Chapter 22: XXII - "Angel"

Kai

She looked so torn, so heartbroken with her tears flowing out of her eyes. It was my first time seeing her cry and I hoped that it'd be the last, I'd never want to see her go through that again. She's like an angel who's wings were taken away from her, so now she roams the earth and does good deeds just to gain her wings back.

She's so kind and soft hearted, but I can tell her mind has more control over her heart. I mean, she decides not to talk to anybody as much as her heart wants her to fight back with words, but her mind knows better so she ignores her heart. She never fights with emotion but instead with skill, or else she might end up killing her opponent. She relies on her mind to get everything done with, or she believes that her heart would hold her back from moving forward.

She's so beautiful, so gorgeous, I've seen the way other guys have looked at her in the hallways and it just makes me pissed. She's my princess and no one else's, but I have to figure out if she knows that at all. I want to get closer to her, spend more time with her and get to know her better. She's not an open book and her walls have been tearing down crumb by crumb to us and it's okay, she needs time to open up and that's exactly what we'll give her. She's one of us now and I hope she understands that because I don't know how else to show her that she is. I mean we let her into our small friend group and we never let anyone in, we tell her about our gang and trust her with our gang business, I let her stay in my house and let her keep the dog she bought without my say, I mean what else do I have to do to show her she's one of us?

"You guys ready to go?" Speaking of the devil, she hops down the stairs with a small smile on her lips as she grabs a Gatorade from the refrigerator in black adidas leggings and a grey Adidas sports bra with her hair tied up in a ponytail.

"Yep," We all reply as we snatch our keys from the countertop. We wait as Diamonds latches the leash onto Soldier's collar and place the handles of her small duffel bag in his mouth. She starts walking towards us but our eyes are on the dog that's holding her bag with his mouth.

"What?" She asked looking between our confused expressions.

"What the fuck," Liam breathes as he walks out the door and towards Mercy. Soldier hops into her car and let's the duffel bag drop on the floor beneath him as she rounds the red Ferrari. We all look between each other again in confusion and shock before we shrug our shoulders and start driving towards the underground fight club.

She really loves that dog, I wonder if she could love someone just as much as she loves that dog, oh how that person would be the luckiest in the world. Wait, no. Not 'person' because Diamonds doesn't need to love another person when she can love me. It may sound cocky and a little overprotective but this is how much affect she has on me, and it's absolute torture. She cares so much and deserves the world, maybe even the whole Galaxy. It's amazing how this girl can have so much power over me, it's almost unfair because I don't even have that much power over myself. Man, this girl is more than an angel, she is heaven.

I park near Blake and Liam, who was also followed by Diamonds. She rushes ahead inside with her duffel bag in one hand and Soldier's leash in the other, seeing as though her fight starts in fifteen minutes. Liam, Blake, and I make our way in and start climbing the metal stairs onto the balcony that overlooks the arena. We sit in our usual spot and gratefully take the champagne glasses that waiters were handing out on trays, and watch the people who crowd around the arena.

After at least two fights, I watch Diamonds walk out from a hallway with Soldier's leash in hand and a guard walking beside her. She stops along a wall and starts giving instructions to Soldier as if he actually understood what she was saying. She then handed the leash to the guard who gave her a curt nod before she walked up to the arena as the announcer called her opponent.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to you, our undefeated champion of our state, BUNKER!" The announcer yelled through the microphone and the crowd went wild as Bunker's buff body stepped into the ring, encouraging the crowd to yell even louder.

"Do you mind if we join you gentlemen?" I heard a familiar voice say beside me. I turned my neck to see none other than Ogus Pelina, followed by his second and third in command, Jake Blackwell and Austin Wassels. I sipped on my champagne as I eyed them skeptically before nodding my head.

"Kai Finnel, it is truly nice to see you again," Ogus said as he sat next to me.

"And now, the fighter you've all been waiting for, the undefeated, nation wide, element of the periodical table and of surprise," the announcer started which made the crowd laugh at his tease, "GOLD!" The crowd went chaotic at her name as she stepped on to the ring and looked as calm as ever, but I already knew she was observing her opponent.

"Ah, isn't that your little fighter from before?" Ogus asked as he leaned over in his seat to get a better look at her.

"What could you possibly want Ogus," Blake spat which earned him a glare from Jake, who was sitting next to him.

"Well, a little birdy told me that one of my gang members were captured by your gang, now is that true?" He raised an eyebrow while watching Gold fight off her opponent and sipping on his champagne.

"Well your little birdy is right, except he was trying to take something from us in the first place. Tell me Ogus, do you know anything about his actions?" I asked as I watched him carefully but he turned to me in confusion.

