Theo was due home today, and I was nervous and excited. The time away had made me realize my life belonged with him and Nathan.

Nathan was staying with Jay so Theo and I could have privacy, and I was thankful Jay’s mother understood that. I wore something he would find sexy, even though I was self-conscious wearing it.

It was a cute silk red teddy with matching underwear, and I was sitting on the couch waiting for him. He had told me his ETA was five minutes.

When he walked through the door, he looked worn out, and I regretted dressing up for him.

“This is surprising,” he said with a grin on his face.

“I am. It’s been a long day, and dealing with Sterling has been mentally challenging,” he replied.

“No worries. I wanted to surprise you.”

“I missed you,” he whispered.

“I missed you too. Sit down and let me help you relax. I’ll do all the work.”

“He needs time.”

“How about we get ready for bed and call it a night? We can talk more tomorrow.”

I woke up to a note sitting on Theo’s pillow that told me not to get out of bed. I could hear him rummaging in the kitchen, so I figured he was making breakfast.

I quickly got out of bed to use the bathroom. I hoped to beat Theo back to the bedroom. There was no way I could hold it until he came back to bed.

I was only in the bathroom for what seemed like five minutes, but when I came out, Theo was sitting on the bed. He had flowers placed in the middle of the bed, with petals scattered on the floor and a breakfast tray sitting on the dresser.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“Come here.”

I walked over to him and sat next to him.

“I love you and I love Nathan. You guys became my family the moment I met you. I can’t imagine a future without you guys,” he said.

Theo picked something up from the bed and got down on one knee, revealing a gorgeous, yet simple, engagement ring.

“I love the way you smile, laugh, and the way you love your brother. I love how you’re independent and stubborn, and I love the life we have. Will you give me the honor of calling you my wife? Will you marry me?”

“Yes. Without a doubt, yes!”

He placed the ring on my finger and kissed me.

“How did you do all this?” I asked.

“I was hoping you were still asleep, and you would wake up to all this.”

“Thank you. I can’t wait to be your wife, but we have one more thing to do this morning. While I was using the bathroom, I took a pregnancy test. I haven’t looked at the results. I wanted to do that with you.”

“Are you ready to look at it now?”

I nodded my head and got up to get the test without looking at it. I covered it with both my hands until I was next to Theo.

“Ready?” I asked.

“More than ready.”

I removed my top hand and flipped the test over, revealing a positive result.

I thought I would panic or be afraid, but the only emotions running through me were love and excitement.

“We’re going to be parents,” Theo whispered.

“We are.” I had a huge smile on my face and kissed Theo.

“I’m going to be a fucking dad,” he said excitedly.

And it was at this moment that I realized I had everything I needed in my life. I now knew I shouldn’t be afraid of love.

I found the man who was meant for me and the life I was meant to live. I still had a lot to improve on, but as long as I had Theo and Nathan as my support, I could do anything.
