Chapter 31: XXXI - "New York"

Silent But Deadly// COMPLETED✔️Words: 12282

It's been a couple of days since Liam and Blake have been discharged from the hospital, and the Gang Ball is only two days away, so we've decided to pack and get to New York early so we could have a little extra fun.

Joe and Richard are going to fly to New York in the private jet that I just found out we owned. But they'll be arriving by tomorrow night, so I'll probably be on the phone with them a lot until we can actually meet. Business, as always, is improving. They've even told me the new base would surprisingly be finished in about 2-3 weeks so that's my motivation right now to keep moving. We've been gathering new recruits as well, some even from the highschool which I felt uneasy about. I mean, maybe when I finally tell Kai that I'm the Shattered Jewels' leader, I can make my identity known. But I'm still kind of weary about it since other gangs might try and come after me when I'm alone, and I don't really like having body guards around me that much. Only Soldier.

So for now I think that I'll keep my identity a secret, but I'll have to tell Kai eventually. Hopefully he won't freak out and declare war on me or something. We've moved up on the ranks pretty quickly, making us the third strongest gang in the world. The second being the Royal Aces.

I looked around my room to check if everything had been arranged and packed. I only brought one suitcase since we'll be there for a couple of days and a duffel bag that holds some weapons along with some files that I actually might look over while I'm there. The restaurants have been doing good since it's almost Christmas as well as the hotels.

I had asked Joe and Richard where they were staying and I found out that my brother actually had bought a penthouse in New York. So I gave them permission to stay there instead of staying in a lousy hotel room. Apparently my brother had bought some fancy piece of shelter everywhere he travelled just in case he returned, and it could really come in handy sometime.

"Diamonds, ready to go?" I heard Blake call from down the hallway.

"Yep, on my way down now!" I yelled back.

I grabbed the suitcase and duffel bag, as well as my go-to bag, but it only held my electronic devices in them. I was not going to bring any trace of evidence that could prove I'm Silver with me on this trip.

I stumbled down the stairs with my suitcase in hand while Soldier held my duffel bag in his mouth. I still swear he's not a dog but it's okay, he's a good listener and quite intimidating to others as well. Which makes us the perfect pair.

"Took you long enough," Liam grumbled as he walked over to grab my bags for me.

"What can I say? Beauty takes time," I say doing silly poses.

"We can't wait 500 years for you to get ready Diamonds," Liam deadpanned.

I scoffed and playfully hit his shoulder while he laughed.

"C'mon, the jet isn't gonna wait all day," Kai said. I jumped into his arms and he carried me out to the driveway.

Kai carried me out to a dark SUV and he opened the back door and set me inside. Soldier hopped in after me and jumped on to the leather seat and placed his head on my lap. They all got in after me and the driver started the engine and moved out of the premises.

"Is my poor baby tired?" I cooed at Soldier.

"Yes," Blake groaned. I giggled as Kai smacked his chest and he winced playfully.

"But I am pretty tired, I think a kiss would wake me up," Kai suggested playfully.

"Great, Blake do your best," I joked. Blake and Kai looked at each other disgustingly and shook their heads.

My IPhone's default ring filled the air and I pulled out my everyday phone to see a text from Liam. I sneaked a look of confusion to him but he just gave me a look that told me to look at the message.

Liam💩:

What the hell was in your bag?

I looked at the text confusedly and replied.

Me:

And what do you mean by that dear step brother?

Liam💩:

I mean the files Diamonds, did you steal them from Kai?

My body stiffened at the text and my eyes went wide, but thankfully my hair covered my face so they couldn't see my expression.

I debated on whether or not of telling Liam the truth, but I also couldn't let him think that I was stealing from Kai.

Me:

What the hell are you talking about?

Liam💩:

Cut the bullshit Diamonds. There were prostitution papers in there, are you trying to sabotage our gang?

Me:

No! Of course not! Look, I'll explain everything when we're alone. It's a lot to take in so brace yourself.

I shut off my phone and saw Liam eyeing me suspiciously mixed with disappointment. I shook my head at his assumption and ran my hand through Soldier's fur for comfort. Trying to find out how I can explain everything to Liam.

Twenty minutes later the car stops and I look outside to see a white private jet with a deck of cards on the side. I woke Soldier up and we both got out of the car quickly.

While the men loaded the jet with our bags, I kept my head down to avoid Liam's heated gaze. He's been avoiding eye contact with me the whole ride and I don't blame him, he thinks that I'm trying to ruin them.

I stepped into the jet and sat down in a seat near the back, while the boys sat somewhere in the front. It was a luxurious private jet and it was very clean as well, it looked way too perfect and I thought I even drooled a little.

The plane started to take off and Soldier laid down on the floor beneath me. I was watching the clouds from underneath until I felt someone tap my shoulder. I looked up to Liam who had a blank expression on his face and he tilted his head towards the back room.

We walked in and he locked the door behind us, "Explain." he demanded.

"You're gonna be pissed," I mumbled as I sat down on the bed behind me.

"I'm already pissed at the thought of you fucking up our business so what's your fucking excuse Diamonds?" he whispered harshly.

"Shattered Jewels," I answered quickly. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and slowly looked up to Liam's confused expression.

