**********
We drove in maddening silence. Time went by in a slug like pace, we've been driving for approximately 2 and a half hours and my derrière was beginning to burn from sitting in one place for so long. I didn't even make an effort to memorise the streets we've taken, they had made so many turns that I have lost count.
I glared holes in his head for the millionth time since driving, and if I was given the chance to have any super power at the moment, it would be to have laser beam eyes. Understanding that glaring alone wouldn't even faze him I let my eyes wander about his features. A strong jawline chiseled from granite, perfectly arched eyebrows aligned with a straight and narrow nose. How could God make someone so perfect but so...raw.
The thought of the witch infiltrated my mind and I peered my eyes away from him to stare out the heavily tinted windows. Was this what she meant by my life being in for a 'bumpy ride?' I mean, in less than a week I was almost raped, killed and now I'm being kidnapped. Oh wait, I'm not being kidnapped. Besides, how could he kidnap his 'own property'. Her wicked grin painted a very evil image in my mind and I had to take a deep breath before my heart picked up speed, there is no way I want to have another encounter with her, but apart of me felt like that was inevitable. She scared the living daylights out of me.
Why did I have to see her in those woods?
And why did I even go running my big mouth?
And why do I feel like her meeting me wasn't coincidental.
The trees of the forest were like a never ending parade of soldiers that barricaded the creatures it held within as they blurred pass us. My eyes began to feel droopy so I let my head rest against the window and fell asleep.
I was jolted a wake by the car stopping suddenly while my body was flung out of the seat by the force, the smell of burning tyres crawled it's way in my nostrils as my face slammed against the driver seat of the car. I was about to curse when I saw both the driver and Ares training their eyes at something up ahead. Peaking from behind I followed their gaze and my breath hitched at what I saw.
More than 50 monstrous werewolves littered the road in front of us blocking us from proceeding further. Their growls wrecked havoc in my ears while their wild eyes cause my soul to take flight from my body and go into hiding. It was still daylight but the canopy only let in a few streaks of the sun rays. Everything was dense and humid, if it wasn't for the car lights I would have never seen them.
The temperature in the car dropped to a negative zero, I could even see the air I exahaled vaporizing. A deep growl vibrated within the car turning my attention away from what was up ahead focusing at what was here close to me. I didn't miss the murderous zeal his eyes held as his body shook with fury.
"Rogues" he cursed and when I thought he was just gonna sit there, he opened the door of the car and calmly walked out while undoing his jacket.
I watched as he dominantly stalked to the vicious group of wolves that gnashed their teeth at him the closer he got to them. Now it was my turn to ask if he had a death wish. He stopped when he was just a few feet away from them and I could tell everybody including me held their breaths. A white wolf that sat in the middle of the pack, pranced up to him menacingly, and then bones shifted, broke and repositioned themselves in the form of a man.
They were having a conversation I could tell, and even if I strained my ears I wouldn't be able to hear anything. The werewolf that was driving had long exited the car followed by seven others who were travelling with us,I watched as they stand by in an attacking stance behind their leader.
Why do I feel as if something horrible is going to happen.
Everything went on a standstill and the last thing I heard where the shattering of glass windows then everything erupted in chaos. The war had begun!. Bloodcurlding howls reverberated in the distance as the putrid smell of rust and iron reaked and tainted the air. I had long gone into hiding behind the driver seat too afraid to see monstrosity that was unfolding. I didn't even know who was wining and my doubts were with Ares. Could his men fight against so many wolves?
Curiosity got the best of me and I found myself taking in the gruesome fight that I was soon starting to regret I saw.More than 20 wolves were lying in a pool of blood, while Ares along with his men ripped and disembodied the wolves they were still fighting with their bare hands. But my eyes were trained in him alone, Ares. The way his callous hands took on three wolves at a time, then tearing their spines from their bodies as if it was nothing made me retched at the sight. He wasn't even in his wolf form and he was this powerful, so just imagine the savagery that he could do if he were. His features were murderous and sinister, and when he dug his hand in one of the wolves chest and plucked out his heart bile rose to my throat from the lurid details of the crime. How could someone be so evil. I know I should feel safe but the way he was going on was sickening.
Vainly I was brought out of my abhorrent thoughts when the door of the range rover was ripped off and slimy hands gripped my ankle and roughly dragged me from the car. My head hit against the hard asphalt but not too painfully to knock me out. As I trailed my eyes from my capture's hand to his face I gasped when it wasnt one of Ares men. I screamed out but he just slapped me senseless. The others were too caught up in their fighting that they didn't even see me being pulled in the forest by one of the rogues. My back burned from the fine pebbles digging into my skin. I fought against his grimy hands but he just clamped down harder, digging his claws into my skin.
My hands were flailing and grabbing onto any and everything, so when I felt something hard and rough I grab a hold of it and swung it with unimaginable strength. It did the job and I was quick in escaping when he screamed in agony. However it was not enough to put him down and when I looked up at his face I began to regret my actions.
Swiftly he toppled me over and his claws slashed against my stomach in an open wound. I released a gut wrenching scream from his assault and when he went to slash my neck he was flung from ontop of me. Thankfully the person who saved me came just the right time, in the dark I fought to see who it was but I had to look about myself when the pain of my opened skin became unbearable. I felt my eyes closing while my blood was gushing out.
A thick pair of arms began to scoop me up from the ground, and I felt sort of nostalgic when the familiar sparks dance it's way over my body. However that was short lived when a stinging pain shot up in my stomach and I cried out.
"It hurts!" I screamed.
"Shhh, I know, don't speak" he said in the most gentle voice he's capable of. If I was in a better state of mind I would of been dumbstruck, but for now I couldn't dwell on that.
After a while he just stood there unmoving with his chest heaving up and down in what I'm assuming is anger. I felt safe in his arms but his arms weren't safe and I almost felt sorry for the wolves who's breath was stolen by his hands.
"Why...why did you have to bring me here?" I choked out. I looked ahead in in the darkness, and when didn't respond I crane my neck to stare at him. There was a bright angry glow in his eyes when he stared down at me, but for some reason I knew that, that anger wasn't directed towards me. When he didn't make an effort to say anything I continued.
"Why me...wh-what do you...do you want from me?" I squabbled while angrily gripping onto his once perfectly white shirt.
His jaw clenched then he let out a huff and began to walk away with me in his arms. I began to get even more angry when he wasn't saying anything, and ignoring me.
"Answer me!" I screamed, but it was weak.
"I swear to all living creatures in this forest, if you don't shut your mouth this instant I'm going to leave you here for the trolls to feast on your corpse" he threatened and I was left speechless.
"Better that than being around you" I countered just above a whisper and when his body went tense I knew he had heard me, but he continued to walk nonetheless.
There was an eerie quiet as we walked, I was too tired to say anything, but I don't know if he was tired or just didn't want to say anything and I didn't give a rats ass.
