Chapter 850:
Jessica recoiled, her forehead throbbing. Unnoticed by her, Eileen had yanked a few strands of her hair.
Eileen had used all her strength to do that.
Jessica clutched her head, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. She held them back, not wanting to lose her composure in public.
âMr. Finch, it seems there has been a misunderstanding. How could I possibly flick her with my injured hand?â Eileen said, secretly holding the few strands of Jessicaâs hair in her hand.
Turning to Bryan, she added, âMr. Dawson, my hand has almost recovered. Shall we return to the VQ Group tomorrow?â
Bryan gave a firm nod in agreement.
âAlright, weâll head back tomorrow. Mr. Finch, Miss Marshall, youâre free to go now. And as for your promise, Mr. Finch, I expect not to see Miss Marshall at the VQ Group again.â
Since Bryan had remained firm on the matter, Conroy had no hope of keeping Jessica at the company. Left with no choice, Conroy replied with a forced smile, âOf course, Mr. Dawson. Donât worryâ¦â
As the door swung shut behind Conroy and a sullen Jessica, Eileen deftly plucked two strands of her own hair, contrasting them with Jessicaâs. The differences were stark: her hair was dark and sleek, while Jessicaâs was lighter with a chestnut hue.
Approaching Bryan, she handed over the strands of hair.
âLetâs invest in a quick paternity test. I intend to use the results to sever Conroyâs ties with the family. That way, my mother can rest in the Vazquez familyâs ancestral tomb.â

After that, we can arrange things for your grandmother and return to Onaland,â Bryan replied, accepting the strands of hair. Gently setting Gabriela down, he added, âCareful, donât handle her; you might hurt your hand.â
âWhy the rush to return to Onaland?â After a pause, Eileen continued, âIf my grandmother decides against returning with me, I might have to extend my stay in Alverton.â
Bryanâs brows knitted tightly. âIâll send the hair for testing first.â
He then left the room, his expression etched with a hint of unusual concern.
A paternity test could yield results within hours, leaving Eileen to spend the afternoon anxiously watching the clock.
At three oâclock in the afternoon, the results were ready, and Eileen accompanied Bryan to retrieve them.
The nurse handed over the envelope, and Eileen ripped it open immediately. âDo you think Conroy will accept these results when I show them to him, or should I make extra copies in case he tries to destroy them?â
After a pause, she added, âIf he refuses to accept them, weâll need to take legal action. My greatest worry is how my grandmother will cope with the revelation about Jessicaâs identity. Sheââ
Eileen was stunned as she read the results, which clearly stated â[NO blood relation].â The revelation shattered her usual calm. She and Jessica were not related by blood!
Bryanâs eyes widened slightly in surprise. âHas Conroy told you that Jessica is his and your auntâs child?â
âI figured it out myself, and they never refuted it,â Eileen murmured, biting her lip.
