Chapter 969:
Without missing a beat, Jessica texted back and arranged a meeting with the buyer to inspect the villa. Her own villa had already been repossessed, leaving only the property under Giannaâs name. Lately, with Gianna and Conroy strapped for cash, her allowance had dwindled to almost nothing. She didnât think about having a place to live; she just wanted the money from the sale.
The next morning, the potential buyer came and marveled at the well-appointed villa.
âWhy sell such a gem?â the buyer asked.
Jessica, engrossed in her phone, barely glanced up.
âIf you want it, buy it. Why so many questions?â
Hearing that, the buyer said, âIâll take it. How soon can we transfer ownership?â
âHow about tomorrow? Leave a deposit of two hundred thousand today,â Jessica replied, her mind already on the party she had lined up for noon. Two hundred thousand would be more than enough to cover her expenses this time.
The buyer insisted on a written pledge and handed over the deposit. They went their separate ways.
After touching up her makeup, Jessica headed out for a fun-filled afternoon with friends, completely forgetting about visiting the hospital to see Gianna until it was nearly four oâclock.
When she finally walked into the ward, Conroy was asleep. She couldnât have cared less about Conroy and blurted out, âGet a caregiver for my father tomorrow. You need to go to the housing administration to transfer the ownership of the villa to the buyer. Heâll pay you then.â

âWhy did you rush to sell the villa two million below market value?â Jessicaâs voice rose. âWeâve taken a huge hit. That two million couldâve kept me going for ages!â
Fearing disturbing Conroyâs sleep, Gianna ushered Jessica out of the ward.
The moment they were out in the corridor, Conroyâs eyes snapped open. âSelling the villa?â
His mind raced, torn between rushing out to stop the matter and staying put to avoid jail time.
In the long, dimly lit corridor, Gianna shoved Jessica to the far end, demanding, âWhat on earth were you talking about? Transferring ownership?â
âDidnât you let me sell the villa? Iâve already sealed the deal, and the buyer didnât even haggle,â Jessica shot back, her tone dripping with impatience.
Giannaâs heart skipped a beat. âWhen did I ever tell you to sell the villa?â
Jessicaâs brow furrowed. âYou posted the ad yourself and left my number. The buyer came this morning to inspect the villa and decided to buy.â
Seeing Giannaâs bewildered expression, Jessica pulled out her phone and showed her the advertisement. Giannaâs face drained of color.
âI didnât post this!â
âNot you? Then who? Whatâs going on?â Jessicaâs eyes widened in shock.
