Chapter 779:
âYou can think about remarrying,â Eileen chimed in, dabbling her mouth with a napkin. âWouldnât it be better to spend your life with someone instead of living alone?â
Conroy frowned.
âIâll manage my personal matters myself,â he said.
âYouâre right,â Eileen replied, then turned to Bryan. âMr. Dawson, you shouldnât pry into someone elseâs private matters.â
Her tone suggested she found Bryanâs prying slightly irritating, casting him in a meddlesome light.
Bryan acknowledged her point coolly, then stood up and lifted Gabriela from her chair. âI was merely curious, Mr. Finch. No harm meant.â
âNone taken,â Conroy replied stiffly, standing to escort Bryan out, shooting a few annoyed looks at Eileen when Bryan wasnât looking.
Eileen disregarded him and left with Bryan. Back at home, she positioned herself in the chair by the floor-to-ceiling window, keeping watch over Conroyâs front door.
As darkness settled, she adjusted the reclining seat to maintain her vigilance.
Around ten oâclock in the evening, the car door suddenly opened, and Bryan slipped in. Pressing a finger to Eileenâs lips, he set his phone in the holder, displaying a live feed of their bedroom where Gabriela was peacefully sleeping.
âWhat are you doing?â Eileen whispered.
âGabriela is asleep. I came to keep you company.â Bryan extended his arm, wrapped it around her waist, and drew her close. âHas the person not come out yet? She might stay the night.â

Eileen believed she would need to remain here for quite some time tonight.
âThat makes sense. Letâs stay here and wait.â Bryan leaned in, kissed her forehead, and then draped a thin blanket over her. The weather was cold, but they couldnât run the heater because that would draw attention.
Eileen rushed to the car without grabbing a blanket. Now, she cuddled closer to Bryan, draping her legs across his lap and pulling the blanket tighter around them both. His body heat warmed her, and she soon fell asleep in his embrace.
In the car, the glow from the phone illuminated Bryanâs defined features as he glanced at the sleeping Eileen. He adjusted the blanket around her and kept busy on his phone, dealing with some work matters, occasionally glancing at Gabrielaâs video feed.
Meanwhile, the street lamps outside shone directly on Conroyâs door, making anyone exiting visible. Therefore, Bryan didnât pay much attention to the door.
It wasnât until dawn that Bryan set his phone aside and glanced at the villa across the street. Seeing no activity, he stepped out of the car. He went around to the passenger side and carefully carried the still-sleeping Eileen back inside.
Inside, it was much warmer. Eileen turned over and continued to sleep on the bed.
Gabriela woke up. As soon as she began making noise, Bryan took her downstairs for a walk.
He continued to watch Conroyâs house, eventually noticing Conroy step outside.
