Chapter 831:
Without hesitation, she blocked his number and ripped the document to shreds. She then called Eileen, requesting her assistance in obtaining a new SIM card. At the moment, without any money, she couldnât even afford a new SIM card.
Eileen was brief in her response, agreeing to secure a new SIM card for Dalores and send it to her after work.
As soon as the call ended, it was clear to Eileen that Dalores and Julio had failed to come to an agreement. Eileen reclined on the sofa, observing Gabriela scampering around the office. Gabriela pointed at a flowerpot, saying, âDaddy! I want a flower!â Gabriela tried to reach for the flowerpot while looking up at Bryan with wide eyes. Bryan paused, put down his pen, and calmly said, âAsk your mother.â
Gabriela turned to Eileen and gestured toward the budding flower. âSweetheart, you shouldnât pluck the flower bud. It needs to grow and bloom into beautiful petals that are amazing,â Eileen explained as she approached Gabriela and gently guided her hand away from the plant.
Gabriela, a bit puzzled, inquired, âSmell amazing?â
Eileen nodded. âYes. Let me show you some flowers.â She led Gabriela back to the sofa and showed her a video on her phone of flowers blooming.
Gabriela then grasped the idea. She began guarding the flower bud zealously whenever anyone neared the flowerpot. She would remind everyone, âWe must wait! The flower is going to smell amazing. I want to watch it bloom!â
Her actions were so endearing that anyone watching couldnât help but find her adorable.
Perhaps Jessica found Gabriela charming, or maybe she was trying to curry favor with Bryan. While delivering documents to Bryan, Jessica walked past the flowerpot. Hearing Gabrielaâs excitement about the flowerâs scent, she quickly plucked the bud for Gabriela. âYou really love it, sweetie? Iâve picked it for you, and Iâll get more flowers for you in the future!â Jessica said.
Gabrielaâs smile vanished immediately. She stared at the bud in Jessicaâs hand, turned to Eileen, and then burst into tears.
âI wanted to see the flower bloom! I didnât want it picked!â Gabriela cried.
Bryan frowned at the scene. He stood and walked over to pick up Gabriela from Eileenâs arms.
But Gabriela clung to Eileenâs neck, sobbing heavily.
At first, Jessica was concerned that she had caused a problem, seeing how upset Gabriela had become. But then, she was completely taken aback by Gabrielaâs strong attachment to Eileen.
Gabriela was unwilling to be consoled by her own father, Bryan, preferring to cling to Eileen instead.
Jessica now believed that if she could win over the child, perhaps Bryan would see her in a different light.
âMr. Dawson, I apologize. I didnât know she wanted thatâ¦â Jessica quickly apologized to Bryan, trying to look pitiful. Bryan dismissed her coolly, waving his hand.
âThatâs fine. Please continue with your tasks,â he said.