"What?" He breathed out.

"So you really don't know anything about it, do you?" I ridiculed.

"What the hell are you talking about Finnel?" The calmness in his voice was drained out now and instead replaced with his regular stern Russian accent.

I laughed at his change of demeanor and sipped on my champagne glass as I watched Gold beat down Bunker to a pulp, "We'll meet for dinner tomorrow night and we'll discuss this matter then, good?" I asked without taking my eyes off of her.

"Good," he got up as the bell rang with Austin and Jake right on his tail. I downed the last of my champagne and got up as well as I unbuttoned my dress coat. I walked down the metal stairs and out the doors to wait at my car for Diamonds.

"Do you think Diamonds will talk to them tomorrow night?" Blake asked.

"If they deserve her respect, then yeah. But I don't expect her to break so easily, she might need a lot of convincing to waste her breath like that," Liam answered.

I didn't even think of that, of Diamonds talking to the Royal Aces after they had tried negotiating with her. They had upset her about that and she didn't even face them when they were talking to her, so what more of her talking to them?

After a few minutes of waiting in the comforting silence, we heard a door open and shut and Soldier was once again, carrying her duffel bag with his mouth while Diamonds held a briefcase in the hand that didn't hold his leash. She replaced her leggings and sports bra with a black Nike windbreaker and some joggers. Her hair was damp and left to air dry as she let Soldier into the car and got in herself.

"That dog still seizes to amaze me," Liam said as he shook his head and got into is car.

"I like that dog," Blake said as he too got into his car.

I thought for a second after watching their cars take off into the distance, "Can't believe a dog is smarter than most people," I mumbled into the air and started my car as well and raced off into the direction of the house.

"So what time are we going to dinner tomorrow?" Blake asked as I entered the living room. They were all sprawled about the leather couch with Soldier's head on Diamond's lap as she ran her fingers through his fur. I started loosening my ties like Blake and Liam had done and plummeted onto the sofa underneath me.

"Seven, and dress appropriately," I said in a sigh.

"What does that mean? Heels or no heels?" Diamonds asked in a slightly panicked tone beside me.

"Heels," I stated. She let out a sigh of relief and laid her head on my shoulder and mumbled a small, "I'm glad he didn't say 'you choose',"

I chuckled lowly and turned the TV on and switched through different channels until it landed on Family Guy. We all laughed at the show until I looked over to see Diamonds cuddling with Soldier. I admired seeing her in this much peace and she looked, as always, beautiful.

I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and adoringly watched her stomach rise up and down with every breath she took. I tapped onto Liam's shoulder and tilted my head towards the sleeping pair that were cuddled up on the couch. He nodded his head in understanding and tapped Blake's shoulder and whispered something in his ear. I watched as he too nodded his head and we all slowly got up in unison.

Liam started softly petting Soldier until he slowly started waking up. He lifted his head up and Liam started pulling him up from the couch and walking him up the stairs. I was surprised that he didn't bite back but I guess he's just gotten used to us now, at least that's what I'm hoping.

I then turned to Diamonds and picked her up as well, one hand under her knees and another behind her back. She cuddled into my embrace and sighed in satisfaction as she continued to relax into my arms. Blake had stayed back to clean up any messes we had made before he too went to bed.

I pushed open Diamond's bedroom door to see Liam standing by Soldier so he didn't bark of thinking I was an intruder that killed his owner. I gently placed her under her covers and tucked her into bed before I gave her a kiss on her forehead. I looked up at her room and saw the fairy lights on as they hung around the walls and illuminated a royal purple. Her furniture was well placed and her different books filed perfectly on her book shelf, still waiting to be fully filled up. The window seat had throw pillows in colors I couldn't make out since it was dark, her soft rug sat underneath her coffee table that was surrounded by four large bean bags.

I let a smirk play across my face at her little decorations and looked over to Liam who too had been examining the room since we first walked in, "How much skill do you think she has?" He asked as he looked back down at his step sister.

"Enough skill to probably make us wet our pants," I admitted. We both shook our head and chuckled while walking out of the room to separate bedrooms. Liam sometimes stays here during weekends at then at his dad's for the weekdays, but it doesn't matter he has two houses to choose from now and he's always welcome to move into my house. Blake as well, I mean we are practically family so there's no big deal into them moving in.

I stripped myself of my suit and threw it into the hamper, leaving me in my boxers. I decided to just go to sleep without pants since I was already exhausted and slid under my covers. I fell asleep almost immediately and dreamed about travelling the world, with Diamonds right by my side.
