Long chapter aheadâ¨
___________
Viren Khanna
Today finally is the day where I'll get married to the love of my life. Still, I couldn't gather that I'm gonna get married. How my life changed after her arrival in my life. From being rude and arrogant, in Pari's language 'Hoity-Toity' she changed me into a romantic, drama queen person. I'm grateful for her, for being in my life.
All the moments I've spent with her were running in my memory like a tape. I was smiling thinking about her when someone deliberately cleared their throat. I looked up to see Daksh and Preeti grinning at me.
"I see, someone is lost in my Bhabhi's thought!", Preeti said to me whilst raising her eyebrows at me. I just shook my head smiling.
"What? You're not thinking about my Bhabhi? How bad Vee", Daksh started his drama. Even my sister fake gasped on hearing this.
What will I do without my drama queens.
I smiled at my thought. And another one was being added to the list. My Pari. My Happy pill. My thoughts were disturbed when the two idiots of mine kept shaking me. "Yes tell me! What am I supposed to do?", I questioned them, getting comfortable on my bed.
"I'm so happy for you Bhai. You've got the best girl as your wife. I never ever thought that you could love someone like this. You've totally changed bhai. And it's a good change. Always be like this Bhai. And yes Mom and Dad would've been so happy to see you getting married. So be happy with Bhabhi.", said Preeti with tears flowing from her eyes.
Cupping her face, I kissed her forehead. "Yes, they would've been so happy. And I miss them, Pree.", I told her. She hugged me and cried. Daksh joined the hug.
"Okay, now enough of the emotional drama. Vee do you remember the first time we met Bhabhi and that day dadu was shouting an-- ", I cut off Daksh and spoke.
"I remember everything about that day. How you guys embarrassed me.", I snapped at him, whilst he gulped.
"Vee, we both were shouting that she'll be our Bhabhi and now see, she's becoming my bhabhi for real", Daksh told us gleefully. Whilst I just nodded my head with a smile on my lips.
We continued taking for hours when Dadu called us downstairs to have something. I looked around to see my family running here and there. My dadu and dadi childishly arguing with each other. Radhika Aunt and Aadhav uncle busy checking the decors. Devesh uncle and his wife busy checking the gifts and all my relatives running around the house.
How great it would've been if mom and dad were here.
But like my Pari said they're always with us. In our hearts forever. I tried calling Pari but it was my naughty and crazy sisters-in-law who attended the phone.
"Jijaji (brother-in-law) if you don't want your bride to arrive late for the wedding then don't call her". It was Nila who spoke. I also heard some muffled sounds in the background.
"Okay, my sister-in-law. I won't call my bride till she arrives at the venue, but what the noise in the background?", I asked her.
"It's your girl only Jijaji. She wanted to attend the call, but I attended it. So she was cursing me, that how she'll take revenge during my wedding. Others have closed her mouth so that you couldn't hear her colorful phrases", saying this she hung the call.
Did she just hang the call on me?
I turned to see Daksh munching popcorn sitting in my bed. "Did your girlfriend just hung up on me?", I asked him shocked.
"Bro when she's excited she does that. When she can hang upon her boyfriend, you're just her brother-in-law. So it doesn't matter much", he replied shrugging his shoulders.
"You guys are weird", I murmured. "We know", Daksh yelled. Around four in the evening, I went to get ready. Showering in a warm bath, I get myself dressed in ivory color sherwani suits which have leave motifs on them. My sherwani's shawl was in pastel pink color with works on the borderline.

With Daksh behind me, I reached downstairs. This dress was designed by my bride. She kept everything in her mind and designed just the way I wanted. And I can't wait to see my bride in the dress I designed.
My grandparents' eyes misted looking at me. The moment I neared them, they engulfed me in a hug and kissed my forehead.
"You're looking just like your dad Vee", said the both. Taking their hands in mine I kissed their hands. Then my cute little sister reached me dressed in pastel green lehenga. Then everyone took me to the temple in our home and the priest did the rituals of Sehrabandi. Then my dadu wraps the pink-colored turban around my head. Then sehra is worn around it.
Now along with my family members, I leave for the venue. All my family members are dancing crazily in front of me, whilst I'm riding a horse. I didn't want to ride a horse, but my stubborn family and a pouting face of Pari melted me to do.
My cousin's son was sitting with me on the horse. I laughed looking at everyone's dance. Then we reached the venue. Must say it was the venue was looking like a castle. The decors were amazing. The entrance was holding fairy lanterns and pathways made of rose petals. My mother-in-law or should I say mom did my aarti. Then I was led to the makeshift stage. Damn the stage was wonderful.
With four pillars as support, the top was in a circular shape with flowers hanging out of it. The moment I reached the stage my eyes started looking for my bride. Sharav elbowed me on the stomach and smiled teasingly. And I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What Jijaji? Don't glare at me else my sister will kill you", he said and I scoffed at him. I was about to answer when he left the stage. Even Daksh was searching for Nila. Suddenly the sound in the background changed hinting me that it was time for my bride to arrive.
