Chapter 789:
A luxurious red carpet unfurled in front of the hotel entrance, stretching out like a river of velvet to the street. Reporters on either side clamored for the perfect shot, their cameras flashing.
Raymond eased the car to a near stop and asked, âMr. Dawson, should we pull over here?â
âDrive straight to the parking lot,â Bryan instructed, his voice steady. He wasnât certain if the guests inside were familiar with Eileen, but he was confident that many of the reporters were.
Bryan casually navigated through an app on his tablet, glancing up now and then at Eileen, who was dressed in a sleek black gown. Gabriela wore a pink dress, and the two of them were softly singing a childrenâs song. Gabrielaâs voice, sweet and melodic, filled the car, occasionally rising above the gentle hum of the engine. Eileen, her voice tender, sang along with Gabriela.
Bryan put away the tablet and, with a protective gesture, wrapped his arm around Eileenâs waist. Leaning in close, he whispered, âWeâll need to go our separate ways once weâre inside. How do you plan to handle it if someone tries to hit on you?â
Business parties were notorious breeding grounds for unwanted advances, especially since men far outnumbered women. A woman like Eileen, with her striking figure and beauty, would undoubtedly become the center of attention the moment she stepped inside.
Eileen chuckled softly, amused by Bryanâs concern, but answered earnestly. âIâll tell them Iâm married and have a daughter.â
âThat wonât be enough,â Bryan responded, clearly not satisfied. Eileen furrowed her brow, searching for a better answer. After a moment, she said, âAnd Iâm expecting our second child?â
Let your imagination soar with gαâηÏνððsï¼Ã§Î¿ðº Bryan narrowed his eyes and looked at her. âGood women lie.â
Eileen was left at a loss for words.
He was the one who said that wasnât enough. She had lied for his sake!
âBut thatâs alright,â Bryan said with a smile, his eyes gleaming mischievously. âIâll take responsibility for making that lie come true.â
Eileen stared at him, utterly flabbergasted. He had tricked her on purpose, and she had walked right into his trap without even realizing it!
As the car slipped into the shadowed confines of the underground parking lot, Eileen, unable to contain her frustration, pinched Bryan hard on the waist. But Bryan didnât so much as flinch. Without missing a beat, he caught her hand and, in one swift move, brought her index finger to his lips, giving it a playful bite.
The bite wasnât hard, but the unexpected softness and warmth of his lips sent a jolt through Eileen. She yanked her hand back with a startled gasp.
With a soft squeal, the carâs partition slowly slid up, and Raymond said slowly, âMr. Dawson, the event is about to start. And⦠Miss Dawson is still seated with you.â
The partition then lowered, sealing off any sound with impressive soundproofing.
Eileen wanted to clarify things, but Raymond probably couldnât hear her now. Even if he could hear her, she wasnât sure if he would believe her.
âThis is all your fault!â Eileen whispered fiercely to Bryan, her ears burning with frustration.
