âWe should help each other out.â Shu Yan smiled politely and didnât take her seriously. She didnât know the first thing about Hu Ruixueâs family, but she trusted that they were powerful. Any help from them would be more valuable than her hard work for years and perhaps even dozens of years.
Some people were just born with more than others. Shu Yan had already come to terms with that. Whether it was before or after her transmigration, she was destined to be someone whoâd have to be self-reliant.
The two chatted for a long time, and Hu Ruixue discovered that Shu Yan really didnât feel like a village woman who had never been to school. She felt very moved. If only Shu Yan was born into a family like her own, sheâd for sure be able to accomplish much more.
Had Shu Yan knew that was what was going through Hu Ruixueâs mind, sheâd tell her that she had overanalyzed it all. She was but a foreigner to this time period, possessing a cheat that allowed her to know the general trend of things in the next 20-30 years.
They had such a good time chatting with each other that they even went and had lunch together. When they left, Hu Ruixue gave Shu Yan her phone number.
âI am not much, but my brother and father have some pull in City Nan. If you run into any trouble, do give me a call.â
âOkay, thank you.â
Hu Ruixue dropped Shu Yan off at her shop. When Shu Yan was getting out of the car, Hu Ruixue suddenly asked, âCan we have lunch again some time?â
Shu Yan paused for a little, then smiled. âOf course.â
âBoss lady.â Zhang Huaxiu and Yingying were having lunch and did not see Hu Ruixueâs car.
âHow come you are having lunch so late?â Shu Yan glanced over quickly. Zhang Huaxiu still has her one meat dish and one vegetable dish. Yingyingâs lunch has improved some. Finally, there was some meat. Shu Yan did not want to pry too much into her employeeâs personal life. She opened up the drawer and checked out the amount from that morning.
Theyâve sold $600 worth of merchandise in the morning. They were averaging 1,500 yuan over the last few days. Thatâd put them at 45,000 yuan a month. Subtracting rent, utilities, cost, and salaries, her net profit would be 20,000 thousand yuan give or take. Not shabby at all.
âBoss Lady, are you going merchandising tomorrow?â asked Yingying with some hesitation after lunch.
âWe still have a bit of inventory left. I will give them a call tomorrow to place an order and wonât be going to merchandising. Whatâs up?â Shu Yan had already taken a look. They were only short on a couple of styles, so she decided to take a break and not go this weekend.
âNot much. Something is going on at my house tomorrow, and I would like to take the day off.â Yingying kept her head lowered. She started a month after Zhang Huaxiu and now she was asking for time off before Zhang Huaxiu. She worried that would leave Shu Yan with a bad impression. This job was cozy with great pay. She couldnât afford to lose it.
âSure. You two have two days off a month anyway. You just need to let me know ahead of time. You can write out a request and Iâll sign it off. I will just come in myself tomorrow.â She had planned to go and take a look at the new house tomorrow and maybe go and buy some appliances. But that could wait now that Yingying wanted to take a day off.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Shu Yan took a look at Zhang Huaxiu. âDo you want to take a day off too? You have never taken a day off since the day youâve started. Itâs been almost a month. Donât just work all the time. Sometimes youâll need to take a break as well.â
âItâs alright. I donât have anything else going on anyway. We are not having promotions these last few days and it wasnât too busy at work. Iâm not tired and thereâs nothing for me to do at home.â Zhang Huaxiu couldnât bring herself to take a break. The boss lady had said that if she didnât take a day off, she would get 30 yuan extra in pay. Thatâs 15 yuan a day.
Everybody was different. Some people rather make less and take some time off and others didnât mind working more for more money.
