"All of your test came back Negative Ms. Brown!" Jessica let out a breath as she held the phone to her ear, "thank you so much!" She responded back with a smile as they ended the call. She got tested for everything under the sun seeing as how she wasn't sure if they used protection or not.

Alexis sat across from her with a smile, "see trippin' over nothing." Jessica picked around her food, "you never know now and days." Alexis nodded agreeing with that statement. "How are you and D?" She questioned as she took a bite of her food.

Jess smiled, "good, really good." Her smile dropped. "But I still feel bad about having sex with someone else."

Alexis rolled her eyes, "girl y'all were broken up! It's not like you cheated and for all you know he could've had sex with somebody else too." She had a point. "You're right."

"Besides, it's been weeks at this point. I need you to get over it." Jessica sighed, "I know, anyways. How are you Xavier?" She smiled automatically causing Alexis too as she picked up her drink taking a sip from it.

It'd been a month since she met him and they talked everyday. "I'm ready for the off season so I can see him more. But we're pretty good, but you know I'm still doing me. He's a professional football player so I don't want to put too much pass him."

That was something Jessica could understand. "Didn't you just fly out last week to see him?" Alexis nodded, "yeah when he had a game in New York. He flies me out to see him, but it's not like he's in that city for long. So I'm ready for him to be settled."

Jessica nodded her head, "I get it. Be able to spend more time."

"Exactly. But off that. What you got planned for the day?" Jessica took a bite of her food before responding. "D's getting Briana and wants us all to go to movies and dinner and whatnot. So that. I haven't saw her in a while but I know he's been getting her so I asked about it and he planned this day."

"Why haven't you been seeing her?" Alexis asked with her eyebrows knitted. "He used to always have that crumb snatcher around."

Jessica laughed, "Lex that's mean." She laughed as well, "I'm just saying, Miss chatty box was always there."

"I know, that's what I said. But he said he was just giving us our time to get back after the break up." Alexis rolled her eyes, "bitch y'all were broken up for a week, get the fuck out of here." Jessica shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. I'm not trippin' though. What you got planned?"

"Going to the bar with this guy I met last week." Jess lifted one of her eyebrows. "Do tell." Alexis waved her hand, "nothing special, met him at Pulse. He's a cutie though. Young though, only twenty-one. But old enough to drink and that's the important thing." Jessica laughed, "I feel it. You don't ever get nervous that someone who rocks with Xavier will see you out with any of these dudes?"

Alexis looked down at her finger, "am I married? Did I miss something." Jessica rolled her eyes while Alexis laughed, "we haven't made anything official. Plus he's from San Diego. We're in San Francisco, an eight hour drive okay? I doubt it's anyone here who knows him like that outside of watching him on the big screen." She knocked on the wood table after making the statement causing Jessica to laugh.

"Okay. Just making sure. You've never talked about a guy to me for so long, so I'm just happy for you. Sounding like a potential boyfriend." Alexis got wide eyed. "Whoa, slow your roll. We don't do that over here."

Alexis' phone went off as Xavier's name popped up, a smile automatically came to her face. She liked him and she couldn't flex like she didn't. "I'll be back," she smiled as she left the table to take the call.

"Baby girl," X let out as she answered the phone. "What's up?" She questioned as she stood outside the restaurant people watching.

"What you got planned in like two weeks?" She shrugged her shoulders as if he could see her. "Nothing planned, what's up?" Alexis did a lot of here and there modeling so she basically made her schedule.

"We'll be back in San Diego for the next two games and my boy Mateo birthday coming up and I need a date so you should come into town and stay with me for a couple days. I'll fly you out." She smiled. "I'd like that."

"Alright, I'll text you so we can get everything situated. I'll call you later baby." She said her goodbyes before walking back in the restaurant. "Damn, can't even talk in front of me." Jessica let out as she finished up her food.

