Chapter 47: XXXXVII - "Surprise"

Silent But Deadly// COMPLETED✔️Words: 17430

"Kai! C'mon I can't wait all day!" I yell from the bottom of the staircase.

Today, Kai wants to take me somewhere this morning. I don't know where he's taking me though, he said it was supposed to be a surprise even though I could be studying for my tests today. But he told me that I could just make afternoon classes which wasn't actually a bad idea, but it wasn't really a good one either. If I were going to miss my morning classes I would've spent it at the base, or in my home office, or even with Soldier. But no, Kai wants to surprise me. Which could be anything really, he could kill me for all I know and nobody would know.

And as much as I don't want to do this, it could help Kai feel better. Maybe doing something other than paperwork and going to school could be good for Kai, it could make him happy. And my personal mission right now: make Kai happy.

Kai stepped out of the elevator wearing his usual all black outfit topped with his black leather jacket; typical bad boy. Kai and I were like two separate people but we can create the same mischief with each other. Honestly if it weren't that awkward between us you could put us in a room full of pillows but we'd still be pointing our guns at each other.

"You look gorgeous as always princess," Kai beamed as we approached the garage with Soldier by my side. I literally just let Soldier pick my outfit and threw it on, so I expect to look gorgeous if my doggy picked the clothes himself.

The groomer had put this conditioner into Soldier's fur that makes him feel like clouds. His fur doesn't look as bushy as before either but he still looks like a handsome good boy either way, there's no way he could look ugly.

I tossed Kai the keys to the Audi RS6 and let Soldier jump into the backseat and I got into the passengers seat as well. I curled into the seat as Kai drove out to the street and sped down the road like there was no tomorrow.

"Where are we going?" I asked innocently.

"Breakfast Dia," he replied in a very 'duh' tone.

I didn't know what to expect out of Kai when he says we're going out somewhere to eat because the restaurants always end up being five stars and we sit in a secluded area. But it sure as hell wasn't this.

Kai rounded the car and opened the door for me once we had gotten to Einstein Bagels, and also opened the car door for Soldier. He opened the door for us to enter the cafe and the soothing aroma of coffee beans filled the air like rain pouring onto your skin. The cafe was cozy and soft chatter filled the air since it was still early in the morning, and the sounds of blenders rang through my ears and it was insanely comforting. I guess I've been so caught up with work that I almost forgot to relax a little, and this was working well.

Kai had sat me and Soldier down at a small booth as he went to go order my 'Surprise Breakfast.' I looked around the walls at the many large paintings and drawings that shone under the golden lights. I looked out the window and looked at the many cars and buildings that decorated the earth, the vehicles speeding by holding a person with their own story and heading to their own destination. The blue sky held the puffy clouds almost as soft as Soldier's fur and the breeze brushed past the many trees that surrounded the cafe. It was a beautiful scene and I took my phone out to take a picture, maybe add it to my photo wall.

"Here's your surprise breakfast," Kai announced as he set the two trays on the table. I looked at the tray in front of me and I was pleased with what it consisted of.

The plate was truly a surprise and it held many fruits and proteins on it. A large hash brown with an avocado toast added to the deliciousness as well as the bagel. There was an iced caramel macchiato that sat on top of the napkin that had the word 'surprise' written on it.

I smiled at the delicious breakfast and looked up to Kai who was looking quite nervous, "D-Do you like it?" He asked softly.

I giggled at his nervousness and smiled even more, "It's to die for," I said eagerly, putting emphasis on 'die.'

He smiled in relief and passed Soldier a small plastic bowl that held some food in it and Soldier ate it just as greedily as me. I smiled the whole breakfast and danced in my seat after every bite I took.

"You must really like it," Kai chuckled as he sipped on his coffee.

"Of course, you could give me a Snickers and I'd dance around just as happy, maybe even happier," I giggled happily.

I continued to eat my toast as I saw Kai staring at me with awe and watched the cars past the cafe. I had forgotten all about the gang and school and the need to finish everything and instead enjoyed the moment that won't last forever. I was at peace right now, and I was thankful that Kai had brought it to me.

"Well, I hope that what I have planned next will knock the socks off your feet," Kai smiled.

"You're smile makes me happier," I mumbled, but I'm sure Kai had heard it because he froze for a second but I pretended as if I didn't see it. Kai's smile really did make me feel happier inside, seeing anybody happy made me happy inside. But it was different with Kai and I didn't know why, he just made me feel more, warm inside.

"Kai I have a question," I asked innocently.

I heard him gulp and look at me nervously, "Yeah?" He asked unsure.

I sighed dramatically and folded my hands on the table and pretend to be nervous, "Do you think...."

He set down his cutlery and placed his hands on his lap as he stared down at it shamefully. He thought I was going to talk about the incident, well he thought wrong.

"Do you think you can tell me where we're going now?" I asked with a devilish smirk.

He snapped his head up to me in confusion and I burst out in laughter at his reaction. He sat there confused still and I leaned onto Soldier's body to help me calm down.

