Part 3: Departure Chapter 13: Ideas Thebes, Egypt 1323 BC

Ankhesenamun

“Hurry” I cried as I was carried through the long, dark hallways of the palace as I felt another sting of pain in my abdomen ‘It’s too early’ I screamed to myself.

“Alexandria, go get the mid-wives, and hurry” Tutankhamun cried as he hurried to my chambers, I looked over and Alexandria turn a corner and rush down a different hallway. When Tutankhamun and I finally reached the birthing chamber in my chambers, he stayed with me till Pentu and the mid-wives came with Alexandria and her mother, and they’d kicked him out of the room.

“Thank the Gods that you two are here” I sighed when Alexandria and her mother were by my side

“Of course, we want to help” Alexandria’s mother said as she and her daughter took my hands into their.

A few hours later, the chief mid-wife finally called out “The baby is crowning my lady” I groaned as I pushed with all of my might, and before I knew it the baby was out and was spanked, but there was no sound, and I all ready knew that it was like my last baby “How bad is it?” I asked as I was cleaned

“Not good my lady”

“Explain” I demanded

“Well I’m afraid that the child is worse than the last” I let out a cry of pain as I buried myself in Alexandria’s stomach crying, and she hugged me tightly

“I’m so sorry Ankhesenamun; I wish I can do something for the baby”

“But you can time travel; can’t you do something for my baby?” I whispered to her

“I’m afraid not, I still don’t know how to use my talent, and if I did know, then I would go to my own time and get something that would save your baby, I’m sorry” I hugged her again. When Tutankhamun, Alexandria’s father and brothers entered a few minutes later a few minutes later, Tutankhamun looked around eagerly

“Where’s the baby?” he asked, I could see the excitement in his young, doe like eyes. I felt saddened by the loss of our baby because today was his nineteenth birthday

“I’m afraid that Anubis is trying to ruin your birthday my lord” I replied sadly as the light in his eyes and face flicker out as he ran to me and hugged me tightly

“Oh Ankhesenamun, my beautiful wife, everything’s going to be okay, we still have time” he whispered to me

“Right, we won’t worry because Alexandria gave you an heir and you no longer need me since I can’t give you beautiful babies”

“But my lady, I’m sure that the babies were beautiful”

“But they were deformed” I wined

“That wouldn’t have mattered they would have been beautiful to us” he smiled sadly

“Right, you two can still try and have a baby” Alexandria said as I put my head on my pillow

“Thank you, I think I’m going to rest” I watched as Tutankhamun shooed everyone, except Alexandria away

“We’ll help you through this” Alexandria said as she and Tutankhamun lied next to me.

Tutankhamun

3 months later Ankhesenamun finally recovered from the death of the baby, who we later found out was a girl, and the two of us were walking by a pool one bright morning “Beautiful isn’t?” I asked

“Yes it is, and I have such a wonderful brother and friend to care for me” I smiled as I sat her on a bench.

“I had a dream of a baby again last night” I said

“Oh Tutankhamun I want that dream to become real to you, me and Alexandria with our beautiful, healthy babies

“And I think that what happened with our daughters wasn’t really your fault or the Gods fault for the babies’ deaths”

“What do you mean?” she asked

“I mean, it’s entirely my fault, the Gods disprove of me because of who our father was, so they won’t let us have healthy and beautiful babies together, and I think that”

“No don’t say that I should hold another man’s child. I won’t, not now, not ever”

“Please Ankhesenamun, do it for me, I know how much you want to have a little baby to care for and to love as you own instead of always helping Alexandria with the twins”

“But” she gulped

“Please, I know that it may seem unpleasant but we can tell everyone else that it’s mine and only you, I and Alexandria can know the truth” I pleaded

“Fine, but I’m only doing it because I love you.”