Alexis was always private with her conversation, especially with guys. "It's not even like that. But I'll be in San Diego for a little. They have two home games coming up in a few weeks, so that'll keep him settled for a short period of time." She purposely didn't mention Mateo's birthday.

Jessica smiled, "we were just talking about that! That's great." Alexis nodded, "I know."

And she was excited, very excited.

"Did you like the movie?" Jessica asked Briana, Dwayne's daughter. She nodded with a big smile. "You hungry?" He asked.

"Yesss!" She yelled out. "I want chicken nuggets." Jessica shook her head, this little girl always wanted chicken nuggets. Dwayne looked at Jessica, "you want something quick or to sit down?" They had got started on their outing later than planned due to Dwayne and Brielle getting into it, though her daughter had been around Jessica plenty of times she wasn't feeling it at this point in time so when he told Jessica that Brielle had been trippin' she didn't understand why. But of course he knew why but he wasn't going to tell her why; he was skeptical himself about the outing because Briana could talk too much sometimes and the last thing he needed was her bringing up how much mommy and daddy had been together. However it was so far so good, but they had only been to the movies. Dwayne was hoping Jessica would say something quick so too much conversation couldn't be made with her and Briana.

Jessica thought about it for a second, it was getting late and she didn't have a taste for anything specific. "We can get something quick." A part of Dwayne celebrated on the inside, he'd be able to get the food and take Briana home since she wasn't staying with him. After dropping Briana off he headed to drop Jessica off making light conversation on the way.

"You're schedule changes tomorrow right?" He questioned as they drove to her house. Jessica nodded as she scrolled through social media on her phone. "Jess!" She looked over at him, "I said yeah." He smacked his teeth, "I ain't hear nothing. For how long?"

She shrugged her shoulders, "a couple of months, if that. Not too long." He nodded his head, "but instead of working Monday through Friday it changes right?" She cleared her throat as she locked her phone. "Yeah, I'll be three days on four off, so that'll be nice."

Dwayne licked his lips as a small smile appeared, "yeah I like that." Jessica rolled her eyes already knowing what he had in mind. "You don't work until seven tomorrow night right?" She turned to look at him completely, "yes Dwayne." He chuckled, "so what you trying to do tonight?" He looked at her for a second with lust filled eyes before focusing back on the road. She unlocked her phone again going to her period app, she knew it was coming soon and she wasn't in the mood for bloody sex. Three days late, a look of surprise crossed her face but she wasn't going to stress it. That meant she should be coming on by the morning at least. "My period will be here at any moment now."

"Then shit, let me knock that thang on." Jessica laughed as she rolled her eyes. But that's exactly what she intended on letting him do seeing as how she was running this late, bloody sex it would have to be.

The next morning Jessica checked her period calendar once more after Dwayne left, four days late. She was never more than three days late, she kept up with her period so she was sure of this. Her and Dwayne went rough the night before and there was still no sight of blood. Something was off. The worst came to mind as she opened up her bathroom cabinet to pull out the emergency pregnancy test she always kept around, but never had to use. She made sure it wasn't expired before using it.

She peed on it and waited the couple of minutes it said to and panicked when she saw a plus sign. There was no way. Dwayne had been pulling out and would it even show pregnant this soon? It'd been only a couple weeks since they got back to having sex.

Then she thought of the night she tried to forget. Her one night stand with Mateo. "No." She said to herself. "There's no way." She slowly slid down her bathroom wall as tears welled up. She ran her hands through her hair as the tears just fell. A slow cry turning into an ugly one.

She couldn't even kill a fly so she knew she wouldn't have the balls to abort this child, but she didn't even know this child's father. They had no type of relationship and she hadn't talk to him since the night it happened. How would she tell Dwayne? She cried harder at the thought of it.

After crying for what felt like forever she got up, she needed to make sure she was pregnant. This test could be wrong right? She looked at the time seeing it was two in the afternoon. She was a surgical technician and she had a twelve hour shift that night opposed to her usual eight hour because they were on a shift rotation. She could always get a test done at work but she didn't want the questions or congratulations. She called her gynecologist trying to make an appointment for today. She wanted to know today.

