Chapter 836:
Once Eileen had left, Jessica said, âMr. Dawson, you see now that Eileen canât properly look after your child. She made her cry like this!â
âWhether she can take care of my child well or not isnât for you to say. I know this well,â Bryan replied coldly.
Jessica knew that Bryan had been watching Eileen care for Gabriela daily, and she realized that her single comment wasnât going to alter his opinion.
She quickly added, âI brought some gifts for the child, but Eileen didnât let her use them, which made her upset and cry.â
Bryan was skeptical of her explanation. âFrom now on, you donât need to bring anything for my daughter. Now, go to Mr. Finchâs office and reflect on your actions. Inform Mr. Finch that if my daughter is disturbed again, I will not continue to work with the VQ Group.â
The job was merely a cover for Bryan; he was primarily occupied with tasks for the Group. However, given that Conroy relied heavily on him for this project, he believed he could use this to his advantage.
Jessica wanted to respond but was silenced by Bryanâs stern look. Reluctantly, she exited and made her way directly to Conroyâs officeânot to reflect on her actions, but to vent her frustrations.
âEileen is so irritating; that child listens to her every word, and it drives me crazy!â Jessica said.
âJessica, based on what youâve described⦠Mr. Dawson clearly values Eileen. Why not wait and see if Eileen can really win him over? Her ability to care for the child is a big plus in his eyes. If we can resolve any issues with her and keep Mr. Dawson happy, itâll be beneficial for the VQ Group. Then you mightâ¦â Conroy said, focusing solely on securing the VQ Groupâs interests. He considered personal matters secondary.
Feel the thrill at g aln ov el s . com Jessica, however, was intent on winning over Bryan. She wasnât fond of Conroyâs suggestion, but it wasnât the first time he had proposed it. She knew getting upset wouldnât influence his opinion.
Wasnât it just about the child? She had no interest in being a stepmother. It seemed wiser to use the child to turn Mr. Dawson against Eileen.
It would be killing two birds with one stone!
A plan began to take shape in Jessicaâs mind. She casually agreed with Conroy and then left.
Dolores hadnât expected to encounter Julio at the grocery store. His car was parked along the curb, and he was leaning against it, smoking. Upon seeing her, he extinguished his cigarette and approached her directly.
âDid you change your number to avoid me?â
âSince you know Iâm avoiding you, why bother approaching me? Isnât this just like what I did to you before?â Doloresâ lips twisted into a slight sneer.
âThe way you despised me then is the same way I despise you now. Donât you feel that?â
âItâs entirely your issue if you despise me. Itâs none of my business,â Julioâs voice was icy, his steely gaze capturing the fragility of Daloresâ features as he arched an eyebrow.
âRemember when I urged you to leave and you chose to stay? What was going through your mind then?â
Dalores clenched her jaw, her eyes blazing as she met his gaze. âI must have lost my senses then. I couldnât abandon you in peril. I was eager to shield you from harm. Had you been upfront about your feud with the Ferguson family before, I wouldnât have stubbornly stayed. So, whatâs your angle now? Do you want to hear me rail against you further, or push me to despise you more deeply?â