Alexandria

“Alexandria wait up” Ron called as I rushed to my chambers. When he finally caught up I was holding the twins in my arms

“Sorry Ron, I had to take care of the twins” I apologized

“That’s all that you seem to do now a days, other than doing you studies, practicing with Tutankhamun or helping Ankhesenamun around the palace”

“I know, but don’t worry, it won’t be like this forever” I said as I finished feeding the twins their afternoon snack of mashed up fruit and juice.

“Wonder if we can take them to the future with us after Tutankhamun dies” Ron said as I put the 1 year olds down

“He won’t die Ron; Mark said that I have to save him”

“My lady” a messenger said from the door of my bedchamber

“Yes” I asked as I stood

“His majesty would like to see you in your garden”

“Thank you” I said as I picked up Tiye and Thutmose and walked outside with Ron in tow. When I arrived at the garden that Tutankhamun wanted to see me at, I glided over to him saying “My dearest lord, it’s a pleasure to see you again, and not eaten up by Aye and Horemheb I see. How’s Smenkare these days?”

“It’s a pleasure to see you as well my love. My brother’s doing well, not great since he’s has to be a fan bearer” Tutankhamun laughed as he hoisted his daughter in the air. “Here, let’s sit” he said after a minute.

“Now, what is it that you wanted to talk about?” I asked when we sat, while I waited for a response, I watched as Ron played with his niece and nephew in the grass,

“Ankhesenamun and I have agreed that since I can no longer produce a healthy heir with her, that it would on be fair if another man be the father of the child” I saw how much of a hard time he was having with this idea, so I put my hand on his and held it

“Everything will be okay, have you two decided about a good person to help with this?” I asked and he nodded

“We’ve decided that it should be General Nakhtim, he’s strong and loyal, and I trust him”

“Does he know that this is your idea?”

“No, he thinks that I’m clueless in all of this, and I was going to do a hunting trip

“NO!” I shouted as I stood

“Alexandria, why is this such a problem, I thought that you would be in this with Ankhesenamun and I”

“In my time, it’s believed that you died from a chariot accident while you were out hunting” I whimpered as he pulled me close. Suddenly I saw something in the bushes at one end of the garden, and an arrow head glint of sunshine, and it was aimed right at Tutankhamun’s turned back “Get down” I whispered to my husband

“What?” he asked as he looked into my eyes, I pulled him down while kissing him, and I saw the arrow shoot past us and hit a nearby tree. Tutankhamun saw it as well, and let me go and called for the guards, who came rushing in and I pointed out where I thought I saw the assassin could have run off to.

Tutankhamun

Later on that day, Alexandria and I were relaxing on her bed with the twins squirming beneath us “I’m glad that you saw the archer and told me to get down when you did” I said after a few minutes of silence

“It was only because I love you, and I don’t want you to die”

“Do you think that it could have been the time that I could have died in your time?” I asked

“Might have been, but I do know that the Gods won’t stop trying till to kill you till either you do die, or I take you to my time”

“You know I could fake my death as well as you, your family and Ankhesenamun, and we could go to your time and live a life of peace of politics.” She smiled as she kissed me

“My sweet love, Egypt needs their Pharaoh and Queen. You need to stay and live out you innocent young life with me, Ankhesenamun and the twins” she sighed as she kissed me again,

“But I don’t want to die, I want to live to see my children grow and have children of their own, and I want to grow old with you and Ankhesenamun” I said as I rested my head on her shoulder, and I heard my daughter gave out a little whimper “See, even she wants me to go to your time with you”

“No, she’s just hungry” Alexandria said as she got up and got Tiye food. When she’d finished feeding the baby and had put both Tiye and Thutmose down in their bed for a nap, and returned to her bed, I pulled on her shoulders and pinned her down

“Alexandria, you will take Ankhesenamun and I to you time no matter what you say” I said as I watched her squirm underneath me and I smiled

“But you might get sick because in my time the air is very bad for your sweet lungs”

“Then we’ll heal ourselves and make our bodies immune to your bad air just like you are’

“I, I just can’t lose you” she whispered

“Then take me with you” I muttered as I started kissing her, I felt her arms slip from my grasp and wrap around my neck as my lips slowly moved down to her neck then to her collarbone

“Make love to me my love” I heard her whisper, so I started to slowly slip her dress off and started kissing her slim body, making her groan with pleasure.

