Chapter 930:
âIsnât she our little heir in the making?â Eileen pointed at Gabriela, who was watching Bryan intently as he prepared her food.
When Gabriela noticed Eileen pointing at her, her large, curious eyes darted between the two adults, as if silently asking, âWhatâs going on?â
After a moment of thought, Bryan said, âHavenât you felt worn out running the company all these years? Women just arenât built for this kind of grind like men are.â
âMen?â Eileen blinked, cradling her bowl, catching on to his intent. She feigned ignorance.
âYouâre right. Letâs skip the restaurant idea. You can keep managing the company,â Eileen said.
Bryan replied, âBut Iâll age like everyone else. Someday, I wonât be able to work anymore, and Iâll need to retire.â
Eileen flashed a grin. âSo, whenâs this grand retirement of yours?â
Bryan thought for a moment before responding. âIâll work another twenty years and retire in my fifties.â
âBy then, Iâll replace you with three eighteen-year-olds,â Eileen quipped.
As soon as Eileen finished speaking, Bryan leaned in swiftly, his fingers gently grasping her neck as he planted a firm kiss on her lips.
Eileen felt a twinge of pain and tasted blood. She retaliated by pinching his ear.
âWeâve only been truly together for a little less than seven years, and now, youâre starting to try to hurt me?â Bryan muttered.
IâÅ£â¬Åâ ¢нåÏÑεÑŠ¡η gâlиÏνεâÅ¡.cøm After Eileen pinched his ear, he winced as a dull buzz of pain settled in. Gabriela, standing nearby, had watched the entire scene with wide eyes.
âBetter she sees us fighting than something inappropriate!â Eileen remarked, noticing the scratch her nails had left on Bryanâs ear. She had probably pinched him too hard in her frustration.
Bryan, still nursing his sore ear, turned back to preparing Gabrielaâs food. Without a word, he scooped up the slightly cooled spaghetti and placed it in her bowl.
Eileen reached out to poke him in the back, trying to get his attention, but Bryan remained resolute, feeding Gabriela. He firmly turned away from Eileen. Realizing she might have gone too far, Eileen knew she had to find a way to make Bryan not angry. But Bryan wasnât making it easyâhis silent treatment stretched for days. Even Gabriela had sensed something was amiss. Finding an opportunity, she said to Eileen, âDaddyâs mad!â
âHeâs mad at me, not you,â Eileen whispered to Gabriela.
âCan you help me cheer him up?â
Gabriela pondered this for a long moment before saying, âIf you let Daddy kiss you, he wonât be mad anymore!â
Eileen was at a loss for words.
Bryan, focused on his work, couldnât help but crack a smile. He believed Gabriela knew him better than Eileen did now.
When Eileen turned to look at him, he quickly returned to his serious demeanor, shifting his focus back to his work. But Eileen could see the hint of pleasure in his expression. She got up, grabbed her bag, and said, âIâm going to the hospital to see Dolores. Youâll have to watch Gabriela now.â