"That's really what you were going to ask me?" He asked confused.

I giggled at him and played with my straw with my lips, "Yeah," I said softly.

He sighed harshly and ran a hand through his hair, "You, Diamonds, are evil."

I shrugged my shoulders, "Comes with the job," I smirked. He smirked as well and we soon finished up our breakfast and got back into the car.

We drove around for almost ten minutes before Kai parked the car. I looked up from my window and saw that we were in a park.

I looked over to Kai puzzled and he chuckled, "C'mon Dia."

We started walking towards a large side walk and Kai set down a small white bucket. Soldier ran around and chased different animals and rolled around the grass.

"Kai what are we doing?" I asked as he got on his knees.

"We're hanging out," he simply said and he opened the lid to the white box.

Inside were colors of different kinds and I immediately knew what they were once I saw them. My eyes lit up and I gasped at the idea he had come up with and clapped my hands while jumping up and down.

"Oh my gosh my socks are totally knocked off!" I exclaimed excitedly.

He laughed at my enthusiasm, "Here, take one," he said as he pushed the box of chalk towards me.

You would probably think that I overreacted to his gesture but it really is the little things that make a girl happy. It didn't have to be an amusement park or travelling to the library but as long as you're doing it with the right person, it didn't matter. It mattered how that person made you feel and that's exactly how Kai made me feel right now. We were out in a park together drawing on the sidewalk with chalk and we're both almost 18, of course it made me happy.

I smiled like crazy as I started drawing on the sidewalk and heard Soldier barking playfully in the background. It was peaceful to hear the laughter that escaped Kai's mouth whenever we made snarky comments about each other's art work. He looked alive and he truly looked content with our morning and I felt just the same.

I didn't think about everything else going on in my life but I focused on the man that helped me get back to my old self. All before the gangs, all before the fighting, all before burying myself in my hoodies. He brought me back to the past that I was truly happy with and felt unstoppable in the world. I was full of joy and it was all because of him, and I honestly wouldn't want anybody else here with me.

The wind blew my black hair back as I focused on my creation. I bit my lip as I tried being precise and define some parts of the art piece until I felt a finger drag down on my face. I sat there frozen and I slowly turned my head to Kai who was holding back a laugh. And on his finger? Pink chalk.

"You did not," I said in a low tone.

"Oh but I so did," Kai smirked.

I let out a hum and shrugged my shoulders and pretended to continue drawing. Kai eyed me with suspicion and hesitantly went back to his drawing. I scrubbed the blue chalk on the concrete until there was enough powder that I could grab. I then took the powdered chalk and rubbed them against my fingers and slowly turned to Kai who was turned away from me.

I crawled over to him and when he least expected it, trails of blue chalk were more than visible on his soft cheeks and I quickly went back to my original position and pretended to be focussed on my work.

I stiffled back a laugh as he turned around to me and eyed me skeptically. I watched at the corner of my eye as he took a stick of yellow chalk and started making his way towards me. But before he could touch me I backed away and he missed me.

"Diamonds you better get back here," Kai growled.

"You started it!" I laughed.

"And I'll be the one to finish it," and before I knew what he was doing he lunged at me and kept chasing me around with the chalk in his hands. I quickly picked one up as well but he got me before I could move again.

He dragged the chalk against my white T-shirt and a scream mixed with laughter escaped my lips as he held me with one arm and drew on me with the other. I drew on his black shirt as well and soon after, we were both a colorful mess.

"I hate you," I said between laughter.

"Right back at you princess," he laughed as well.

After our fit of laughter we cleaned up our messes and admired our drawings. I had drew a deck of cards while Kai drew a diamond, it was ironic. We both drew something for each other and I admired them both.

I checked the time and I jumped in shock, "Shit, let's go!"

We picked everything up and Soldier was right on our trail as we all hopped into the car and quickly made our way to the school. Kai pulled into his parking spot and I ran up the stairs and down the hallway to my history class.

Just as the bell rang I opened the door to the classroom to see everyone in their seats and Liam in the back. I rushed to the seat next to him and dropped my bag onto the floor just as the teacher started handing out the test papers.

"Where have you been?" Liam whispered.

"Kai," I mouthed back. He must've understood because he didn't question it any further and we started the test.

After the bell rang I walked through the hallways to my chemistry class and I felt someone sling their arm over my shoulder. I looked up to see Blake and his famous smirk plastered on his face like usual.

"You look like you had fun precious," he chuckled. I rolled my eyes at him and we made our way to class to take our tests.

I was on the last page of the test sheet when all of a sudden the door swung open. I didn't look up and instead ignored it and continued with my test. I heard footsteps go around the room until they were next to me but I was so engrossed in my test I didn't notice until they had cleared their throat. I arched a perfectly arched eyebrow up to the person who decided to distract me only to see Kai with a buoquet of peony flowers.

He scratched the back of his neck and held the flowers out to me, "I bought these for you," he said quietly.

