Chapter 982:
âIf you canât find the jade seal here today, Iâll expect you to kneel and apologize to me publicly,â Kamila said firmly.
A collective gasp swept through the crowd, and then, the area fell silent. Despite the presence of so many, no one dared to breathe loudly.
A few people glanced at the man standing behind Eileen.
Bryan stood straight, his piercing eyes cold.
Kamila involuntarily shivered. But then, her face darkened.
âWhatâs the matter? Youâre allowed to demean us, but we canât defend our dignity?â
The women near her subtly shifted away. Their slight movements were telling to any observant onlooker. Everyone knew what they meant.
âMrs. Aston, is your reputation that important to you? I understand. If I fail to find the jade seal on you all, I will kneel and apologize publicly. But if I do find it, how will you make it up to me?â Eileen said calmly, her hands clasped behind her back.
Kamila was stunned, and for a moment, she thought she had heard a joke.
âIâm not sure about the intelligence your family possesses, but I am familiar with the insolence that runs in the Vasquez blood. Fine, then. Letâs make that bet.â
While they spoke, the tall waitress in the crowd kept giving Kamila looks and trying to get her attention. Unfortunately, Kamila didnât notice her.
The catering service they had contracted for the event was arranged by the hotel, so the service crew consisted of hotel staff.

Eileen was also prepared to start the search. She took the pearl bracelet off her wrist and placed it in Bryanâs hand.
âHold on to it,â she said. âI donât think weâd be able to find it if it gets lost.â
Kamilaâs expression darkened at the implication.
Eileen walked up to Kamila and said, âIâd like to search you first, Mrs. Aston. Please set your bag down on that chair. Iâll go through it once Iâm done searching you, is that okay?â
Instead of answering, Kamila just rolled her eyes. She angrily tossed her bag on the chair. Unfortunately, she used so much force that the bag bounced off the seat and fell to the floor. Raymond had to walk over and place it back on the chair.
Eileen proceeded with the search. Patting Kamilaâs back, she remarked, âThis part is a little flabby.â Kamila was speechless.
âBut itâs natural since youâre getting old,â Eileen continued. âItâs actually impressive that you still manage to have such a figure at your age. Your skin is pretty good, too.â
She spoke casually, but her every word was like a dagger to Kamilaâs heart.
âOh, you have bowlegs,â Eileen said as she moved down to Kamilaâs legs.
âThis is easily curable, and your family is rich. Why didnât they have you treated as a child?â
âShut up!â Kamila finally exploded. âWhy are you talking so much? Just get on with it!â
Eileen shrugged.
âMy hands are busy, but my mouth is free. I just wanted to chat and get closer to you. Is that wrong?â
