Chapter 854:
Suddenly, Eileen understood why Conroy had summoned her here. He was probing into her relationship with Bryan. âIs Mr. Dawson interested in you, Eileen?â Conroy finally asked, becoming more direct.
Eileen raised an eyebrow, her tone neutral. âBut Iâm interested in him.â
Conroy was taken aback and said anxiously, âBut you used to be quite taken with him! What changed your mind? When I told you not to offend him, you didnât listen.â
Eileen interjected, âI initially considered marrying Bryan to stabilize the Vazquez familyâs finances and secure our future, given the VQ Groupâs struggles. However, now that the company is thriving, my priorities have shifted. Bryan is divorced with a child; I donât want to marry him.â
Conroyâs eyes blazed with anger, his gaze piercing enough to kill. He found Eileenâs attitude infuriating.
âDo you even know what youâre talking about? Do you have any idea who Mr. Dawson is?â Conroyâs tone was forceful, his words dripping with emphasis. âEven if heâs been divorced multiple times, he would still be an exceptional match for you!â
Eileen suddenly fell silent, her eyes locking onto Conroyâs. Just as he started to reel uneasily, she reached out with lightning speed and yanked at his hair. She had intended to pull out a grey hair for a DNA test.
But to her surprise, she accidentally yanked out a whole wig, revealing Conroyâs shiny, bald scalp beneath. Only a few stray strands framed his temples. It turned out he had been wearing a wig this whole time.
The atmosphere turned awkward as Eileen examined the wig in her hand, her curiosity genuine. âDo you wear this even when you sleep?â she asked.

Conroyâs face reddened with rage. He grabbed the wig back, attempting to put it on again. However, Eileen had accidentally damaged the wig, and it wouldnât stay in place on his head.
âItâs a full wig, isnât it? You should really shave your head for a more secure fit. How about I help you shave your hair?â Eileen looked at Conroyâs head. If she didnât help him shave his hair, she wouldnât be able to get his hair for a DNA test.
Conroyâs hair was sparse and clipped short, making it difficult to extract a strand. He was visibly irritated as he adjusted his wig, exclaiming, âThere! No need for pretense here. Youâre just after my hair for a paternity test, arenât you?â
With her motives revealed, Eileen remained calm. âNow that youâre aware, why not just hand me a strand of your hair?â
âThereâs no way Iâm letting you touch my hair!â Conroy gestured dismissively, his expression one of outright refusal.
Eileen paused briefly before replying, âHave you thought about how much safer it is to extract a hair than to use blood for a DNA test? If I needed blood, I might have to carry a knife, which would mean youâd always be wary of me possibly stabbing you. At best, youâd end up with stitches; at worst, it could be fatal.â
âHOW dare you!â Conroy shuddered at her suggestion. âIf you harm me with that knife, Iâll see you in jail!â
