“You’re welcome.” Eileen played with the baby and started a conversation with Dalores about the child. The servant lingered for a bit and then exited the room.

Eileen then questioned Dalores, “Have you seen Julio? Did he cause you any trouble?”

Dalores shook her head. “No. I’ve made my position clear to him, and he won’t be coming back.”

“What did you say to make him back off?” Eileen asked, curious.

“I told him I had an abortion,” Dalores said, touching her red eyes and declaring firmly, “He won’t bother me anymore. He despises me now.”

A heavy silence fell over the room. Eileen hadn’t expected Dalores to say that to Julio.

“Regardless, this is my decision. I’ll handle whatever comes from it. Thank you,” Dalores said, offering Eileen a smile.

Eileen soon left.

Stepping out of the villa, Eileen deliberately glanced at Conroy. The woman inside hadn’t emerged for quite some time, suggesting she might be living there. With a frown, Eileen returned home.

During the meal, Eileen discussed with Bryan that it wasn’t practical to keep surveillance on Conroy’s villa daily.

“There’s a security camera outside the villa that can be angled in that direction. However, we can’t make it too obvious. You really need to go to the office and can’t keep watch tomorrow.” While feeding Gabriela, Bryan gave Eileen some advice. He added, “I need to attend a business banquet hosted by VQ Group tomorrow night. I think you should attend, too.”

I’m curious to see how Conroy will handle himself,” Eileen said with a smile to Bryan. “But are you sure no one will recognize me there tomorrow night?” Despite the fact that Alverton was far from Onaland, businessmen always traveled around the world for work. Some businessmen who hadn’t succeeded in Onaland might have moved to Alverton. It was possible that some of them had encountered Eileen before.

While Conroy and Kinsey, who had never left Alverton, were unaware of Eileen’s identity, that didn’t mean others at the banquet wouldn’t recognize her.

“I’m sure,” Bryan said, shaking his head. “But if you’re not holding Gabriela, you might go unrecognized.”

In fact, Bryan had reviewed the guest list for the banquet and noted no familiar names. He had just said that to tease Eileen.

Taking his words seriously, Eileen suggested, “Then maybe you should take Gabriela, and I’ll just blend into the background.”

The following morning, Eileen busied herself selecting clothes for the banquet and a new dress for Gabriela. She went to the company at noon, ready to have lunch with Bryan and attend the banquet later.

Weighed down by Gabriela in one arm and shopping bags in the other, Eileen struggled out of the elevator, breathless. That was when she encountered Jessica and her secretary, Tami Glyn.