The moment my eyes met hers, my breath hitched. There she was coming towards me, with her brothers carrying the phoolan-ki-chaddar above her, whilst Nila was walking beside her. She was looking truly like a goddess in the dress I designed, pastel pink colored lehenga.
And I'm proud to say that she's my bride.

With every step she was taking I felt myself tearing up. It still feels a dream for me. My childhood crush. My first love. My girlfriend is going to be my wife, my soulmate, my other half but last but not the least the mother of my future kids. I felt two teardrops coming out of my eyes.
She blushed looking at me with a smile on her face. And I can also bet on my fortunes that her eyes have glistened. Meaning even she was thinking the same. When I wiped the tears everyone noticed that I was crying and they all made 'awe' sounds. Hearing this she blushed even more.
Then she was made to stand near me. "You look beautiful my love", I whispered to her. She looked at me and winked. Let me tell you, I had a mini attack at that moment. Everyone gathered around and the guests made themselves comfortable in the chairs.
We both were asked to exchange the garlands by the priest. The first turn was hers. Getting the garland from Tara, she tried to put it on me. But I tiptoed. Since my girl was on a shorter side, even she tiptoed but failed. Suddenly her brothers, Sharav and Sahil lifted her up, but at the same time, Daksh and my cousins lifted me up. Then I saw her whispering something to her brothers. Seeing this my cousins landed me down.
God let me tell you the smirk the three siblings were giving me, were currently giving me bad vibes. Out of nowhere the two brothers of her came near me and kissed my cheeks. I was shocked whilst everyone burst into laughter.
What the fuck?
"If you don't allow our sister to put the garland around your neck, it will be us who'll put the garland. So choose wisely", saying this both the boys backed off and winked at me. Daksh was standing near me with his mouth hung open.
I instantly neared Pari taking her hands in mine, I made her were the garland. The whole hall was now laughing at my expense. Whilst my bride flashed a cheeky grin at me. I lowered myself to her and whispered, "Bad move dear, let me torture you in a sweet way tonight".
Her eyes went wide, while I smirked at her. Then after the joyous dinner, we were made to sit on the small plank of wood and I helped Pari to sit comfortably. The priest started reciting the hymns and we both prayed for each other's being.
Navjot dad and Deeksha mom handed Pari's hand to me during Kanyadhaan, where the bride is given off to the groom. All of us had tears in our eyes. Even her two brothers joined the ceremony of kanyadhaan.
We were asked to stand for the phere. The end of my shawl was tied to the end of Pari's lehenga. The first three rounds are taken by us with Pari in the lead, with our family members reading each one vow. The last four rounds are taken by us with me in the lead. But for the last round, I lift Pari in my arms.
Everyone is shocked by my behavior and questions me. "I want everything to be equal between us. So for the last round by taking her in my arms, it will be both us rounding at the same time", I replied proudly, whilst Pari looked at me with a teary smile. After the completion of the phere the priest declare us as husband and wife.
I bend towards her ears and whispered, "Hello Mrs. Akruti Viren Khanna".
___________
Akruti Viren Khanna
"Hello, Mrs.Akruti Viren Khanna".
My breath hitched on hearing my new name.
Yes! Now I'm Akruti Viren Khanna, not Akruti Arora. Hearing this my eyes filled with tears. He made stand in such a way that, we both were facing each other. He rubbed the tears using his thumb pad and kissed my forehead. Everyone in the back hooted.
Harleen dadi twisted one of his ears. "Ouch! Dadi leave me. It's paining.", he jumped in his place. Wiping my tears away, I laughed looking at them. And now I'm also a part of them. Someone wrapped their hands around my shoulder from back and has rested their chin on my shoulder. I turned to see Nila smiling at them.
"I'm happy for you Akru. I'll miss our late nights' hangouts and midnight chats", she whispered looking at me. Making her stand properly I hugged her and my brothers hugged completed the hug. We all broke the hug when we heard dadi questioning my Hoity-Toity husband.
"Why did you kiss her? And that too in public!". Removing dadi's hand from his ear, he replied while rubbing the spot dadi had pinched him.
"You guys are over-reacting. I just kissed her on the forehead and not on lips. Even if I did, there's nothing wrong because she's my lawfully wedded wife"., He said. But his next set of words caught me off guard.
"Wait. I'll kiss her on the lips. Let me see what you guys will do". Saying this he grabbed me by the waist and kissed me. And the whole crowd gasped. It was a kiss that represented promise and love. He let go of me only when I was out of breath. All of them started beating him, but he had a wise grip on my waist tho.
Then we were asked to sit on the plank again. This time the priest handed him the mangalsutra. Looking at me with a small smile, he tied it around my neck, when again tears made the way through my eyes. The priest then handed him the vermilion. Taking a pinch of it, he placed it on my hairline and a good amount of sindoor fell on my nose, which is considered a good sign.
Now I'm completely a married woman. I'm Mrs. Akruti Viren Khanna.
Looking at me intently with his eyes full of love, he whispered, "I wow you Mrs.Khanna". Smiling, I whispered back,
"I love you too Mr.Khanna".
