Chapter 926:
She walked out of the lounge, a hint of frustration in her voice. âSince I canât help with work, why insist on bringing me here?â
Bryan didnât bother looking up from his work. âYouâre refusing to keep me company at night, and now, you wonât even let me enjoy your beauty during the day? Paying off a million-dollar debt isnât going to be easy.â
Eileen pouted, then asked, âWhen are we going home for lunch?â
This time, Bryan met her gaze. âLunch at home? Thereâs no time for that. Yalifâs grandmother and the staff are there. Gabrielaâs well taken care of, youâre staying right here with me.â
Eileen opened her mouth to argue but quickly realized Bryan had already thought of everything. She sighed in resignation.
Just then, an unwelcome distraction came.
As lunchtime approached, Raymond pushed open the door and entered with a message. âConroy asked to send a message that he wants to meet you and has something very important to discuss, Ms. Eileen.â
âIâm busy.â Lying on the sofa with her legs crossed, Eileen gestured towards Bryan and added, âIâll be costing him tens of thousands of dollars every minute I stay here.â
Raymondâs mouth twitched slightly. He hesitated to get involved in matters concerning Bryanâs family, managing to say, âConroy mentioned that if you donât meet him, heâll keep visiting until you do.â
It was clearly still a hassle. Without a word, Eileen simply sat up and leaned her head against the back of the sofa, looking at Bryan. Bryan relaxed his grip on his pen and raised an eyebrow. âSince someoneâs offering us a meal, I see no reason to refuse.â

The restaurant where they were meeting was not far from the VQ Group. When Eileen and Bryan arrived, Conroy had already been waiting for a while. Upon their arrival, Conroy pulled out chairs for them and signaled the waiter to hand them the menu.
âThe meal is on me today, so feel free to order whatever you want,â Conroy said.
Bryan selected several well-known specialty dishes, and the cost of the meal easily reached tens of thousands. Conroy wouldnât have thought twice about such an expense, but nowâ¦
He tried hard to play it cool and said, âThis restaurant is known for its excellent cuisine. Knowing youâve been away from here for so long, I chose this place specifically.â
After ordering, Bryan set down the menu and pointed at Conroy, announcing, âHeâll take care of the bill.â
âOkay.â The waiter presented the bill and stated, âSir, your total is sixty-eight thousand.â
âWell, we can settle the bill after the meal, right? Feel free to order more if you find something else you like,â Conroy suggested, while uneasily pinching the bank card in his pocket. He was worried the money on his debit card wouldnât be enough to cover the meal.
He had hoped to threaten Eileen into paying for the meal after their conversation. But nowâ¦
Bryanâs expression was stern, leaving Conroy feeling intimidated. Conroy reluctantly pulled out his credit card and said, âUse this card.â
