Chapter 963:
âEmerson had a fever last night, but it didnât seem too severe. However, this morning, he suddenly convulsed and started bleeding from his nose. The doctor rushed him to the ICU and told me he was on the brink of death. I was at a loss for what to do, and I didnât know who to turn to. I didnât want to burden you again, but Iâ¦â
She was so distraught that she nearly pulled Eileen off balance, but fortunately, Bryan was there to steady Eileenâs shoulder, allowing her to regain her footing.
âTry to calm down. Iâll speak with the doctor and ask Bryan to find a top leukemia specialist in our country,â Eileen said.
Dalores hastily wiped away her tears, rose to her feet, and gazed at Eileen and Bryan with hopeful eyes.
âReally? Youâll do that? Youâll really find a doctor? Emerson will be fine then, right?â
âYes, he will be fine.â Eileen gently guided Dalores to sit back down on the bench and patted her on the back to comfort her.
As Bryan turned to contact the doctor, Dalores slowly began to calm down. The corridor, once filled with noise, had become eerily quiet.
Just then, the ICU door swung open, and the doctor called out, âWhich one of you is⦠Please come here.â
A young couple and several elderly people hastily approached the doctor. After the doctor said something to the family, they burst into tears, overcome with emotion.
The childâs mother was consumed by grief, collapsing to the floor as she wailed uncontrollably, while the others stood by, equally distraught and lacking the strength to lift her up.

Take comfort in knowing that your child was surrounded by love and happiness with you and your husband by his side these past few years. Youâre still young, and you have the chance to build a new life and have another childâ¦â
Daloresâ heart skipped a beat when she heard this.
Just recently, Emerson had started to utter his first words. He would sometimes say, âMaâ¦â
When she and Emerson had lived with Kinsey, Emerson would always look at Kinsey with adoring eyes. Kinseyâs presence alone had been enough to make Emersonâs eyes sparkle with excitement, even though Kinsey had never bothered to hug him.
Therefore, it was likely that Emerson would be happy to have both his parents by his side. Daloresâ mind was a jumble of thoughts as ideas continually surfaced and were pushed back.
It wasnât until almost noon that the doctor emerged with an update, revealing that Emersonâs condition had stabilized. His fever had subsided, and he would be closely monitored for another twelve hours before being transferred out of the ICU. Hearing this, Dalores breathed a sigh of relief and thanked the doctor.
She then turned to Eileen and Bryan.
âThank you. Itâs time for lunch. Iâll treat you to lunch.â
But she was only offering to buy them lunch within the hospital, as she couldnât venture far due to Emersonâs precarious condition.
This put Daloresâ mind at ease. Eileen agreed, and Bryan was willing to do anything Eileen wanted.
