Chapter 785:
If love was impossible, then let their relationship end in mutual disdain, with no further contact.
Eileen understood Bryanâs words earlier about asking Conroy to reimburse the money.
In the evening, Conroyâs assistant arrived, knocked on the door, and delivered a spread of gourmet dishes, significantly more lavish than what Eileen had ordered earlier.
âMs. Curtis, Mr. Finch instructed me to set this up. He was informed that Mr. Dawson was expecting a guest, and due to a mix-up at the restaurant at noon, the dishes were sent to his place by mistake. So, he arranged this meal for Mr. Dawson.â
Eileen knew the mention of a guest served as an excuse. Not only did it mask the earlier mistake, when several dishes had been delivered to the woman staying at Conroyâs place, but it also facilitated the reimbursement.
Bryan was always thoughtful and meticulous in his planning for her. Eileen couldnât help but smile. She directed the assistant and his staff to arrange all the dishes on the table. Just after Eileen had dismissed them, Bryan returned home.
Conroyâs people departed following a brief greeting with Bryan.
Bryan glanced over at Eileen, who was standing by the door. He gave her a subtle wink as he greeted Conroyâs people.
Eileen chuckled as she turned and walked back into the villa. Bryan followed her inside, closing the door behind them. He quickly blocked her path and teased, âIâve secured double what you lost. Are you pleased now?â
âNot exactly,â Eileen responded, gesturing towards the dining room. âItâs just too much food. How can the three of us possibly eat all this?â

âIs Kinsey working late today?â Eileen inquired.
âThey just started a meeting. Itâs to last at least two hours,â Bryan informed her.
Two hours would mean their time off work would be around eight oâclockânot exactly late by Bryanâs standards. But Bryan quickly understood what Eileen was implying and clarified, âHeâll be home before dinner, though.â
âThen Iâll take some food over to Dalores,â Eileen said. The dishes were still in their takeaway containers. She packed several dishes randomly and headed to Kinseyâs villa. The layout of the nearby villas was nearly identical. After two knocks, the door opened.
âHello, Iâm your neighbor. I had guests coming for dinner, but they had to cancel last minute. Iâve got plenty of food left. If itâs alright with you, Iâd like to share some,â Eileen said, careful not to reveal her acquaintance with Dalores to the servant.
The servant scrutinized Eileen, and after a moment, deemed her harmless. âThank you. Please come in for a cup of coffee. The lady of the house is upstairs; Iâll ask her to come down.â
Eileen expressed her thanks and entered. Inside, the villaâs decor was entirely different, making it hard to believe that the structure was the same as the other villas.
She was invited to sit in the living room, and someone went to call Dalores down.
Within thirty seconds, Dalores hurried downstairs, cradling her baby.
âEileen⦠Why are you here?â Dalores stopped herself before saying Eileenâs name aloud and nodded politely to her in front of the servant. She then sat down and said, âI heard you brought several dishes over. Thank you.â