I felt the many eyes on us as I smiled and took them gratefully. I sniffed them and they smelled perfectly fresh and I fell in love with them. I stood up from my chair and gave him a hug, he stiffened at first but soon wrapped his arms over my shoulders and played with my hair. He then pulled away and looked down at my face and wiped away some chalk with a handkerchief he had in his pocket. I smiled up at him adoringly until he quietly walked out of the classroom.

I ignored the prying eyes once again and finished the last few questions of the test and turned it into the teacher. The bell had rung soon after and I walked through the halls with the large bouquet of peonies in my hands while Soldier stayed close beside me as we walked through the hallways.

I walked into my last class for the day to already see Kai sitting at the desk next to mine, playing with a small teddy bear that had balloons tied to it's arm. He looked deep in thought and I slowly made my way towards the desk next to him. He had finally noticed me when I sat down and he smiled brightly at me.

"I also got these too," he said handing me the bear and balloons gingerly.

I giggled at his small gestures and took both of them gratefully and gave him a silent nod in return. During psychology we had only listened to a lecture but I'm sure Kai wasn't paying attention to it. I felt his eyes on me the entire time but I chose not to bother it because I needed to take mental notes of the class and he would distract me.

Soldier just slept peacefully beside me and rolled over on the tiled floor.

"Where are you going for free period?" Kai asked curiously as we walked to my locker. I mouthed 'home' to him and was suddenly pushed up against my locker.

"Look what we have here. Balloons, flowers," her eyes landed on the teddy bear and she faked a pout, "and Mr. Teddy."

"Back off Rachel," Kai roared.

She scoffed in his face, "Now you wouldn't hit a girl, would you Kai?" She asked innocently.

He smirked devilishly and straightened his posture, "Nope," he said popping the 'p.'

"Exactly Kai so move," she said brushing past him.

My fists automatically balled into a fist and I gave her a glare so deadly she'd be six feet under right now, but she covered her fear with fake confidence.

"Look at what the cat dragged in," she spat. Many students then gathered around the scene but were more back away than usual. Kai smirked in the back and I knew what he was trying to tell me.

Just then, Rachel pushed me back up against the lockers and slapped me across the face, but this time, my head didn't jerk to the side. She looked at me in shock as I smirked as well and I saw goosebumps form on her bare arms.

"Hey what's going on he-" Principal Wilson shoved past the kids and his hard expression quickly softened once he saw me against the lockers.

"Principal Wilson, it's not what it looks like. She hit me!" Rachel screeched. I looked at her with an 'are you serious' look and she smirked evilly. This bitch thinks she got her fucking way.

Principal Wilson backed away from the crowd and turned down the hallway back to his office. Rachel scoffed and turned back towards me, "You're such a little whore!" She shrieked.

At this point frustration flowed through my blood and this bitch was really on my last nerve. Do I have to kill her just for her to stop being so goddamn petty? You know what, that doesn't actually sound like a bad idea.

"Rachel, I wouldn't hit a girl," Kai smirked even wider, "Because Diamonds is going to kill you."

Her eyes widened with fear as I tackled her to the floor and straddled her body. I threw punch after punch at her botoxxed face as she tried scratching my arms and pulling my hair. I then grew tired of punching her so I got up, pulled into her bleached hair, and slammed her head against the lockers, hard.

I was about to have another go at her again before I felt the three pairs of arms wrap around my body and I squirmed in their embraces. I kicked my feet in the air and actually kicked her in the stomach and she clutched onto it as she gasped for air.

"Everybody scram!" Liam yelled. Everybody was gone within seconds and ran in fear to their classrooms.

I felt myself being pulled into an empty classroom and sat onto one of the desks. I sat criss crossed and crossed my arms and pouted as they brought Rachel's body in and laid her on top of the long desk.

"Diamonds what the fuck were you thinking?" Liam growled. I rolled my eyes and picked up my gang phone as they examined her unconscious body.

"Boss?" Richard answered.

"Wilson High, classroom 379, be here with the van, that's an order," I ordered then hung up.

"Diamonds we can't bring her to your base-"

"No, we're bringing her to the hospital, I didn't kill her, did I?" I ask sarcastically.

All three sighed and Kai sat next to me, "I'm proud of you," he whispered.

I chuckled and sat back onto the desk.

About ten minutes later Richard walks into the classroom and his eyes immediately land on Rachel, "Who's this?" He asked in disgust.

"A prick," I said as I jumped off the desk. "Bring her to our hospital and tell the nurse my name and they'll immediately know where to put her. They'll contact her father and then you go to my house straight after, got it?" I asked with an eyebrow arched.

"Of course boss," he smiled and walked towards me and lifted me off the floor in a bone crushing hug before carrying Rachel out the door.

"Our hospital?" Blake questioned.

I shrugged my shoulders, "We own a lot of businesses," I said nonchalantly.

We walked out towards the hallway again and I picked up the gifts Kai had given me earlier and we walked outside towards the car.
