Chapter 857:
Gabriela jumped up, planting herself in front of Eileen like a tiny warrior. She glared at Bryan and yelled, her voice surprisingly fierce.
Eileen reached out to gently steady Gabriela, whispering, âHoney, Daddyâs being mean to Mommy.â
âCryv Mammy. Iâll give him a piece of my mind!â Gabriela patted Eileenâs shoulder, her tiny body radiating fierce protectiveness.
Bryan, stung by Gabrielaâs words, tried to defend himself.
âYour mom is being unreasonable,â he grumbled.
As soon as the words left Bryanâs mouth, Eileen leaned in and whispered in Gabrielaâs ear, âMommy needs Daddyâs help, but he wonâtâ¦â
âDaddy, you should help Mommy!â Gabriela exclaimed.
Eileen quickly thought of something and squeezed out a few tears. âItâs okay if Daddy doesnât want to help. Iâll figure it out myself. And if it gets too hard⦠Iâll just cry.â
Seeing her motherâs tears, Gabriela became anxious.
âMummy, donât cry! Daddy will help you, right, Daddy?â Gabriela pleaded with Bryan, her big eyes full of concern.
Bryan, feeling resigned, wanted to pull Eileen away and reason with her. But if he didnât agree right now, Gabriela would probably start to cry. He sighed.
âOkay, okay, Iâll help.â
As Bryan tried to comfort Gabriela, she turned to Eileen, her voice soft and soothing.
New chapters now on .cøm âI wonât cry, Mommy. You donât cry, either.â
âMommyâs not crying, sweetheart. Youâre my little angel. Youâre so good to me, unlike someoneâ¦â Eileen whispered, hugging Gabriela close. She made sure Gabriela didnât see her dry eyes, not wanting her daughter to know the tears were fake.
Bryan glared at Eileen.
âIâll help you, but only if you can put me in a good mood first.â
Eileen knew exactly what he was getting at. But she was undoubtedly reluctant to comply with his demands. She didnât want to exhaust herself for nights.
Watching him stroll back to work, smug as ever, made Eileenâs anxiety spike.
But what other choice did she have?
Even though Jessica had left the company, she still had Bryanâs number and occasionally texted him.
So, Eileenâs plan was doable.
But Bryan would never fake being with Jessica to take her and Conroy for a physical examination.
And right on cue, Jessica sent him a text, confessing her feelings to him.
âMr. Dawson, Iâve had feelings for you for a while now. I wouldnât mind being a stepmother to Gabriela, and Iâm a quick learner, even though Iâm young! Eileen might be doing a good job taking care of Gabriela now, but give me a chance, and Iâll outshine her. Besides, sheâs not good enough for you, considering her family background. Iâm younger than her and better than her in many ways.â
Eileen snorted as she read Jessicaâs message to Bryan. The nerve of that woman, comparing their family backgrounds!
