Chapter 761:
âEileen, where did you get this?â
âWhat did you do, Eileen?â Conroyâs expression darkened immediately, his glare fixed on Eileen.
From behind them, Bryan, hands in his pockets, observed the scene coolly. âWhatâs the problem?â
Kinsey stepped aside swiftly, allowing Bryan to approach. Jessica promptly handed the card to Bryan. âMr. Dawson, I found this in Eileenâs ID badge. Is it yours?â
Bryan took the card, looked it over briefly, and nodded. âYes. Itâs mine.â
âWhat have you done, Eileen?â Jessicaâs pent-up frustration burst forth. âHow could you stoop to stealing? How can Mr. Dawson trust you after this?â
Conroy, misunderstanding the entire situation, believed Eileen had stolen the card and feared she would upset Bryan. He shot Eileen a warning glance and said, âWhy are you just standing there in silence? Apologize to Mr. Dawson right now!â
âWhy should I apologize?â Eileen responded calmly. âJust because this was found in my ID badge doesnât mean I stole it. Isnât it unfair to accuse me without any proof, Miss Marshall?â
Jessica scoffed. âDo I need to make up accusations? Explain how this card ended up in your badge if you didnât steal it. Did it just walk in there on its own?â
âOf course not. I placed it there myself,â Eileen replied.
âSee? She admitted it!â Jessica turned to Bryan. âMr. Dawson, this is unacceptable. Weâll find you a new nanny immediately, and Iâll have Eileen leave right now.â
Despite her youthful appearance and charming outfit, Jessicaâs demeanor was harsh. Though she appeared sweet and delicate, her tone was aggressive.
Iâtâ¬$â ¢нâÏŧεÒÅ¡ ¡и gð¶lðovÑlð.ð°om Eileen looked at Jessica with cold eyes. She hadnât anticipated that her first significant conflict here would be with Jessica, not Conroy or Kinsey. She furrowed her brow and said, âTaking something without permission is theft, but Mr. Dawson gave me this card for household expenses. Is there a problem with that?â
Jessica found herself at a loss for words. Conroy exhaled in relief.
Kinsey, observing the tension in the room, asked Bryan, âMr. Dawson, is that true?â
âYes,â Bryan replied, his gaze icy as it swept over Jessica. âYouâve made a false accusation, Miss Marshall.â
âJessica, apologize to Eileen now!â Conroy commanded without hesitation, eager to defuse the situation.
Jessica stomped her foot in frustration. âIt canât be true. That card wasâ¦â
She had secretly slipped the card into Eileenâs ID badge, aiming to frame her. How could Bryan have given it to Eileen? But she couldnât reveal her actions. She bit her lip, looking back and forth between Eileen and Bryan, both of whom seemed to be mocking her. Overwhelmed with humiliation, she didnât offer an apology. Instead, she shoved her way through them and dashed away.
Eileen wobbled and nearly tumbled. Luckily, Bryan quickly caught her, preventing a fall.
âI apologize for Jessicaâs outburst,â Conroy said, attempting to justify Jessicaâs behavior. âShe just has a temper. I will ensure she apologizes to you tomorrow.â
Bryanâs look became frosty. âShe owes an apology to Eileen, not to me.â