Luckily they were able to accommodate her and get her an appointment at four. Which gave her enough time seeing as how she didn't have to work until seven. She got herself together as she calmed down getting ready for her day, four couldn't come quick enough.

-

"Well Ms. Brown, you are indeed pregnant." Jessica sat there silent for a moment as she tried to process it all. She was for sure pregnant. "Thank you." Jessica let out as her GYN smiled, a smile of sympathy because she could tell when Jessica came in she didn't seen too excited about it. "You have plenty of options, do you want to go over them?"

Jessica shook her head no already knowing them. "I just need to go for right now, can I call to make the next appointment?" She didn't feel like making it right now but she knew she was keeping it. The doctor nodded "Of course and if you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to call, okay?" Jessica nodded as the doctor smiled before walking out. She had to talk to Alexis, but she would hold off until after her shift.

Her shift flew by, there weren't too many surgeries that happened that night or morning. She was just ready to get to her bed. After working eight hour shifts for the past couple of months her body wasn't prepared for that twelve hour. She parked her car quickly getting out and heading inside to shower and crawl in her bed. She thought she was going to drift off to sleep but her phone started going off as Alexis' name popped up. She checked the time and it was 8:07am,  Alexis never called that early, she was far from an early bird so something had to be up. Jessica quickly answered, "you okay?"

Alexis smacked her teeth, "yeah, are you home? Wait are you about to head to work?" Alexis was in her car leaving Jerome's house, the young boy she had met. And she just had to tell Jessica about her night.

"Yeah, my schedule changed. I got off at 7am."

"Oh that's right, sorry!" Jessica leaned up in her bed. "It's fine, what's up?"

"I just wanted to tell you what happened with this young boy. You mind if I just stop by or I can just come by later. I thought you were up for work."

Jessica sighed, "you can come by now." She needed to tell her about this pregnancy anyways. "Okay, I'll be there shortly." With that they hung up.

Jessica got out of her bed and threw on some shorts, she often slept in just her panties. In no time Alexis was knocking at her door.

"Girlllll!" Alexis stretched out as she fell out on Jessica's couch. Jessica got wide eyed as she got comfortable on her couch. "What's up?"

"So you know me and youngin' went and got drinks the night before well we went again last night right?" Jessica nodded for her to continue. "So I got a little too litty and we ended back up at his house, it was a closer drive. So we was just talking and shit, like he cool as hell. Good conversation and all that. Like I'm thinking I can add him to my roster." She paused for a second. "But?" Jessica asked.

"No but yet, however we start kissing or whatever, you know the mood getting real right. But I ain't tryna fuck this dude. So I pull back like let's just chill. So he puts on Netflix, and girl you know that was a bad idea because everybody knows Netflix and Chill can lead to exactly what I was trying to avoid, anyways we end up having sex and I fall asleep over there. Why the fuck was we at his mama's the whole time. She came in this morning yelling his name and opening his door asking who the fuck I was."

Jessica busted out laughing, "you're lying." Alexis shook her head. "I wish I was, like I blocked his number as soon as I stepped foot out of there. Like she lives in an apartment so I really was believing he just had another roommate and we went straight to his room so I ain't see all the pictures and whatnot hanging up the night before making it a dead giveaway." She rolled her eyes in annoyance. "I'm so mad."

Jessica laughed again, "yeah, he could have told you he stayed with his mom, or at least had you leave before she got there." Jessica shook her head, "but I have something to tell you." Her smile dropping. Alexis got more comfortable as she sat her clutch on the table. "I'm listening."

Jessica sighed loudly as she looked down at her hands, "I'm pregnant." Alexis wasn't sure she heard her right, "say what now?" This time Jessica looked up at her. "I'm pregnant, and I'm pretty sure it's Mateo's."
