Chapter 909:
Eileen seized the moment to tease Bryan. She replied, âIâm broke. I have to give your father a million dollars as his salary every month. Weâll be starving soon.â
Gabriela didnât grasp the humor, but Bryan chuckled, shaking his head. He said, âDonât worry, honey. Iâll take care of you both. As long as I get paid, Iâll give you whatever you want.â
âI donât even have the money to pay your dad,â Eileen replied without missing a beat.
Bryan sighed theatrically.
âThen how can you promise to pay me? Iâm out of money too, so itâs up to your mom to buy the things you want, Gabriela.â
Gabriela had just woken up, her hair a tousled mess. She looked back and forth between her parents, her big black eyes glistening with confusion. She clearly didnât understand what Eileen and Bryan were saying.
Eileen leaned closer to Bryan, her voice dropping to a playful whisper.
âHoney, how about I have sex with you if you give up your salary?â
Suddenly, the screech of brakes echoed through the empty road. Bryanâs grip on the wheel tightened, his veins standing out.
He snapped, âIâm driving! Donât say things like that!â
âWell, are you?â Eileen asked, jolting against the driverâs seat as the car came to a stop. For a moment, Bryanâs heart pounded with a mix of frustration and attraction surging through him.
He growled, âThere are six days left until payday. Satisfy me in those days, and you can have my life, let alone the salary!â

âDad, donât rush! I donât want to eat toast anymore!â Gabrielaâs small voice cut through the tension, affected by the sudden stop. Thankfully, the child seat kept her secure.
Misunderstanding the playful exchange, she thought her parents were arguing over the toast and quickly waved her hands.
âI donât want to eat that anymore. I can be hungry a little longer!â
Eileen turned, smoothing her daughterâs hair with a tender hand.
âGabriela, weâre not going to starve. Iâll take you to get your toast. Mommy has got plenty of money.â
âMumâs got plenty of money?â Gabrielaâs eyes widened, a mix of surprise and doubt clouding her young mind. Eileen nodded, her eyes bright.
The next moment, Gabriela grinned.
âMom buys me toast, but Dad doesnât. Dadâs broke.â
Her innocent voice rang through the car like a bell, filling the air with a childish charm. Bryan pressed down the accelerator, steering them toward a restaurant famous for its toast. His eyes flicked to the rearview mirror occasionally, catching glimpses of Eileen and Gabriela.
After Gabriela got the toast she wanted, Eileen swiftly typed a message to Raymond, instructing him to go to the companyâs finance department the next day and cancel Bryanâs labor contract.
Raymondâs reply came with a thumbs-up emoji. Eileen had indeed gotten the job done successfully.
