Chapter 14: Can’t Write About That

I sat there staring at my computer, trying to figure out how to write about Ophelia’s. If it weren’t for Theo, it would have been a bust.

There wasn’t much to it. The town was charming but way too weird.

I wasn’t even sure how they could advertise being a honeymoon getaway.

“Are you still working?” Theo asked.

“I’m trying to. It’s so hard to write something down about this place. The best experience we had wasn’t even in this town.”

“So that mind-blowing orgasm I gave you in the shower yesterday doesn’t count?”

I could feel my cheeks heat. “I can’t write about that.”

“I’m kidding. I know what you mean. This place so far has been shitty.”

“The town is pleasant, and as long as we got anyone but that one hostess, the staff here was nice, but I didn’t see why they advertised they were a honeymoon getaway.”

“I was just thinking that. Maybe it’s for those who are more local.”

“Maybe.”

“What are you doing this weekend? Are you going back to your sister’s?”

“Nah, I was thinking Chicago. It’s not too far from here, and the city is great to experience for a weekend.”

“I’m sure your sister would enjoy it if you visited again.”

“She has her hands full with Caroline and Noah, and she told me last weekend that she was pregnant again.”

“That’s exciting. What about staying with your brothers?”

“The only one that I would be okay with right now is Winston.”

“Sterling has been a dick, Beau is living the single life and is out all the time, and Wren is—well, Wren and not mature.”

“Sounds like excuses to me. Why don’t you like being home?”

Theo shrugged his shoulders. “I love my siblings, and I enjoy being around them, but sometimes I felt judged.”

“I feel like they think I’m not doing anything with my life.”

“I’m sure that’s not true.”

“I’m not saying it is; I’m saying that’s how it feels.”

I twisted my body toward Theo, cupped his face with my hands, and leaned in for a kiss. “You’re living the way you want to, and that’s what matters.”

He smiled at me. “Can I get another kiss? It’ll make me feel better.”

I gave him one last kiss before I turned the conversation back to our job. “What are we doing today?”

“Well, for sure, the Ferris wheel this evening, but the day is up for grabs.”

“We can find more local attractions. There are some hiking trails around here.”

“Oh, they have a lake, which means they may have water sports,” I shouted out as I went back to my computer and started searching.

“Bingo! They have jet skis and water tubing. Are you up for that?”

“It sounds fun, and I haven’t been on a boat in a while.”

My thoughts and feelings for Theo were changing. I thought he was a dick when we first met, but now I thought he was sweet, and I enjoyed being around him.

I didn’t know where he stood with things. I knew he said he liked me, but was that only for the length of the assignment, or was he going to want more when we were done?

“Did you pack beach clothes?” I asked.

“I always do; what about you?”

“I packed one just in case.”

“Is it a two-piece?”

“You’ll have to wait to find out.” I gave him a wink and jumped off the bed to get ready for the lake.

The lake wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be. There were a few families, but mostly, it was pretty dead.

Theo booked jet skis for us and was so excited to try driving one. “Have you ever driven one?” he asked.

“Nope, but it can’t be that hard.”

Theo spent a few minutes going over how to start and stop it and then gave me a mini lecture about keeping my life jacket on at all times.

I was a little jerky with the jet ski until I got used to starting and stopping, but once I figured that out, it was game over for Theo. I turned sharply to splash water on him.

“You’re in for it now!” he yelled out.

He chased after me as I zipped down the lake on the jet ski. I wasn’t sure how fast we were supposed to go, but there wasn’t anyone else around; we basically had free rein on the lake.

After about two hours out on the lake, we headed in to return the jet skis.

“That was fun.”

“It was a good idea to come here, Nadia.”

“Are you ready to head back to change for dinner?”

Theo nodded as I handed him the key so he could check the jet skis back in.

As soon as we made it back to our room, I flopped onto the couch.

“Your clothes are still wet. Don’t sit on the furniture,” Theo whined.

“Relax, it’s not like you’re sleeping on the couch now.”

“True.”

“You know, this bed and breakfast might be a little disappointing, but you make for good company.”

Theo arched his eyebrow. “Just good?”

“Yup,” I confirmed as I stood up. “I’m going to clean up and get ready for dinner.”

“Nope.” Theo grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to him. “I have to make sure I’m more than good company.”

As soon as he finished his sentence, he crashed his lips into mine.

One thing everyone should have known about Theo was how skilled he was at kissing. He knew how to kiss a girl.

His lips were soft yet dominant and passionate. He nipped at my bottom lip, causing me to gasp, allowing him to take control of my tongue with his.

It wasn’t until I felt my knees hit the bed that I realized he had moved. I was that into this kiss.

“You’re so fucking beautiful, Nadia,” Theo mumbled as he slipped my shirt over my head.

We slowly undressed each other before Theo gently guided me to the bed and climbed on top of me.

We had seen each other naked in the shower yesterday, but this felt more intimate, like we were connecting on a different level.

“I’m ready for you, Theo.”

“Are you sure? You can tell me to stop.”

“I’m sure.”

Theo lowered his head toward me and kissed me gently on the lips before trailing his lips down my body.

This was it; I was giving him my virginity, and a part of me was scared of letting him in like this, but I wanted him to have this part of me.
