Chapter 921:
After a lively conversation with Gabriela, Ruby passed the phone to Bailee.
âEileen, I have something to tell you. Is now a good time?â Bailee asked.
Eileen gently took the phone from Gabriela, gestured for Bryan to watch over the child, and then stepped into the adjacent study.
Bailee noticed that Eileen was alone in the study now, so she said, âThat Miss Sampson, the teacher you introduced earlier, is requesting an advance on her salary.â
âReally?â Eileen thought for a moment and said, âGive her an advance.â
âOkay, Iâll ask the accounting department to give it to her later. And⦠thereâs another thing about Milford,â Bailee sighed.
Eileenâs heart skipped a beat at the mention of Milford, prompting her to ask, âWhatâs going on with him?â
âWeâve already handed over the money to the police station, but despite my repeated requests, Milford continues to refuse to see me. Iâm getting anxious that something might have happened to him. Should I ask Bryan to help us get updates on his situation?â Bailee explained. Despite not having a biological connection to Milford, they had shared a long history of living together as a family.
The circumstances surrounding Milfordâs situation weighed heavily on both Eileen and Bailee, making it impossible for them to simply ignore it.
âOkay, Iâll talk to him,â Eileen replied with a frown.
âSince he got into prison, weâve had no contact with him, and weâre uncertain if heâs being bullied. He might be hesitant to see us because of whatâs been happening to him. Furthermore, I donât know if he is receiving the resources Bryan arranged to be sent to him monthly.â The more Bailee thought about it, the more upset she became.
âIâm uncertain if the resources have been delivered, but I believe heâs okay and not facing any bullying. The situation might not be as dire as youâre imagining,â Eileen said, trying to comfort Bailee.
Since Eileen didnât know when she would return from Alverton, she had requested that Bailee keep a closer eye on the situation at the prison.
Bryan had only briefly mentioned that the police had informed him Milford was undergoing rehabilitation and might be eligible for early release. But Eileen couldnât see Milford, which was really worrying.
After ending the call, Eileen switched off the light and returned to her bedroom, where Bryan had already put Gabriela to bed. He had also freshened up with a shower and was now lying on the bed, dealing with something on his phone.
As Eileen approached, he hastily patted the spot next to him and said, âIâll be occupied tomorrow, but I promise to behave and⦠well, you know.â
Eileen removed her slippers and got onto the bed. âI donât mind. But can you do me a favor?â
She knelt with her knees apart, maintaining a cautious distance from him.
âJust tell me what it is,â Bryan said, narrowing his eyes.
As soon as Eileen mentioned Milford, Bryan threw off the covers and got out of bed to make a call.
