“So you want to end your marriage wit Lina in other to pursue what you are building with that human” one of the elders asked during the general meeting.

“I thought we came here to talk about the well being of the pack? for few weeks now. there has not been any attack on the pack members, I thought everyone would be concerned how to make sure that continues not how I should get back to Lina because I don’t think I want to continue my marriage with an abuser” I said and Jayden stood rooted on the spot without saying anything.

He is my best friend and even if he is the beta of the park and he is concerned about. the well being of the pack, it does not change the fact that he would support me through thick and thing.

“Calling Lina an abuser does not change the fact that we heard rumour of you dating. miss Anderson, what if that’s what triggered her into abusing Derrick” one of them asked and I stared at them as if they had lost it.

“Are you f ucking serious right now!! does that justify the fact that she could have killed. my son” I fired angrily.

“Lina and I have been married for five good years, for her to have habored deep hatred. for Emerald and used it against our son irrespective of the fact I am her husband, just shows me the kind of mindset she has and with that type of mindset Lina can kill an entire community” I bursted angrily.

“So now what are your plans?” one of them asked and I stared at them suspiciously, for some reason I did not feel the urge to tell them anything.

“For now I think we should talk about the well being of the pack” I said and I could see. the look of disappointment on their faces.

After the meeting with the pack Elders, I decided to check on Derrick..

“Hey champ” I said immediately I got into his room.

“Good evening Daddy” he said as I gestured towards his bed.

“What are you up to?” I asked and he chuckled.

“Nothing much, just trying to round up with my home work. Heard you were having a meeting with the pack Elders?” he asked curiously.

“Yup, and it is not something kids should be interested in” I said calmly.

“Why?” he asked with eyebrows raised.

“Because it is the pack personal affairs champ” I said and he frowned.

“Well that’s serious” he said as he pouted cutely.

“Why are adults complicated?” he asked and I fought the urge to laugh.

“You are too young to understand kiddo” I said and he stopped what he was doing.

“But am five years old already” he said frowning.

“Get to twenty first” I said and he took a deep breath in and out.

“Daddy” he called.

“Yes champ” I answered immediately.

“Do you like Rachel ?” he asked and I fought the smile on my face.

“Yeah, I like Rachel” I said and he smirked.

“But you are married to Mrs Lina, is that even right?” he asked and I took a deep breath in and out.

This is exactly what you get when you give birth to a son that is too smart for his age.

“That is why I said it is complicated son” I said and he gave a nod.

“I like miss Rachel though, sometimes I wonder what it would have been if I still had my biological mummy with me” he said.

I have been thinking about Emerald a lot these days and hearing him say this brought back the thoughts I have been trying to bury for years.

“I’m sure she is happy wherever she is champ” I said and he sighed softly.

“She should have been here daddy, I wonder who she is and what she looks like” he said and I didn’t know what to say to that.

I spent some time with him and even fed him his dinner before leaving for my room. The next morning, I got dressed and left for the office with Jayden’s company.

“Good morning sir, someone is here to see you” my secretary said immediately I worked into my office.

“Who is it?” I asked while typing on my laptop.

“Your wife sir” she said and I stopped what I was doing on my laptop and sighed.

“What did she say she wants ?” I asked and she stared at me with her eyes wide opened looking so shocked at my statement.

I’m sure she’s wondering why I am asking her what my wife wants, when I should be asking my wife that question in person.

“Let her in” I said and leaned on the chair.

Immediately she left Lina walked into my office clad in a black dress and sandals, she looked kinda sick and tired, seeing her like that got me worried even after what she did.

“What do you want Lina?” I asked and she stared at me calmly.

“We were married for five years infact we are still married Xavier, you should at least offer me a seat” she said as she looked at me obviously disappointed.

“We are married for five years before you constantly abused my son in my absence. Lina, that is not something I want to be reminded of” I said and she sat down calmly.

“The news everywhere that I abused your son Xavier, brands no longer wanna work with me my life is ruined” she said and I stared at her calmly.

“So?” I asked and she sighed.

“Baby I’m sorry, I have said it before and will keep saying it until you give me another chance to prove to you how sorry I am… she trailed slowly.

“I don’t think any amount of apology would make me reconsider the decisions I have made Lina, I don’t want to remain in this thing we call a marriage. It’s not working for the both of us” I said and she cried.

“Is it because of Rachel ? that woman is not worth it XAVIER ! she ruined my life and has always hated me from the beginning isn’t that suspicious to you” she bursted angrily.

“I will be sending you the divorce papers soon, make sure they are signed and sent to my office as soon as possible. As you can see, I was busy before you came into my office” I said and she stood up.

“Mark my words Xavier, you will come back to me. You came back when things hit the rock between you and Emerald, I am not scared of the nonsense you have going on with Rachel Anderson” she said and made her way out of my office while I watched in disbelief.

“You haven’t answered my questions Emerald, with the look of things you’ll be sleeping with Xavier before you even realize it” she said and I chuckled.

“Penny that is not going to happen” I said and blushed. At this point I don’t even trust my b*dy reactions in his presence not after what happened the other night.

“You miss him” she said teasingly.

“Who’s side are you on? you better face the reality because sooner or later we’ll have to put our major plans in action this is not the time matchmaking and unnecessary shipping” I said as I stood up from the bed.

“Oh, is it safe to ship you with Mr Fernandez ?” she asked teasingly.

“Whatever you which sweetheart, I need to get ready for the charity event I will be attending with Xavier tonight” I said and she wiggled her eyebrows teasingly.

“This is getting really exciting” she said teasingly.

“Wake up from that slumber best friend” I said and she stood

up.

“I should help you get ready for tonight then” she said and I smiled.

She spent about two hours getting me ready for the event, I stared at the red designer. dress and Penny whistled.

“Wowww the lady in red, you are definitely stealing the spotlight tonight” she said and I rolled my eyes to her..

We heard the horn of a car as our eyes moved over to the clock.

There he was leaning on his car clad in black Armani suit and shiny Italian black shoes to match, the guy is f uckin obsess with black. His hair was jelled backwards adding to his serious yet breathtaking look.

“Your reaction said that before you even opened your mouth, you don’t look bad either I said as he opened the car door like a gentleman.”

“People should not hear you calling me cute babe, not with my reputation” he said and I chuckled.

We got to the event after a long drive and Xavier had his hand at my back as we walked into the larder hall. The whole place was filled with business men and women chatting among themselves while soft music is been played in the background.

I began to feel the eyes of many people on my b*dy as they talked among themselves, women stared at me with envy and jealousy and men couldn’t take their eyes off me.

“I’m beginning to think it was a bad idea bringing you here” Xavier whispered softly. into my ears.

“Men can’t take their eyes off you and it is making me possessive of you” he said and I burst out laughing as I tried to cover my mouth so I won’t laugh too loud.
