"Akruti...Akruti...Akruti"
I kept on calling her. Thank God I caught her else she would have really broken her bones. I carried her in my arms and headed towards my cabin. I even saw the horror-struck gazes on me. Of course, they'll be shocked. It's not an everyday scene that their rude and arrogant boss cares for someone. On the way to my cabin, I saw Nila coming in my direction with a worried face.
"Sir, what happened to her?", Nila questioned me.
"I don't know Nila, after completing the meeting we were heading out when she suddenly started swaying, and then the next minute she blacked out", I replied to her whilst entering my cabin, with Akruti in my arms. I laid down unconscious Akruti on the couch in my cabin, whilst Nila tried waking her up.
I immediately fished out my mobile from my pocket and called my family doctor. When I informed him about the situation, he told me, he'll arrive in 10 minutes, since his hospital was near my office.
I headed out of my cabin to see the employees trying to peep inside my cabin. "If you want to get fired then you're most welcome to have a look inside my cabin. " I yelled at them, and the next second they disappeared.
I was walking back and forth before my cabin. I'm totally worried seeing Akruti lying unconscious in my cabin. I couldn't help but think about how this girl is affecting me. But in a good way tho. Maybe she's the one for me.
'Bro it's so early to decide this', my subconscious replied. I was about to reply when I saw my family doctor, Dr. Devesh Malhotra walking towards my cabin. On seeing me, the frown in his face immediately changed into a smiling one. I hugged him when he reached me.
"How are you, Uncle?" , I questioned him.
"Fit and fine. What about you?", he responded to me.
"I'm fine Uncle"
"So where's the patient? So that I can start my treatment!!", he asked me, whilst I opened the door of my cabin for him to enter. When I entered I saw Nila was still trying to wake her up while rubbing her tears away.
"Good evening dear". Uncle greeted Nila. She too greeted him with a small smile on her face. I looked at Akruti, her face was pale, devoid of any emotions.
'Of course, her face will be devoid of any emotions, 'cause she's unconscious. Duh.', my subconscious popped up again. I chose to remain silent 'cause I know it's true. Her face was so peaceful, she didn't apply any makeup like others, and her lips were just like a rose petal. I wonder how soft it'll be when I kiss them.
'Bro, for your kind information, the girl has passed out, so stop with your wild imaginations. One side her best friend is crying buckets of water, while you have wild thoughts. Such a pervert you are. ', my subconscious again spoke. And I remained shut. I saw Uncle checking her pulse, her heartbeat, and her eyes.
"Mmm...dear did she have anything in the morning?" , I heard uncle asking Nila.
"Yes doctor, she had. She even complained to me that she was having a headache.", Nila replied back.
'From the morning she's having a headache?'.
"Did she tell you how bad her headache was?"
"Well, she told me, that her head was nearly blasting. Morning she had an Advil, and during lunch she had coffee to reduce her headache. But she just ignored it saying she might be PMSing, 'cause sometimes headaches too were her symptoms it seems", Nila replied back.
"Well I know while you're PMSing you'll have headaches, but to this level?", I said to no one in particular.
"Well my boy, it depends upon a girl's body. It may act differently to different person", Uncle replied to my question, whilst I just nodded my head.
"Does she have any medical history?", the uncle asked her.
Then Nila said everything about her. From the accident to coma. And about her nightmares to which Akruti's family told Nila, while Akruti still didn't tell her personally. Oh my god. This girl had gone through this much?. The sight of her in the hospital bed passed chills down my spine. Then I saw uncle scribbling something in his note pad and gave it to Nila.
"Just her pressure has increased, I gave her sedatives. She might be unconscious for some time. If she again feels that her head is blasting, make sure she gets a doctor's appointment". Nila and I nodded our heads. I thanked him for his time, while he just brushed it off.
I was escorting him till the elevator when he was about to enter, he asked me something which I'm still trying to figure out myself.
"Veer? I think you like the girl, the one who's unconscious right?", whilst I just stared at him, not knowing what to answer.
"You surely do. I figured it the moment I heard your voice on the call. I thought it to be Daksh or Uncle, not a girl for sure. I even saw the look in your face, which was holding so much tension and worries in them. If you like her to make a move man. Don't hold it back. Because we all want your happiness including your parents.", saying this he entered the elevator and left.
Devesh Uncle and my father were best friends from childhood. They were inseparable like Daksh and me. But unfortunately, the death separated them. He was devastated when he got the news that my parents were dead. He was like a brother to my mother and father. He was one of them, who helped us regain our lives back when we were left with nothing. He's like a father figure to me.
Shaking my head to remove the thoughts about my parents, I reached my cabin. I saw Nila sitting on the couch with Akruti's head on her lap. She was looking so tired. So I thought of giving her a break.
"Ms.Nila I think you need some break. Go refresh yourself. Till then I'll be here to take care of her". She hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded her head in agreement. She left my cabin and I sat down on my chair continue to do my work, whilst keeping an eye on Akruti.
She was beautiful. She had the perfect eyebrows and eyelashes. Her cheeks were slightly chubby. And her sinful lips. A knock on my door interrupted my thoughts. After hearing my response I saw the person, it was Nila.
"Ms. Nila you can stay here, while I'll make my self comfortable in Daksh's cabin," I said.
"Er...sir actually I have a meeting with the Administration department heads. Actually, it was a sudden one and Mr.Kashyap told me to attend it on behalf of Mr.Chopra since he handles these meetings. Can you stay here and take care of her, till I return?", she asked me.
"Yeah, sure I'll. You please carry on your work", I replied. She thanked me and left. Removing my Blazer, I rolled my sleeve till my elbow and continued to do my work.
Suddenly I heard someone whispering. I turned my head to look around for the source when my eyes finally landed on Ms.Arora. I went near her and sat on my knees. She was sweating profusely and kept on shaking. She even kept on saying "No....No....leave them...leave them...no..no".
I called out her name and kept on shaking her so that she can come back to consciousness.
"Akruti...Akruti..listen to my voice and take deep breaths....in and out..."I kept on repeating the same words and made her sit in the sitting position.
I got up and sat near her whilst calling her out. Finally, she calmed down, but she continued crying. She opened her russet brown eyes, and immediately hugged me.
' I have seen these eyes somewhere before'. I thought. But then my heart started beating erratically.
'Whoa....calmed down my heart..calm down, I don't want her to know how fast you're running just 'cause of her hug.', I told myself. She suited perfectly in my arms.
"You wanna talk about it?", I asked her. She shook her head in denial. I just patted her head in a soothing manner. I felt her relax in my arms. Then I felt her breathing normally. I looked down at her and saw that she has slept again. She has tightly wrapped her arms around my torso, making it impossible for me to move.
I tried getting up, and immediately a frown formed on her forehead. I continued patting her head, and a smile made a way to her face. I felt happy that she was finally sleeping without any panic attacks. And yes I was sitting in the same position. I heard my subconscious say,
'I know that you're enjoying this. And the way she perfectly fits in your arms'
I looked down at her and smiled to myself. Before sleep made it's way to me, I heard myself say,
"That I'm."
