Chapter 855:
âI wouldnât harm you directly,â Eileen replied coolly. âInstead, Iâd arrange for âaccidentsâ to happen.â She locked eyes with him, her frown deepening. âImagine your brakes failing, causing you to crash into the windshield, or a pipe falling from above your home, or objects tumbling down on you. Youâd find no proof that any of these events were deliberate.â
Conroy paused, his gaze fixed on her, clearly weighing her words.
âEileen, youâre playing dumb to deceive me. You made me believe you were naive, but youâre actually quite cunning!â Conroy finally said, his voice edged with frustration.
Eileen realized she wouldnât get what she wanted from him and chose not to prolong the conversation. âI never claimed to be naive. It was you who chose to believe that and acted superior in front of me.â
Upon her return, neither Conroy nor Gianna had anticipated that her standing would surpass that of the Vazquez family. They had never believed she was wealthyâthey only saw her as someone who wasnât as gullible as they had assumed, playing them the whole time.
Conroy felt a mix of humiliation and anger, imagining Eileen as a puppet master, watching and manipulating them all.
âLet me be clear with you today,â he said, his tone colder. âIf you marry the man and bring some benefits to the Vazquez family, youâll be considered a daughter of the Vazquez family in the future. But if you donât listen to me and act accordingly, you wonât get a penny from the Vazquez family. I know your grandmother reached out to talk about how to get your mother into the family cemetery, correct? Well, unless you hand over the VQ Group, that wonât happen!â
Eileenâs expression turned cold. âEven if I handed you the VQ Group, you wouldnât allow my motherâs burial in the family cemetery.â
Conroy answered, âGiannaâs situation is different from your motherâs. Sheâs eligible for a place in the ancestral tomb of the Vazquez family.â
This implied that if Eileen gave him the VQ Group, he might allow her mother to be buried there in the future, and Gianna could also be buried there despite her divorced status.
Nevertheless, Eileen didnât trust a word he said. Considering Gianna and Conroyâs long-standing relationship and their affection for Jessica, it was clear that Conroy had emotional ties to her mother. How could Gianna not be laid to rest next to Conroy in the future?
Eileen said, âSince youâre being upfront, let me offer you a proposal as well. If you divorce my mom today and allow her to return single, I might still give you the VQ Group to help you out. However, if you refuse⦠Donât hold it against me later for being cruel to you and disregarding your position as my father!â
Conroy burst out laughing. âYouâre joking, right? Iâm eager to see how youâll do that. Who do you think you are to speak to me with such arrogance? You really think youâre Bryanâs wife or something?â
Eileen answered, âMaybe I am. And even if Iâm not, when you pass away, Iâll dig up your remains and feed them to the dogs!â
âYouââ Conroy hesitated, not willing to take that risk. He knew well that he would likely die before Eileen.
âIf you dare disturb my grave, arenât you worried about being condemned by others? Have you no shame?â he retorted.
