that Zachary was talking about her.
She had learned dining etiquette before. But since she was at home, she didnât pay much attention to it.
Jerome interjected again, saying, âDad, please be sensible. Weâre just having a meal here as a family. Thereâs no need to talk about manners.â
âNonsense!â Zachary suddenly put down his fork. âJerome, it seemed that youâve had too much freedom. So much so that youâve forgotten your place!â
Mikayla had always heard from Wanda that Zachary had been very strict and harsh on Jerome since he was young. The meeting today proved it.
Jerome wasnât intimidated.
Instead, he said calmly, âAre you here today to have a meal with your son and daughterâinâlaw, or are you here to lecture us? If itâs the latter, we donât need it here.â
âIâm sorry.â Mikayla didnât want them to fight because of her. She apologized and sat up straight.
âDad, weâre done eating. You can take your time enjoying your food,â Jerome said.
He held Mikaylaâs hand and went upstairs.
