Chapter 962:
âIâve tasked Raymond with tracking down the hospital where Conroy is being treated. Iâm trying to get in touch with the doctor who diagnosed him, but heâs adamant that Conroy has a heart condition,â Bryan explained.
The hospital was under the control of the Aston family, but Bryan chose not to tell Eileen about this.
âHe was still able to argue with me that day, so how could he possibly have a heart condition?â It was easy for Eileen to come to the conclusion that Conroy was pretending to be sick.
She freed her ankle from Bryanâs grasp and sat up on the bed, her expression dark.
âWeâre working on a plan to get Conroy to repay the debt, one way or another,â Bryan assured her.
âThe real issue is that those workers will be on edge every day, waiting for payment,â Eileen said.
After a momentâs thought, she added, âI canât just drop it. Iâll use EB Groupâs funds to pay the workers, and then, after Conroy pays the money back, Iâll transfer the funds back through VQ Group.â
âWhatever you want,â Bryan responded.
He gently stroked her long hair and suggested, âWhy donât you head downstairs for breakfast first?â
As his fingertips grazed from her scalp down to her earlobe, Eileenâs heart melted. She wrapped her arms around his neck, leaned in close, and whispered, âNow, will you take me to freshen up and get ready for the day?â
â± â¶âµáº¸Å⸠â¡á¸¤â³â±â¸ÉⱤŠⱻ gð¶lnovÑlð .ðá´m âOkay.â Bryan gently led her into the bathroom while she washed her face and brushed her teeth. Thirty minutes later, Eileen headed downstairs to find Leyla and Gabriela lounging in the living room, watching TV. She made her way to the dining room for breakfast, occasionally exchanging conversation with Gabriela.
While having breakfast, her phone rang. It was Dalores calling, and she sounded worried.
âEileen, please come to the hospital right away. Emersonâs condition has taken a turn for the worse. He suddenly developed a high fever and has been transferred to the ICU. Iâm getting really scared.â
âOkay. Iâll be right there.â Eileen took one last bite of her sandwich and then hurried upstairs to change into clothes before making her way to the hospital.
She couldnât imagine how desperate and worried Dalores must be feeling right now. Worried that she might become too emotional, Bryan accompanied her and offered words of comfort on the way to the hospital. âIf you canât keep a level head, Dalores will fall apart completely.â
âI know,â Eileen said, taking a deep breath and composing herself.
However, upon arriving at the hospital and seeing Dalores sobbing in the waiting area outside the ICU, Eileen almost couldnât stay composed. Daloresâ hair was disheveled, her eyes were red and puffy, and her eyelashes were clumped together from crying so much.
âEileen, youâre hereâ¦â Dalores sat up, grasping Eileenâs hand and recounting the events in a trembling voice.
