PEMERALD POV?

The next morning I got up early because I had to get to the office on time for the emergency meeting I have with the marketing team and my personal assistant have dropped a message about a compulsory meeting with X constructions.

After last night meeting Xavier is the last thing on my mind right now but I have to make sure nothing goes wrong in our allaince if I want things to work in my favor.

Getting to the office, I went straight into the meeting with the marketing team which went on for an hour plus.

“Are

you okay? I think you should have breakfast so you don’t break down due to stress” Penny said as we walked out of the office together.

“Xavier called for a meeting, whatever his reasons are for calling the meeting I don’t think am allowed to miss it. Besides, I don’t think it is good for me to arrive late” I said and Penny smiled.

“It doesn’t change the fact that you need to have breakfast” she said with both hands on her waist.

“Fine, mom ” I said and she burst out laughing as we walked out together and decided to take a stop and have breakfast on our way.

We stopped by a fancy looking eatery where we had breakfast, by the time Penny and I arrived at the meeting they have started the meeting.

Xavier didn’t look pleased at the time at which we walked into the venue because he ignored me and went ahead with what he was doing.

“I believe one of our top investors will visit the site with Xavier and make sure everything is going according to plan, you would not be spending more than two days at the site if am not mistaken” one of the business men said as he leaned on his arm

“Miss Anderson should be available for the trip considering the fact that the both of you are close” one of the men said and I raised my eyebrows in annoyance.

“I don’t understand what’s going on” I said immediately, deep down I was fighting the urge to snap at the older man.

Everything they were saying seem to pause at that moment all that ran through my mind was the fact that I will be traveling with Xavier to another country to supervise the companies building for two days.

Two freaking days with the man I hate, how do I even survive this?? Penny stared at me worriedly I’m pretty sure she was wondering what my reaction will be.

“When are we leaving?” I asked and the man gave a nod.

“I told you miss Anderson is very business minded and will not conform to what the media has to say about her acquaintance” he said gesturing towards Xavier.

“Are we still talking about business ?” I asked while controlling the urge to snap.

“Forgive my manners Miss Anderson” he said and I looked away.

The meeting went on for another hour before it came to an end. Supirisingly, Xavier did not say a word to me he seems to be worried about something more important.

Penny and I made our way out of the company and the entire time my mind kept thinking about the trip and how to handle myself.

about this?” Penny asked curiously and I turned towards her.

“Why?” I asked and she sighed.

“It’s not as if I don’t trust you babe, it’s just that Xavier…is….” she trailed.

“Is what?” I asked and she rubbed her forehead anxiously.

“As much as you want to deny this Rachel we can’t ignore the fact that you are S*xually attracted to Xavier, your b*dy still remembers his touch, what if you guys have a moment? what if he finds out you are non other than Emerald the woman he broke beyond repair?” she asked worriedly.

“That is not going to happen” I said with finality in my voice.

“You sound so sure” she said with eyebrows raised.

“Because I am sure Penelope, am not a loose woman without self control” I said and she opened and closed her mouth like a fish.

“Don’t blame me if I felt like the rules don’t apply when it comes to Xavier” she said in

amusement.

“Just because we have two children together does not mean I can’t resist his touch. The fact that he rejected me and moved on with his mistress is already a huge turn off babe” I said and she seem to get the point.

“I know you do” I said and an uncomfortable silence graced the room as I thought of it.

“WHAT!” dad raised his voice in anger.

“I’m going to France with Xavier for a business trip” I said and dad shook his head immediately.

“No, I do not permit you to go on a business trip with Xavier Jason” he said and Penny gave me an I told you look.

“Because you are not ready to face that man alone, not when you still have feelings for him” dad said standing up from his chair.

“He has no place in my heart pa! you of all people should know that I only have one motive and that is to bring him and his pack to the ground, You know this…” I trailed. off.

“Trust me father, I will never break your trust. This is the first step at getting closer to him, how am I supposed to make him trust me if we don’t spend time together?” I asked and dad sighed softly.

As I typed on my laptop Jayden watched me quietly.

“I know you want to say something Jayden say it and stop digging holes on my face” I said in annoyance.

“You are angry Alpha” he said calmly.

“I am not angry” I said immmediately.

“I have lived with you long enough to know when something is bothering you Alpha Xavier” he said and I sighed softly.

“My mood has been off since this morning it is nothing serious” I said and noticed he was still watching me.

“What!” I snapped in annoyance.

“See, something is bothering you” he said and I sighed and leaned on the arm chair.

“It’s Rachel” I said and he chuckled.

“I knew it” he said and stopped laughing immediately his eyes met mine.

“I did not know anything” he said and I chuckled.

“You are one crazy man Jayden” I said as we both laughed.

“The girl is a trouble” Jayden said teasingly.

“I’m not supposed to tell you this considering the fact that you have no love life what kind of advice can you give?” I said and his mouth formed an O shape.

“Ouch that hurt” he said and I chuckled.

“I feel stressed out anytime I think about Rachel man and the fact that I can’t get my mind off her keeps bothering me” I said and he smiled.

“Maybe you have feelings for her” Jayden said and I sighed.

“You said it yourself Jayden I have a lot of shi t going on in my life right now, I shouldn’t be habouring feelings for Rachel everything in my life is so complicated” I said and he stared at me with pity.

“You won’t say anything?” I asked leaning on my chair.

“What do you want me to say?” he asked calmly.

“That I’m crazy for wanting Rachel while married to Lina? Anything to remind me if my responsibility as Alpha” I said and he sighed softly.

“Life can be complicated sometimes, saying that will not help you in anyway” he said and I smiled
