Chapter 954:
Bryan replied angrily, âNo one would even dare buy you, even if I tried to sell you.â
He had marked her as his ownâwho would dare cross that line?
âBut there must be someone whoâs interested,â Eileen teased.
âEnough of that,â Bryan said, his tone shifting. âIâm working late tonight, but I can take the weekend off. Where would you like to go for fun?â
Since moving to Alverton, they had been swamped with tasks and hadnât had the chance to enjoy the sprawling landscapes.
Eileenâs interest was piqued by his suggestion. After a momentâs thought, she said, âHow about we go horseback riding? I read online that Alverton has foals. We could even let Gabriela have some fun with us.â
âHorseback riding, huh?â Bryan said after a brief pause. âSounds like youâve never had a real night out yet.â
The unexpected comment made Eileenâs ears flush red. She quickly ended the call. Just then, someone knocked on the car window, causing her to turn her head.
Julio leaned down, gesturing for Eileen to lower the window.
âIs Dalores at the hospital?â he asked. He had followed her there, only to lose sight of her in the crowd. Scanning the area fruitlessly, he eventually noticed Eileen. âDonât lie to me,â he added. âYouâre here, too. This canât be a coincidence.â
Eileen quickly composed herself before saying, âWe just bumped into each other and chatted.â
âTell me whatâs really going on,â Julio insisted, rapping his knuckles against the car door. âWhat has Dalores been doing?â

Julioâs brow furrowed. âSince when does he need you to visit his wife? Come on, Eileen. Why wonât you tell me the truth?â
âI truly have no clue what youâre getting at. Oh, speaking of which, didnât you say you were going to have your baby as some kind of twisted compensation? Maybe sheâs here to find out if sheâs pregnant,â Eileen said, maintaining a calm demeanor.
Pregnant? That thought sent Julioâs mind to the gynecology and obstetrics department, realizing he had overlooked it earlier. Without another word, he spun on his heel and rushed back into the hospital. Eileen watched him leave, releasing a long-held breath before driving away.
The court was prepared to hear the case of Conroyâs embezzlement after a week. Bryan took advantage of his Saturday off to take Eileen and Gabriela to the nearest stable. The vast grassland stretched out before them, dotted with horses grazing freely. While these wild beauties were for admiration only, the stable offered well-trained mounts for riding along designated paths.
Eileen selected a black horse for herself and a pure white pony for Gabriela. Despite being just a year old, Gabriela showed no fear, looking adorable in the riding suit and hat Bryan had thoughtfully purchased in advance.
Bryan had also procured a riding outfit for Eileenâa crisp white shirt paired with a blue vest. Eileenâs long black hair was swept up into a high ponytail, swaying in the breeze. She cut a striking figure. Bryanâs own riding suit matched Eileenâs in blue, making it clear they were a couple.
