“Those Byrd family people are a bunch of snakes! But the Perry family said they’d help me. Won’t that work?”

“They were just putting on a show for Eileen and Bryan, pretending to have your back or defend the Byrd family. That won’t get us anywhere!” Gianna was regretful. Kamila had given them two perfect opportunities, and they had blown both of them! And now, they were even facing a lawsuit!

Gianna turned and headed home, desperate to find a way out of this mess.

Eileen handed the legal matters to her lawyer. She was focused on regaining her energy and needed time to think. She was trying to figure out what the Aston family’s role was in this matter. Until she had a clearer picture, she decided to keep Leyla in the dark. However, she did casually bring up a few things during their chats, trying to fish for information without raising any alarms.

“Do you know the Byrd family?” Eileen asked Leyla.

“Yeah.” Leyla rolled her eyes. “The lady of the Byrd family used to be your grandpa’s first love, you know.”

Eileen’s eyes went wide, clearly taken aback. She wasn’t sure if she should keep asking.

“So, the Byrd family holds a grudge against us?” Eileen eventually asked, unable to contain her curiosity.

“I’m the one who’s been holding a grudge,” Leyla said with a snort. “I’ve been cursing that woman for years, but our families still get along. The younger side of the Byrd family isn’t so bad.”

Eileen asked, “What about the relationship between the Byrd family and the Aston family? Do they get along well?”

Eileen’s jaw dropped. All this love history was giving her a headache. She couldn’t keep track of who was with who.

But Leyla quickly added, “That old man from the Aston family is a piece of work. He’s petty and always causing trouble for the Byrd family. They’ve had a terrible relationship for years. Why are you asking all these questions anyway? What’s going on?”

So, basically, the Aston family and the Byrd family had a bad relationship. The Byrd family had been forced to repay the favor they owed the Aston family, but then, they betrayed them.

“I’ve been hearing some rumors,” Eileen said. “I just wanted to know what the deal is between our family and the Byrd family.”

“Rumors?” Leyla quickly sat up straight. “What kind of rumors? Did that old lady from the Byrd family say she had the Perry family’s head in your grandfather’s heart, trying to make the Vazquez family look bad?”

“No, Grandma, nothing like that. I just heard some things about the Byrd family; it has nothing to do with us.” Eileen shook her head frantically.