"What?" He asked in frustration, "Are you working for them? Are you betraying us-"

"I'm leading them," I cut him off. He stood there silently for a few seconds but I just stared at my lap.

"You tried stealing our shipments," he whispered.

"No, that was when my brother was running the gang. I started leading after we kidnapped Jack," I explained quickly. "Look, I'll explain everything you have to promise to not freak out-"

"I'm already freaking out Diamonds!" he exclaimed quietly.

"Ok, ok I know. But just sit down," I said patting the spot next to me.

I then explained to him about how Jack had told me about the base and I was scared to tell Kai because he might jump head first into the waters. I told him how I snuck out and checked it out for myself and started faking a cry just so I could get in without any suspicion. I explained how Joe had led me up to his office to help me out and how he had told me about my brother wanting to lead the gang with me but we killed him before that could happen. I mentioned how I had changed the purpose of the gang around and now we play fairly with the other gangs. I rambled on about how business was improving and making more than we had before until he sat there frozen in his spot.

"Please say something," I pleaded.

He looked at me blankly before he muttered the words out, "Diamonds, how in the fuck did you do all of that in just a week?" He asked quietly.

"What do you mean? I just did some basic shit and rolled with it-"

"No, I mean it took Kai months, maybe even a year to figure out how to run the gang. How did you manage to get everything under control and rise it's profits in just one week?" He asked in disbelief.

I sighed, "I don't know," I admitted.

He nodded his head, "Does Kai know?"

I shook my head frantically, "Fuck no, I'm planning on telling him before the ball though, so please don't say anything," I begged.

He ran a hand through his hair and dragged his hand down his face, "It all makes sense now."

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"When we were trying to steal your shipments the other night, sorry about that by the way, you guys didn't kill us," he explained, "anybody would've just killed Kai on the spot but you let him go. Now I know why," he said looking at me.

"I mean, of course. I'm not going to kill you guys, enemies or not. I can promise you that," I said grabbing his hands.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me in for a hug. After a few seconds he spoke up, "But I would definitely like to see your new base."

I giggled and pulled away, "Of course, eventually," I said getting up.

We both left the room and I sat back down in my chair while Liam went to go sit with Kai and Blake. After awhile I felt someone's presence next to me and I turned my head to see Kai sitting in the chair next to me.

"What'd you guys talk about?" He asked curiously.

"Dude, we just talked about our parents," Liam yelled over to us. I quickly averted my gaze back outside and stared in wonder at the clouds beneath us. I felt Kai's hand creep onto my thigh and softly grab my hand. He intertwined our fingers together and we stayed like that until we landed in New York.

We all hopped off of the plane and into the shiny black limo that had tinted windows. We slid in and once again, Soldier laid his head on my lap and I ran my fingers through his fur. Kai sat on the other side of me while Blake and Liam sat across from us.

Kai wrapped his arm around me and gave me a kiss on my forehead and I looked up at him in admiration. I gave him a quick kiss on the lips and snuggled into his embrace. I looked up at Liam and he gave me a 'look' that I just rolled my eyes at. I was going to tell Kai eventually, just not now.

The car stopped in the city and we all looked up to see a grand hotel that looked too expensive for my liking. We got out and the guys went inside the hotel to check in while I waited for Soldier to do his business.

We walked in to see Blake waiting for us and he looked up to see us approaching, "They're already on their way up, let's go," he explained as he slung his arm over my shoulder.

We went up to the fifteenth floor and walked down a wide hallway that held only a few doors. He handed me a key card and walked into his room and I walked down the hallway to room 1579.

Soldier and I walked into the beautiful hotel room that overlooked the noisy city. Fruit sat on the glass table in front of me and a door was on my far right, probably the bedroom door. The sitting room had couches that looked more for display than for sitting, but I didn't mind it.

I walked into the bedroom with Soldier and he walked over to lay down next to the bed. That dog is really exhausted huh?

Kai walked out of the bathroom in a towel and drops of water fell from his hair. His beautifully carved abs we're on full display and I couldn't move my gaze away from them. His biceps were nicely toned and his back muscles almost made me fall to my knees.

He started rummaging through his suitcase until he finally turned to me, "Like the view princess?" he teased.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I've seen more attractive things," I said nonchalantly as I sat down on the mattress.

"Oh yeah? Like what?" He said smirking.

"Me," I stated matter of factly. His head shot up and he smirked even more.

I burst into a fit of giggles and said in between my laughter, "I'm kidding!"

He rolled his eyes and mumbled, "I agree though."

I pushed away his comment and took some clothes from my suitcase as well. I walked into the bathroom and took a much needed shower and tried clearing my thoughts of the gang at all. Right now, and possibly tomorrow, no gang shit.

I walked out of the shower and slipped on my white pajama shorts and tank top. I walked out to see Kai rubbing Soldier's belly and my heart melted at the sight.

I cleared my throat and Kai's head quickly snapped towards me, "Oh hey, sorry." He said moving away from him.

"No it's alright, by all means, go ahead," I said flopping down on the bed.

Kai started crawling on top of me, blocking my vision of the TV. I was going to complain until he laid his head onto my stomach and wrapped his hands around me. He sighed in content and started falling asleep on top of me. I played with his hair until I started growing tired myself.

"Good night Kai Finnels," I whispered into the air.