Ankhesenamun

I was sitting in the dining room with my cat Isis, sleeping on my lap. I was waiting for Alexandria, Tutankhamun and breakfast to arrive. When my best friend and husband finally entered I smiled and waved at them “My lady, how are you this beautiful morning?” Tutankhamun asked as he kissed my fingers

“I’m much better than I was yesterday” I smiled as I watched Alexandria talk with her family

“Ankhesenamun, I’m so glad that you’re getting better” Tutankhamun said drawing my attention back to him

“I know, but I still want a baby of my own” I sighed as I stroked his cheek

“I know, and you will get a beautiful child of your own as soon as Nakhtim arrives” Tutankhamun said as he sat next to me and Alexandria took her seat just a messenger rushed in and bowed in front of us. “What new do you have?” my husband asked

“It’s general Nakhtim; he has arrived my lord, and wishes to have a counsel with you after breakfast”

“Thank you, you may go now” After breakfast he asked me “My lady would you like to come?” I nodded and followed

“What about Alexandria?” I asked as I suddenly stopped

“She said that she wants to show her family some of her favorite places in the palace” Tutankhamun replied as he pulled my hand and finished leading me to the audience chamber where Nakhtim waited. When we entered the audience chamber and sat down, Nakhtim came forward and bowed

“My lord and lady, I’ve come to tell you of our progress in the army and to speak with the Queen alone” he said and Tutankhamun nodded

“Then inform us on the Army” he said. That night, I thumped onto my bed exhausted from a long a long day of work. Nakhtim had agreed to help with the heir of Egypt under one condition, he was allowed to see it. Unfortunately I’d caved in and told him that Tutankhamun was in on the plan as well, I had thought that the general would get angry but he hadn’t, he just shrugged his shoulders and told me that he all ready had a family back in the delta, and that he would just leave after the child was born, then he left to look over some documents for the army.

Alexandria

A month and a half later I was relaxing by one of my favorite pools with Ron, Ramses and the twins “So what are you planning on doing once Tutankhamun dies?” Ron asked as he gazed at the sleeping children

“Don’t know, maybe return to our own time with Ankhesenamun”

“Have you considered having him live in our own time with us?” Ramses asked

“Yes I have, and I’m still thinking”

“What are you guys talking about?” Tutankhamun asked as he strolled in

“You” I replied as we sat up

“Is that right?” he teased as he sat in front of us

“Yes, that is true” Ramses smiled

“And what about me were you talking about?”

“Having you live in the future with us” I looked at my husband, he seemed a bit confused

“And” he asked

“And I said that I was still thinking about it” I said

“I see, now boys, I must speak with your sister for a little bit” the boys nodded and left “Talking about the future huh?” Tutankhamun suddenly seemed amused

“It wasn’t my idea” I giggled as I watched him sit on the chair next to me.

“Alexandria, I keep hearing people in Thebes are saying that I’m a weak Pharaoh”

“Don’t listen to them, not when the Gods know that isn’t true” I said as I took his hand

“I know, that’s why I’m going on a” we were suddenly stopped when Ankhesenamun walked in, she seemed dumbfounded

“My lady, what’s the matter?” Tutankhamun asked as we stood and walked over to her

“I’m pregnant again”

“You are, this is wonderful” he cried as he lifted Ankhesenamun, and spun her in his arms

“Ankhesenamun, I’m so glad for you” I smiled when Tutankhamun set her down and I gave her a hug

“Thanks, but I’m really nervous that the baby might turn out like the other two”

“Ankhesenamun, don’t say that, the baby is going to be just fine” I said as I held her hand

“Promise?” she asked

“I swear by Ma’at” I smiled.
