Chapter 988:
Eileen didnât struggle, realizing that Bryan wasnât one for words. She believed she would have to wait for a more opportune moment to persuade Raymond.
Despite having moved to the villa with Bryan and Eileen and spending time with Gabriela, Leyla often found herself sighing. She longed to return to the Vazquez Mansion, but she hesitated to leave because it meant she wouldnât be able to see Eileen and the others every day.
Eileen was aware of Leylaâs desire to return to the Vazquez Mansion, so she made a promise to return and reside in the Vazquez Mansion for a while once the companyâs situation became more stable.
However, Eileen was caught off guard when Leyla abruptly packed her belongings and prepared to depart without saying anything to her.
When a servant phoned her at work, telling her about this, Eileen hastened home and asked Leyla what had caused her to want to leave so suddenly.
âI have something to deal with at the mansion. I have to go back,â Leyla said, standing with two suitcases and a delicate woven bag beside her.
Eileen set the car key aside, sat down next to Leyla, and asked, âDidnât we instruct the staff at the old mansion to direct any visitors seeking you to come to the city? Itâs such a long journey for you to go back. How can you go back without any preparation?â
Leyla shook her head and said, âI need to go back and handle something myself.â
The dynamics of the Vazquez family were somewhat complex, and since Eileen had only recently taken the reins of the VQ Group, she wasnât well-versed in the familyâs intricacies.
Seeing that she couldnât convince Leyla, Eileen said, âThen wait for a while. Itâs already evening. Iâll arrange for a camper van and go with you.â

âWhy?â Eileen looked at her in surprise.
Leyla paused for a moment before replying, âItâs not that you canât return, but that you shouldnât have to. There are too many pressing matters that require your attention here.â
She looked out of the window to avoid Eileenâs gaze.
Eileen gently turned Leylaâs face to face her, saying, âYou know that Iâm not busy here. If it werenât for Bryan, I would have spent time with Gabriela and you every day.â
Leyla brushed Eileenâs hand aside and said, âItâs because Bryanâs head over heels for you! Iâm proud that you have such a strong hold on someone as powerful as him.â
âI may have influence over Bryan, but I donât have any power over your actions. Youâre willing to leave without even informing me. How can I not feel worried? I donât care about your objections; if you refuse to let me accompany you, then I wonât let you leave,â Eileen said, grasping Leylaâs wrist.
âPlease listen to me. Donât put me in a difficult position. The Vazquez family matters are complex, and youâre not familiar with them. Itâs not in your best interest to return with me now. I can manage the situation effectively, and you can join me later.â Leylaâs expression turned stern as she continued, âIf you refuse to listen to me, Iâll be furious. Iâll leave this place, move back to the Vazquez Mansion, and live alone from now on.â
Eileen had never seen Leyla like this before, so she felt compelled to compromise. Despite her compromise, Eileen still organized a camper van and asked a trustworthy driver to drive Leyla back. After Leyla got into the camper van and lay on the bed, Eileen instructed the driver to depart.
